  1. If you look north across the inlet to the mountains I'm up in the trees. Vancouver lacks some imagination with names, there is Vancouver the city. When locals talk about North Vancouver(were I'm at) it's a separate city along with West Vancouver but East Van(couver) is part of Vancouver If you or any other member here is visiting please feel free to PM me. You can still hunt black bear, the grizzly hunt has been stopped to protect them. This of course doesn't explain why there are now grizzlies in area they haven't been in either for ever or 40-50 years+,also band members are exempt from this prohibition.Ironically many of them fought for this, I guess that's one way to reduce the competition on the woods. My 1st choice in bear/cougar country
  2. So one has to ask...is Shepp ahead of the curve or just trying to catch up?
  3. The occasionally cut through the neighborhood, actually prefer them to raccoons, less of a pest
  4. The plan is each one will be a different variant. This one might interest you, one of the seedlings is destined to grow an become an Israeli M14 sniper rifle. At this point I have everything now(including the ugly stock) but the scope and of course time. The pictures show how the Israeli's dealt with getting a good cheek weld. It ain't pretty but it works.
  5. I have some M1A seedling...
  6. Thanks I'm pretty excited Dies, bullets primers and powder ordered just need to find some brass
  7. http://www.iowastatedaily.com/opinion/article_1c144792-b36d-11e2-8ac6-001a4bcf887a.html I keep this on handy,a lot of his observation about dealing with antis applies up here to. I particularly like the paragraphs that begin "Gun people don’t trust anti-gun people because " I find most people up here aren't in either camp and a little bit of education goes along way to showing we're not the demonic hate filled kitten killers the antis try and portray us as.
  8. Well Saturday it was announced the Stag 10S 6.5 Creedmore is non-restricted in Canada. Today I bought one, expected delivery mid July.
  9. It's a nice theory but the reality is that our numbers are to small and while a chunk of the population is indifferent to firearms it also means they are indifferent if they are banned. The population of my province(blue outline) is 4.6 million, heck California has more people living in that one state then all of Canada.Trying to organize the different groups has been an ongoing challenge. We don't have the 2nd or anything like it in our corner. Up here it's more of a long term guerrilla were we fight on a number of fronts.Social media and the internet has helped and allowed us to get our message out and fight the antis publicly along with educating the non-shooters that before only heard the antis message via a biased media. The threat of tougher new regulations has gotten people off the fence and increasing the number of firearms owners and spike in gun sales, gun ranges have waiting list. Ironically if I moved to the USA,I'd have to a good 30-35% of my stuff on this side of the boarder. Then depending on which state I chose I'd lose more.I have 2 FFL dealer/importers I use to get stuff out of the USA but once it's in Canada guns can be mailed directly to a persons house. While things still have a ways to go we've made some gains with the previous government and now the current government is trying to bring in new laws but it's being fought. If things don't work out here maybe you'll let me know where this utopia of freedom is that I'm free to own what I want ,do what I want as long as my actions don't cause a problem(snowflakes be dammed)
  10. He is right about one thing, the laws are confusing and can appear contradictory. In some cases there are exceptions to the exception. While you guys south of the boarder have 'boating' accidents,in Canada we have Mike in Canmore who buys everyone's guns. He's recently opened up a pawnshop...
  11. For a brief overview on Canadian Firearms Law https://forum.308ar.com/topic/16028-a-quick-primer-in-to-canadian-gun-laws/ A lot of the fun guns ended up being classed as restricted limiting their use to approved ranges only. The AR -10 and AR-15 were made restricted by name not physical parameter. The newer 308ARs were classed as variants of the AR-15.Rumor has it that the firearms council(full of antis) took the 1989 Gun Digest and circled all the scary looking guns and made them either prohibited or restricted The good news is that newly designed firearms were classes on their overall and barrel length not as being an AR variant. Rumor has it this is done by trying the lower with existing uppers to see if they fit. To that end several Canadian manufactures have submitted firearms that are similar and many case use a majority of available AR components(furniture, barrels, triggers etc) which not only keep cost down but allow further customizing after purchase. In no particular order- BCL102 in .308 and soon available in 6.5Creedmore The Kodiak Defense WK180 in 5.56 with 7.62 x 39mm being talked about Macabee Defense is making a stripped upper/lower that allows one to transfer all the existing parts of an AR-15 and creating a non-restricted rifle(as long as overall length and barrel length meet the criteria. I would be remiss in not pointing out that a number of USA manufacture have worked with Canadian distributors/retailer to provide/make changes to comply with Canadian law and providing more options for non-restricted firearms.
  12. Just got word my M17S 308 is on route to Canada This all started with a 2 year wait to get it classified... it's non-restricted here in Canada
  13. I wonder if I could pass it off as an antique and avoid having it classed as a restricted rifle here in Canada?
  14. Here I was thinking cigarettes was prison currency...
  15. Just got the email that my BCL 102 rifle is in the mail and to be delivered to the house Monday, been waiting since Dec for this email. The BCL 102 is a newly designed Canadian .308 AR style rifle that is not a restricted class rifle as all AR 10s and 15s. The quick and dirty is I'm not restricted to range use only. Because of design it does allow the use of common AR parts and accessories. Quick YouTube video(not me) but mine is also the same colour ODG,
  16. I use a local commercial yard that lets me pick my lumber, suspect up here some of the big chain stores you'll find the slightly undersized and rough looking lumber.
  17. 1 1/2 x 3 1/2 inches for now
  18. Blonde, brunette or red head...what's it calibrated for? As a Canadian although officially metric,it's easier to find SAE hardware at local hardware store,it's still 2x4s and 4x8. While I work in both I do prefer mm over fractional for the smaller stuff, guesstimating weight I prefer pounds, MPG makes more sense than L/100KM
  19. What's worse it breeds...
