  1. What's the reasoning behind copper based opposed to Li-Moly, if you don't mind me asking?
  2. I'm pretty sure I've got a copy laying around here somewhere, that's just the best I could do in 2 minutes on my phone lol
  3. I'm suprised they didn't throw in the bulletproof balaclava with the hat.... Seriously, though, that's pretty cool, especially if it works (and doesn't weigh 15 lbs)
  4. http://www.thetruthaboutguns.com/2014/08/foghorn/u-s-army-kills-rifle-replacement-program-competitor-bests-existing-m4a1/
  5. Yeah, but remember what happened last time the guv'mint held one of their "competitions"....
  6. I THOUGHT that sumbitch looked familiar, you just blew my effin' mind
  7. Mine fits perfectly, better than the standard steel ones on my baby AR's, though I got the smooth black one like SS. I will say it beats having to remove the barrel nut to take off/install the dust cover, and it seems like it's holding up pretty well so far. For $14.50 from Primary Arms, I cant complain: https://www.primaryarms.com/Strike_Industries_Enhanced_308_Ultimate_Dust_Cove_p/si-ar-udc-e-308-01-bk.htm
  8. What, no mg mount? And I just knew you'd have an M1919 over the handlebars....
  9. It's funny you'd mention that; my brother was with me when I took that first shot. He thought he saw the brass get ejected, but it was just the muzzle blast pushing the grass over 20' to my sides! I'd like to find a high speed camera so I can see the blast in slo-mo, I bet that schit's massive!
  10. I hate to bring up an old thread, but I found the article. Sub MOA at 1k+ yds, regardless of wind. http://www.accurateshooter.com/technical-articles/laser-guided-bullet-from-sandia-labs/
  11. Hit it with a hammer, you'll get the same effect, trust me <thumbsup>
  12. What's wrong, it looks perfectly fine to me, Bule <lmao>
  13. Don't worry, Wash, it's all 168gr FGMM until I get her fully broken in, at least. Honestly, though, that chamber may never see a steel casing, coated/plated or not. And it's ok, Sisco, we've ALL made a post or two in our sleep before :)) Edit: Just don't forget the masking tape on the blade of the screwdriver, those bastards tend to scratch up EVERYTHING
  14. Right here, Rob. Barrel, not handguard, my bad...
  15. I tapped the bcg forward, then pulled the charging handle while my brother held onto the handguard. Basically mortaring without the sudden impact. Well, until the bolt unlocked, then he hit the wall pretty quick <lmao>
  16. Finally got an update for y'all, though just barely thanks to all this rain we've been getting lately. I got a day off, so I soaked my bcg in about a quart of Mobil1 full syn 0w-50 when I got home from work last night. Before I set up to shoot, I took the bolt out and wiped off the face and lugs, let the carrier drip dry(ish), then re-assembled the bcg and rifle. I made sure to coat some more 0w-50 on the bcg's rails before it went back in the upper. Once I checked that the gas block was fully open I loaded up. I started with 1 round once again, but this time the bolt had full travel, ejected the spent brass, and locked back. So I loaded 3 more and tried again. Everything was nice and smooth, and the bolt locked back after the last shot. I think it's safe to say she functions now :) I will say, though, that I'm hitting waaaaay low left, as you can see here (I was aiming @ top right, center @ 100yd): In my rifle's defense, I was wore out after getting everything set up and walking almost 800 yards back and forth in the damnnear 100% humidity, and I rushed the last 3 shots to try and beat the rain. Oh yeah, and this was my redneck bench setup today: One thing I was surprised about was how far my brass was flying. I had a nice, neat "pile" about 8ft to my 5 o'clock, and every casing had a dent in almost the same spot where they bounced off the brass deflector on the upper, which also had a good bit of fine brass powder on it. I can't believe it, but I already need to turn down the gas a little bit, even with how tight everything still is. Go figure. Weather-permitting, I'll continue the break-in tomorrow.
  17. Man, I haven't seen an SKS for under $300 in years. Boy do I miss the good ol' days....
  18. Define "cheap" and "SKS", because I've seen very few SKS pattern rifles shoot 1 MOA, and there wasn't anything cheap about them....
  19. 50 AE or 50 Beowulf? I've never seen an AR in .50 Action Express, that'd be sweet. On the other hand, I haven't been able to find the video for years, but I remember there used to be a video on the You-Tubes of someone blowing up a .50 Beowulf AR at a range. The magazine blows to pieces, the receivers separate, and you can see the hole a bullet put in the awning above the shooter about 4 feet at a 45 degree angle. Anyone else remember that?
  20. I'm still trying to figure out what the issue is, I thought the general consensus around here was to use a non graphite moly grease fro barrel nut threads. Anyways, here's something that helps a little on the whole graphite on aluminum thing: http://www.finishing.com/82/53.shtml
  21. You should re-name her Caitlyn <lmao>
  22. I've got plenty of that, but that Cooley brake will wake up neighbors a mile down the road. They got a little pissed last time, and that was before the little kids lived next door. You don't wanna wake those lil' tykes up at 1 am with anything, trust me....
  23. Did you remove the ejector and extractor from the bolt before you checked headspace?
  24. Yeah, sorry I haven't checked back in yet guys. I've been working basically every waking hour so I haven't worked on her yet, but I've got a couple days off next week at least. I hate getting home when it's too dark to shoot :(
  25. Almost forgot, thanks for the input, y'all, helpful as always :)
