  1. Even a "mild" load will make the faint of heart think twice, .45-70's a beast, especially out of something as light as a lever action repeater. Actually, did you know they use the exact same barrel blanks for the Rossi Rio Grande in .45-70 as they do in 30-30? It's basically a Marlin 336 bored out to .458, so there's almost no weight to it. Edit:Relatively speaking, of course....
  2. I wouldn't buy one for the simple fact that you're, more or less, buying stolen property. Plus I'd hate to buy an actual 80% paper weight
  3. Dude, don't kill black snakes, rat snakes, black racers, or whatever you want to call them. Relocate it if you have to, but you want him to get about 4-5 ft long so he'll start eating all your rattlesnakes (or at least killing them). Rattlesnake venom won't hurt a black snake. Hell, I've seen a 5 ft Eastern Diamondback get killed in a faceoff with a 6 ft black snake (about, I was too amazed to catch it) back when I was growing up. Then again, we had 12 ft Indigos out there, too... Point is, as long as he doesn't get in your house, he'll keep rats, wolf spiders (my least favorite), and poisonous snakes away, as well as several other species. They WILL eat your rabbits and chickens, though, and you don't want little kids playing with a bigazz snake, so use your best judgement.
  4. Great link, Dane, I think I remember that one. Great source of info, almost wanna read through all of it again. Almost, it's like 1:30
  5. Just another example of why you're the best, Brian! No offense 98 lol
  6. yeah, but it's got a higher strength to density ratio than aluminum, steel, iron, etc.
  7. Oh yeah, DEFINITELY don't forget the video on that one. Just make sure you've got someone nearby to relocate your shoulder. Got me wanting to reload some of that .45-70 brass I've been saving up now....
  8. Same here, just waiting on the barrel to headspace and assemble....
  9. Good luck, brother. Got pictures? Oh schitt, what trigger do you have? I should've asked that in the first place lol
  10. I don't even have an AR pistol and y'all got me wanting to get one, just cause
  11. Now THAT I've gotta see....
  12. I don't know, man, you might decide to go whale hunting with some of those loads one day lmao
  13. Oh really now? I've got a feeling I'm going to be taking you up on that offer :) What size is the gas port, and what kind of set screws does it use? Have you ever had any problems with the adj. screw walking out?
  14. Okay, so now that I've got my barrel ordered, I'm gonna need a gas block, so I was hoping y'all could help me out a little. I want an adjustable gas block, but I'm a little worried about the adjustment screw creeping out over time, so I'd like one with a locking screw or something. I'm using a Matrix Aero stripped upper and 13.2" quad rail FF handguard, but the handguard fits flush with the upper for a continuous rail, with a hole through the top rail for the gas tube, so I'm going to have to use a straight tube. The barrel is a Black Hole Weaponry 20" bbl, so I need around a .936 block, but I won't be able to fit anything until the barrel gets here. I was looking at the JPGS-8( http://www.jprifles.com/buy.php?item=JPGS-8 ), but unless I can find a gas tube that bends up and into the port in the handguard then low profile's pretty much out of the question. I'd also like to keep it around $100 if possible. Anyways, y'all got any ideas? Bear with me, it's after 4 am and I've been working all night. Can't even get a frickin' hyperlink to work right....
  15. Oh man, now you're gettin' me all excited
  16. Oh man, THANK YOU 98, I'll have to mark that on my calendar..... ....oh yeah lol Edit: I'll admit, my heart did skip a beat or two
  17. Hey Easy, you ever get a hammer spring? How did it work out?
  18. But that would be too easy....
  19. DUDE, I wanna try!!! The best I've done are those Buffalo Bore 500gr solids, and they were no joke. You ever run one of those babies through a Chrono? That's gotta be like 80lb/ft felt recoil, bro
  20. Seriously? That looks like it came off a Wal-Mart airsoft gun and got spraypainted black! At least you guys had one, I've never even held a G36 variant, let alone shot one. I don't get how a country with so much money will put out such a sub-par platform and try to push the idea that it's the schitt. I mean, Germany's only in control of like 90% of the EU's money Now that I think about it, they should just get all of us to build their rifles; they've got the money, and I'm sure they'd be happy with a sub-MOA rifle for every POS like this they put out. Then again....
  21. LMAO not bad for short notice bro
  22. Aww c'mon 98, I thought u were a badazz, my Rio Grande in .45-70 is what, a pound and a half lighter than your 1895 and the recoil has never bothered me. And no, I won't stoop as low as cowboy action loads lmao
  23. Right? That's why you guys are the best! Now I've gotta deal with waiting the next 5 weeks (MINIMUM!!!) on my barrel to try her out....
  24. Dude, that is perfect! Thanks again, brother! Did I mention I LOVE this place? lol
  25. How did I forget about that? lol Good source, actually, I'll have to try it out. Would I need a filler to keep the inserts from bouncing around in the buffer body? I'd hate for the cap to pop off mid stroke and have a piece of tungsten slam my carrier...
