  1. Well, at least it's one more thing we have in common, EngrBob
  2. I've lived in Palm Beach, West Palm Beach, Riveria Beach, North Palm Beach, Lake Park, Jupiter, Hobe Sound, Ft Lauderdale, Hollywood (Fla) and Key West...but that was before I moved to Texas
  3. Aero M5 (assembled) Upper & .750" gas-block for the 308, Still need a Ballistics Advantage black-phosphate BCG & black melonite gas tube. For the ar15, a Mech Armor trigger & TacOps1, mil-spec adj stock assy w/carbine buffer, tube & spring, cheapo A2 flash-hider & crush-washer, a black melonite gas-tube , and one 5.56x45 Field Gauge. Still need a Juggernaut Tactical 12" handguard @$150
  4. Just ordered an Aero M5 assembled Upper and a gas-block for a 308, thru the avantlink up yonder at the top of the page.
  5. What barrel did you end up with? I am wondering if it's stamped .308Win or 7.62 NATO. The headspace gauges for the two chambers are a little different. I've found Go/No-Go/Field sets for the .308 and Minimum & Maximum gauges for the 7.62, as well as a Special .308 gauge 1.633" length which Brownell's says is also a "tight" 7.62 Match Gauge (7.62 standard Min is 1.634") With a Go/No-Go/Field set, the BCG should chamber the Go, not chamber the No-Go, and if it chambers the FIeld gauge the weapon is dangerous to shoot. On the 7.62, it should chamber the Min but not the Max.
  6. They have a dream
  7. I have one complete 7.62/.308 shooter & two builds going at the same time - a 5.56/.223 and a long range 308Win. It's a fun but expensive hobby
  8. Sounds like the Raiders in a New Jersey accent.
  9. Awesome song and sound. Much better than the original
  10. It would work better than some in a world without batteries if that were ever necessary. I wonder what height 'iron' sights it needs? Don't know anything about the absolute or co-witness stuff, yet
  11. Also thinking about this one http://www.7-62precision.com/mepro-m21-self-powered-day-night-reflex-sight/ Mepro M21. It's in stock! SO tempting
  12. I contacted the Hartman site to inquire about what the pre-order price for the new MH1 sight is. No response yet. I'm actually considering it.
  13. Yep, that's what I meant too, at least after afterthought
  14. Ex meth friends. Well, if someone has to have them, EX-methheads are the best kind to have.
  15. You never sounded like a liberal gun-grabber to me, mrmackc. No sir, never.
  16. No sir, none of those either but 513 running between I-30 & Lone Oak was an awesome crotch-rocket ride. It's a miracle I'm still alive too
  17. Like Tony says "They're Great!" but it's fun to be a Steeler fan deep in the heart of Texas too ;)
  18. No, sir. Been to Paris and Bonham but never between the two.
  19. I've heard it said (forum members excluded no doubt and never within the echos of these chambers I reckon) that AR sometimes refers to a hole's rifle. Got two barrels for my DPMS LR-308 AR-10 Oracle: a 16" DPMS chambered in 7.62 NATO and a Ballistics Advantage 18" chambered in 308Win. Only takes a few minutes to swap between the two. The 18" BA w/match ammo is more accurate way way out there but the 7.62 can get down & dirty jacking copious amounts of cheap steel case Russian rounds downrange and is nothing to be sneezed at when it comes to accuracy. But, Gator's 20" McGowan would probably drive tacks a little better than both of 'em
  20. Armalite and DPMS will both get you out of a pinch when needed. I love 'em both
  21. I suppose it is easy to carry (easier if concealed no doubt) in many places where it is technically illegal to possess a firearm. The biggest problem could happen when there is an 'incident' that brings the fact that someone was carrying "illegally" in such places where doing so is illegal by local, state or federal law. I wouldn't take the risk unless the risk of not doing so outweighs the other.
  22. Makes sense. I've never had an interest in them so I know nothing about the regulations.
  23. Something about the update I am noticing...it's easy to lose threads now. I used to use the My activity dropdown at the top right of the page to see comments I've made but the new Activity tab on the left bunches everyone else's comments in with mine so that mine are more difficult to find. Very time consuming to hit the Show More Activity over & over looking for something I want to add to. Lost one where I was made aware of THE RULE and I'm tired of digging through hundreds of comments trying to find it.
  24. They were selling them from a table at the gunshow this weekend. Police were in attendance. Didn't seem to be an issue for them.
