  1. Okay, am I missing something? Based on the info in the OP, it sounds like the only issue is that the mags will hold more rounds than they were originally intended for. Where is the safety issue?
  2. Wait, what? The only issue is that the 10-round magazine is capable of holding more than 10 rounds? I fail to see how that's a personal safety issue capable of causing injury or death. Legal issues for the user? Perhaps...
  3. BCG came in today, all nice and clean. Into the parts drawer it goes...
  4. 'Preciate that, brother!
  5. Now, then, we know this will work in DPMS-pattern uppers. Will it work in Armalite uppers? I have a buddy who's just bought a complete AR-10 who wants to install a JP handguard on it. While we've got it apart, I'd like to lap the upper for him. Does anyone have a blueprint and/or measurements for the I.D. of an LR-308 upper vs. an AR-10 upper?
  6. Update: Sent the NLA carrier off on 6/12. Got an e-mail from Dan Lubbers at NLA on 6/14, saying he received it, had it together and tested it by hand in a rifle. E-mail today, it's been test fired and checked out good. Money paid, it'll be on its way home tomorrow morning. If the duration of its first trip is any indication, I should have it in hand on Monday.
  7. Just to bring this thread full-circle... I ordered one of the PTG tools last night.
  8. Some pretty run-of-the-mill stuff headed my way... Fulton Armory low-profile clamp-on gas block and .030" GB shim, for a buddy's AR-10. He found himself a JP Rapid Config. handguard that fits his needs, but he's got an AR-10 Defense (carbine gas, A2 carbine handguard, railed block). So she goes under the knife as soon as the Man In Brown stops by. As an aside, that JP barrel nut system is fvckin' weird...
  9. Please do! I just talked to the wife about this, erm, "rumor," and she asked about exchanging her Coyote 19X for a black one once the local pusher is able to get ahold of one. Save me a bunch of money on black Cerakote...
  10. This has me intrigued. If this is the case, I may just sell the coyote one (with SWMBO's approval...), and use the money to pick her up a black one. Then she can have her front serrations milled, and only have to Cerakote the slide.
  11. Bookmarking this post... ?
  12. My upper will be Fulton, as well, so that's great to know! As an aside, I recently lapped 2 Fulton AR-15 uppers. One was perfect from the start -- perfectly round shiny spot after "touching" it with the lapping tool, just as a guide. The second one, on the other hand, was a beast...
  13. Working on building up my CSASS-type rifle, and realized I might need/want to lap the front of the upper receiver. This is a DPMS-pattern build. PTG makes an "AR-10" upper receiver lapping tool... http://pacifictoolandgauge.com/ar-tools/10318-ar-15-upper-receiver-lapping-tool.html If this is, truly, an AR-10 tool, is there any reason (I.D. of the receiver, specifically) it shouldn't work for an LR-308 pattern receiver?
  14. I've recently been turned on to these pins, as well. SS, spiral wound, tapered on both ends, no?
  15. Just so this thread isn't completely worthless...
  16. ...you're welcome... ?
  17. SLR handguard and rifle-length nitrided gas tube arrived today. Starting to get a good little pile o' parts built up here...
  18. ...yet another reason for my wife to hate this forum... Gorgeous car, wish I could afford it. Or had a place to store it. Or could buy it without having to live in it.
  19. I've always been into the '80s turbo cars. My current "toy" is a 1981 Turbo Trans Am. It gets lots of looks and questions anywhere we go. I've always wanted a GNX, but I'd settle for a T-Type. Honestly, though, my dream car is a 1989 20th Anniversary Turbo Trans Am. The "last generation," so to speak, of the Turbo 6.
  20. Is there some master list of what companies actually manufacture uppers and lowers for certain arms makers? Everyone seems to be plugged in to who makes what for whom, and I'm out of the loop... ?
  21. Welcome aboard, Jordan.
  22. LMAO! Personally, I like the FDE. But I/she will have to check her department's policy re: firearms finishes...
  23. ...the pic in a holster, in a pair of pants? I thought that was a continuation of an inside joke that I didn’t get... Lmao!
  24. My wife is a Glock fanatic (XDs are more my speed, but whatever). When they released the G19X, she told me how much she wanted one. So I bought her one. As it'll be a duty pistol, it's going to be Cerakoted, probably Graphite Black. All of it. Slide, frame, mags, extra backstraps. One of her coworkers had front slide serrations milled into a G17, and she says she likes it (again, not for me, but it's her pistol). So I'm now looking at having this brand new, unfired pistol milled and Cerakoted before she lays hands on it. Our anniversary is tomorrow (shiit, I need to get a card...), and she's already told me the rifle I built her was more than enough for an anniversary gift. So maybe this'll be a "late-anniversary-early birthday" gift. I.e., a complete surprise.
  25. I can’t say I was screwed over — I got a good deal on the carrier. But NLA gave me the full story on those carriers he’s peddling. @shepp If you’re interested, I’ll share the story via PM. Trying not to stir up a shiitpot, at the request of NLA.
