As soon as I get my barrel nut wrench in this week I'll get started on mine and we'll compare the two. We both have the same upper receivers and BCG.
-
Got anyone near you Bob that has a DPMS upper receiver that could assist you with comparing your upper?

I've always wanted to go to the Whittington Center but so far I've never had the chance. Never been to Raton, Angel Fire, nor Taos neither but I plan on it once I retire. These are some of my "must do" activities I've thought about. Yes, I've been a longhunter since my teens. To date, I've never killed a deer with a modern cartridge. Always a patched .45 caliber round ball. Will most likely hunt that way until the time I pass. Spent 30 days once in Alamos, CO and went in to Trinidad often but never knew there was a gunsmithing school there. Got a younger 2nd. cousin that lives somewhere around there. That school sounds like it would be a blast to attend.

Noticed 2 things here ... the follower of the Gen-II mag has a much longer front extending a good 1/4" toward the bottom of the mag. The spring was much longer also, approx. 4" than the same parts I pulled out of the ASC. Obviously it would be senseless to try the ASC parts in a Gen-II mag since I couldn't even load the ASC mag to a full 30 rounds. I'll check this out at the range and see what works and what doesn't then post it all back up on here. Going to be a good 10 days to 2 weeks as everything is flooded around here and slow to drain.

28 round loaded effortlessly, as did the 30 round. Both stopped at their respective capacities but they sure loaded a lot easier than the ASC mags did. Let me see if I can get a hybrid together and see what happens. And minutes later ... the hybrid stopped at 32 rounds. Very, very easy to load 32 rounds though. Now I'll try the ASC 30-round mag with the Gen-II spring and follower and see if it all fits for at least 30 rounds. And minutes later ... Using the ASC 30-rd. mag body and floor plate with the C-Products Gen-II spring and follower I could only load 23 rounds in the ASC mag.

ROFLMAO ... OK .... EVERYBODY ... Check out the J-mag springs in BOTH MAGS and let us all know whenever the realization occurs. There Ya go 98 ... Hope that helps you out !!! :))
-
Here's all 3 mags stacked. Top = 28 rd. J-mag Middle = ASC (problem mag) Bottom = C-products Gen. II 30-rd.
-
Nice gun indeed. Looks very well pieced together. <thumbsup> I hope mine turns out like this one and some of these others I've seen on here lately.

Have you had any problems with the Magpul 25 round .308 PMAGS?
-
What I'm curious about is will the 28-rd. springs actually work in the Gen-II 30-rd. mag ?
-
LOL ... Brilliant. Never thought of that but I will say the bottom of these mags are designed for easy R & R of the internals. We gotta bounce on out of here for a while but when I get back later I might try that. Still learning the photo options on this new MAC. What I really want to do is a side-by-side of ACS, C-Products Gen II 30 round mags and the J-mags so we can compare the followers and mag front end. If I can find my calipers I'll take some measurements and post it all on here. Might prove to be interesting after all. Thanks for the suggestion.

LOL ... same problem here. I was told by the Tech I talked to that the former C-Products went belly up and 2 partners split; one forming ASC and the other forming C-Products Defense. I was told by this guy that one of the problems with ASC 30-rd. mags is the middle of the mag body is actually smaller than it should be whereas C-Products focused on this when engineering their new Gen. II 30-round mags. Unfortunately i have bought several ASC 30-round mags. I'm hoping C-Products Defense will offer springs and followers eventually that I can swap in to the ASC mags, and hopefully get the ASC 30-round mags to work right. For now, I have 1 Gen II C-Products Defense 30-round mad and 5 of the new "J" mags and as soon as this rain lets up I'm heading to the range. By the way ... the Tech with C-Products also stated that the 25 round .308 PMAGS are weak and are known to crack. Stated his steel mags are now the best made for the AR-308. Can anyone verify this claim?

Thanks folks for all the assistance. I'm using a MAC and obviously the programs I have are not sufficient to downsize anything. I had to send these 4 to my wife for editing. My phone is an Android and I don't use the photo feature much so I couldn't find an editor for my phone camera that is already on the camera. I'll try the helpful suggestions above. Meanwhile, I hope these photos help out. We're going to head off to church but when I get back I'll do some more photos, side-by-sides with the ASC, C-Products Defense Gen II 30 round mags and these new J-mags and hopefully Y'all will be able to get a better understanding of what doesn't work and why. Again ... I have not tried the new "J" mags yet so I really don't know if they will work or not. Thanks for the assistance and patience.

Here's the top of the new 28 rd. "J" mag. You can see a difference at the front with the front and bottom of the follower being above the metal case of the mag:

What made you decide to move to the 308 AR/AR-10 Platform?

?????????????? -
Well folks ... I gave it my best efforts in trying to post these photos on here. I took 4 of them but whenever I used the "attach file" features it appears all 4 of them are too big. I don't know how to correct that. If somebody could take the time to walk me through it all I'll be glad to try it again but as for now it's time to hit the bunk here before the house floats off after all this rain.

I've thought about getting some NRA and NMLRA certifications such as this but never had the time. I may pursue it when I retire in about 13 months.
-
And another thing while I'm at it ... I've had a hard time posting links on here. I don't know if it's something different with this new Apple laptop or what? I try to transfer links on to here but to no avail. I can copy a link from an e-mail to a "reply" section here but it doesn't seem to copy right. I cannot seem to find the link in any areas of the original e-mail like I used to, if that makes any sense to anyone ... (???)
-
OK thank but do I crop it on the phone first before I send it to my e-mail, or do I do this once I open the attachment in my e-mail, or here somewhere on this website?

Go back and look at the older posts again. I said all I ever reloaded was shotgun shells a long, long time ago. You obviously need more sleep. -
Nope. Won't be done with the camera on the computer. Lighting is terrible. I'll be back in a while.
-
I need to figure out if I'll do a better photo via my cell phone or the webcam here on the computer, then how I will be able to load it on here ... ??? If somebody could explain how I go about doing one or both of the above I'll be able to post pics from here on out.
