  1. 98Z5V, Thanks for the information on The Appleseed Project. To be honest I had never heard of it. It sounds like a very worthwhile project. I found they have a very active presence in Texas, and their meets are very reasonable in price. A big choice of a 1, 2, or 3 day Boot Camp. All four of my children, 2 boys and 2 girls were all members of our 4-H shooting club growing up and we have a new 4-H rifle club that just started two years ago here in Comanche County. I will be sure and see that the leaders get the information on The Appleseed Project here in Texas. The Instructors as well as the kids would really benefit from attending a session. I play it to my T.V. from my Kindle Fire HD with a cord. I don't have internet on my T.V. or I could play it on just the T.V.
  2. Drilling a hole thru the center of the pin then using chassis grease to fill the hole and then using a drill rod the same size as the center hole set over the grease and hitting a swift blow with a hammer to hydraulically remove the pin, the grease displaces the bottom of the pin and out it comes. However I would plan to either use an ease-out or tap the hole with a 10-32 machine screw tap, then screw a machine screw with an allen head cap and screw it out ot pry it out. It may be that when you start drilling the center hole the pin will be spun out by the drill bit. My big question is why did the pin shear off in the first place!
  3. Some how back in the boonies,in the woods, on the rivers, and in the swamps and back in the deserts on some farms and ranches in these United States of America good old country boys will survive ... so you hotshot price gougers, pimps, gangbangers, cop killers and ISIS savages take heed and kiss your asses bye-bye.
  4. Nice looking puppy dog!
  5. It is your money spend it where it benefits YOU the most, remembering your local shops, stores, cafes, mechanics, gunsmiths, that provide you help, do the best work. If there is a small price difference I always go LOCAL I won't buy any high priced vehicle, boat, gun from anyone I don't know will supply customer service. AMAZON, Brownells, Midway and sometimes other online vendors gets many orders for stuff not on the shelf locally. It is easy because Walmart, Lowes, Home Depot, Sears, are at least 40 miles away. We have a local hardware-lumberyard and a mini-supermarket and a Tractor Supply store along with a decent GM and Ford Motor Co. dealer. My favorite gun dealer has always been able to supply guns, scopes at a very reasonable price. He puts it in my hand and I put cash in his hand.
  6. Yes sir, ridurall, their crap hasn't trickled down here, except for the perceived shortage of ammo and the ridicules prices. but it can't be too far away including therecent land -grabbing activities up on the South side of the Red River, that really got my hackles up. "A Fundamental changing of America" may require a "Fundamental Hard Fought Revolution" of the Patriots to get the U.S. of A. back on track if elections keep on being stolen. I don't think an old codger like myself will live long enough to have too much to worry about. However, I do have offspring and a bunch of grandkids that will need to have some basic knowledge of revolutionary skills, that is if they ever get their thumbs to co-orporate doing something except TEXTING, and playing video games.
  7. Okay so even SEALS and RANGERS admit that Recon Leads The Way! :auto: Being Humble Is Wonderful! <outtahere> I never was in Marine RECON, but I slept in their barracks once! I want one of them shirts! :binkybaby:
  8. Well crap I just found out about linking thru this site to give credit. I ain't the sharpest knife in the kitchen. I usually place around 180 to 200 orders to Amazon a year (Prime) shipping or always "free shipping" because the old brown truck backs right up to my shop door. In the last quarter I've ordered everything from a 900 dollar rotortiller down to Folgers coffee to security cameras from AMAZON it is so easy, go to Amazon on this Kindle Fire search, read the reviews and, do a"one click" order. I used to order from CTD but after a few come to Jesus replies here, I saw the light and now buy from Brownells again and Midway. I'll try to get with the program since this is my fav. Forum now.
  9. For a reason I figured the guy was a wannabe blowing smoke so I blew some back, he never caught fire. (several chambers of several calipers)
  10. From Atomic webpage: http://atomicammunition.com/308_Win_175_Gr.html Our .308 WIN SUBSONIC 175 GR SIERRA HPBT MATCHKING LOADED IN NEW BRASS ammunition is made with only the very best components available, such as new brass, Flash Supressed powder and Sierra MatchKing Hollow Point Boat Tail bullets. This ammunition is not specifically designed to cycle semi or fully automatic weapons 175 GRAIN SIERRA HPBT MATCHKING BULLETS Loaded in NEW Brass - 1050 FPS, 428 Ft-Lbs Atomic Ammunition’s newest product, our .308 Win Subsonic is unlike any high powered rifle ammunition. It is quieter than most .22 Long Rifle ammo, has virtually no felt recoil, produces the same energy and power as many .40 S&W police service rounds and delivers excellent accuracy past 100 yards from rifles with barrel twist rates of 1 in 11’’ or faster. This specialty ammunition is perfect for younger and smaller framed shooters who are learning to shoot their family’s full size hunting rifles, seniors who have become recoil sensitive due to age, persons who only have access to indoor shooting ranges that do not allow high powered rifles because of the noise they generate that echoes off of the walls or fear that the bullet will generate so much power that it will pass through or tear up the backstop. It can be fired on smaller plots of land that are safe for firing handguns but where a miss with a rifle bullet would likely travel beyond the property, or the use of a full powered rifle load would disturb nearby neighbors. It is a perfect round for ranchers to dispatch varmints and predators such as coyotes or bobcats that prey on young calves and small livestock, with a reduced chance of scaring larger animals into a stampede. Subsonic .308 is also the rifle cartridge of choice for military and law enforcement tactical professionals as well as civilians in over 35 states to use with suppressed firearms because the bullet does not reach or exceed the speed of sound and does not create a loud sonic boom as it travels. This relatively innocuous cartridge, with its low recoil and report will serve many shooters, new or experienced, young and old with an alternative target and varmint round to the loud, harsher kicking standard .308 cartridges at a price on par with standard .308 ammunition, not the much higher, nearly double in price commonly associated with our competitors subsonic .308 ammo.
  11. Anyone tried Atomic .308 Sierra matchking HPBT 175 gn. Subsonic 1050 ft/sec mv, 425 FP at the muzzle?

    Texas lip smacking good!
  13. I agree a wired cctv camera system works fine in a single building setup and is less expensive to buy and install using coax. My cameras are located in outside buildings that do have power outlets, so wireless works okay and is easy to install.
  14. The system I am building is Uniden with a 7" control panel with capacity for four wireless outdoor day-night cameras each has motion detection several modes of operation. Signal transmission between camera and control is wireless but the cameras have to have normal house power to operate. The output can connect to TV or computer and you can access the system with a cell phone. It is way smarter than I am.
  15. I didn't know a pool cue had a hollow handle, looks hollow in the picture.....Okay I took a better look, my mistake! As for me I am too old to let anyone strange get closer than a hoe handle length, it works for snakes anyway.
  16. Maybe you could come up with some pictures and directions?
  17. Let us know how this works out, please
  18. I reckon I know what it is now, but what did it us-ta be?
  19. Okay, THANKS!
  20. I have decided to go with a new 3 - 9 x 50 MM Burris new scope, rather than the 4.5 to 14 power 42 mm one
  21. I have the two 12ga. Hidden near the two outside doors one is an Ithaca model 37 and the other is a skeet model Remington 1100 both with 00 loads, on my wife's side of the bedroom is her Winchester .410 pump also loaded with buckshot. Our handguns are strickly for defence
  22. I have been looking for another scope and a local hunter has a Burris fullview II 4.5 - 14 42mm used one season and has a negotiable price of$200. I have seen them priced on the internet from $400 down to $259 on Amazon and wondered if it is a good scope for a LR308 and why the big variance in price. I may offer $175 is that a decent price for a used Burris or should I buy new for$259?

    Fwd Assist

Yep there is so little I know about the actual hands on practical operating procedures of the AR 308 it is pitiful. I do know how it is supposed to work, but after the game starts things start to become completely ungirted. Most of the info I see is biased towards the sellers. I have discovered the"what ifs" happen to me often. I have been told "If you don't know how to get there, ask the fellow that has been there" Mr. Raley has been there.
  24. Nope Leddy, San Angelo.
  25. We have 2 wireless transmitter video surveillance cameras set up with night vision motion detectors, looking to add two more. each with a 26 LED light all hard wired with no exposed wiring, and a video recorder with alarm, do have a gunsafe (overloaded) and always packing, A very nervous barking Chihuahua that hears a deer pee in the yard. 2 motion detector flood lights. Fenced yard and all of our vehicles, mowers are locked inside buildings. Mini 14, 2 12 gauges and a .410 with 00 buckshot. and several revolvers and pistols. All metal doors with deadbolts. Our house and outbuildings are metal buildings. We keep the trees trimmed up to six feet to deny any hiding places. We have recently had a all steel storm and tornado shelter installed underground. That probably isn't really a security devise but around here it is a safety item. I wonder if there is such a thing as a remote controlled flare gun? I had an AT&T home alarm system in Midland, It was useless because the monitoring company sucked. I have been looking into ADT for here.
