  1. I found they are nice to use on 80% lowers as the 5/32 you drill them too is a bit larger than the .154 spec. As far as "needed"? They are a solution in search of a problem.
  2. I bought a Shockwave, it showed in the mail today. Honestly I think its a fine hunk of plastic. $55 shipped beats the heck out of $129 for a SIG brace and its lighter. I'll report back once its on the pistol and has some range time.
  3. Who is to blame? The kid who pulled the trigger- Period.
  4. I have one in my ultra light long range AR. A 6.5 lb 20" 5.56 with a 4x18x44 on it. With a good JP comp, the hydraulic buffer & Tubbs flat coil buffer spring you never move off the target. I can watch the round hit the target through the scope. That is why you have one. For a fighting rifle I agree with the previous comments, Its not for a plinker or a pack rifle.
  5. I had some interaction with the guys at MechArmor Defense today. They really are responsive and excellent customer service. Seem like great guys. If the trigger is as good as they are I'll be a happy camper :-)
  6. Dude, $40? I make my living with metal and I would be real surprised if you could get that drawn and built for $140. That is a smokin good guy deal!
  7. I cant understand why anyone would buy a PSA BCG for anything other than a PA-10? You can buy a AIM's BCG for the same dough that has proven itself to work in DPMS pattern guns and there are others as well. For only a few bucks more you can buy the D.Wilson BCG which is pretty sweet (I bought just a bolt, but suspect the carrier to be comparable) Silly to buy the PSA when there .308 platform has had so many compatibility issues.
  8. I am Idaho born and raised myself. The second rifle even though it has a 18" barrel is considerably lighter than the first. I would guess it's 9.5 lbs or there abouts. I have an extra BCG and am going to start gathering bits. Most likely what I will do is compete another upper first and then at some point build a lower for it. I would like a heavy 24" upper and a light SBR upper but more than likely both will have to wait a while.
  9. The first 20 boxes I bought did not have "blem" stickers on the box. The second batch of 25 all had little round "blem" stickers on the box. All of them I opened had Pierce marked cases
  10. Am I the only one disappointed in the listed 8.6lb weight? Does spending an extra $98,000 only save you a pound?
  11. You are correct I first tried a AR15 mag catch, however I think you will run into the same issue with some .308 LPK's. I would think if you buy Aero's you would be good to go but several of the others just use the AR15 mag catch as well. I bought AR10 mag catch's and Seekins buttons for both these.
  12. Just finished up Aero #2 When can I start on #3?
  13. Yep, a lot of gear. Last time I was in there I ask about a Noveske Gen III lower. Guy told me they where waiting on a half million dollar Noveske order.
  14. The other thing about Rainer is they will give you your money back on a Barrel before 90 days is up for any reason. You buy one that wont shoot, or you just dont like it, send it back and you get all your money. Pretty hard to beat a deal like that.
  15. Man, I feel like an idiot now. I was feeling a little broke so I bought 20 boxes at the $16.95, shipping was $12 for a total of $311. I had no idea there was a "bulk" option that lowered the price by a buck and a half plus free shipping for just 5 more boxes. I felt so bad about it I ordered another 500 rounds so I could bet the better deal <thumbsup>
  16. Its not loose, Its not super tight either. It fits up well enough that there is no real rattle or movement but the takedown pin is not tight. I did not buy a "matched" set of receivers. I just got another lower and am going to start the next one. Only shot this one once and already building another :-)
  17. Just remember, Two is one, one is none....
  18. It is cool, well done
  19. I loaded the app and played with it for a while. I dont think it would work worth a damn in the real world. Load up the app and go play with it in various lighting and see what you can see. I was real excited at first but after spending 10 minutes out in the world it became apparent it was not all it was cracked up to be.
  20. Im headed to the shop, I'll try and get you a real picture.
  21. I got mine in the mail today too... Here are some thoughts and pictures. There is the Wilson bolt, Aero bolt and Aims bolt side by side in that order Here is the Wilson and Aero extractor parts removed from the bolt. Here is the Wilson extractor installed on the Aero bolt. Seems Skookum A couple close ups to show quality of machine work and over all appearance Ok first off, The D. Wilson bolt is purdy, the finish is finer and over all looks to be a superior bit. I would guess the extractor on both the Aero and Aim's bolts are forged and the Wilson machined. Really the Wilson looks like a higher quality bit. So.... I put the new Wilson bolt in the Aero carrier and ran it in into the barrel extension. It wanted to stick, I had to pop it a few times in and out to get it to come out of the gun. It had some oil on it and it never locked up but it was not nice and smooth. I checked headspace, It would not close on the No Go, It did close on the go but just barely, I actually had to pop the back of the carrier pretty hard to get it into battery and then I had to tap on it with a brass punch to get it to unlock and come out. After that I tried just cycling it several times and the bolt wants to hang up. It never got stuck, but a time or two I thought it might. Worst one it took maybe a few minutes of gentile tapping with a brass punch before it came lose. I actually expect that that its just an exceptional fit, I think a few hundred rounds through the thing and it would be better than either of the others just based on the quality of the machine work. The only way shipping could have been faster is if they where teleported to my mailbox. All the spares look top notch. I ordered the master kit as well as a complete spare bolt and there is nothing even questionable, everything looks top tier super wazzu skookum
  22. I have one of these, It is just shy of a million pounds and feels it mounted out on the end of a rifle. As far as the "anything else" it might be used for I wouldn't get your hopes up. I got a friend who did a legal form 1 build with one and the results where far from spectacular
  23. I have several but the Atlas really seems to be the ticket.
