Good shoot. Could have went differently had other choices been made, but good shoot nonetheless. After spotting it I probably would have sat for a minute or two and then made my own tracks off the trail if it didn't wander off the other way. I don't carry with an empty chamber in the backcountry myself, but if I were carrying that way I sure as poop would have chambered a round right after seeing the moose. That 2nd charge would have sealed that animals fate, if not the first.......

Yep. Saw that one maybe a week ago. Few weeks ago they had a killer deal on a P226 Elite. Now they bumped it up $50. I have no extra gun money right now anyway so its all moot for me. CDNN has got the deals though. I'd say 1 in 10 of their promotional emails gives me half a chub.

Well I bit the bullet and decided to try a pair of Larue 20 round 7.62 mags. I'm thinking hard about a pair of ASCs and DPMS' as well. The one thing that sucks about this platform is how much more trial and error is involved. It also doesn't help that there is a wide and wild disparity of recommendations as to what works and what doesn't. If my bank account wasn't so anemic, this whole 'you get what you pay for' deal wouldn't be as much of an issue. ?

I can't decide. Mag reviews for an AR in .308/7.62 are way more hit or miss than 5.56/.223.......or so it seems. I really need to just buy 2 or 3 of a few different brands and see how they do. But apparently I'm a cheapass and can't get past the thought of paying shipping from 4 different places. That actually kills me to think about. I'm tempted to try those DPMS mags. But I'm also thinking about buying a pair of the Larue 7.62's. And then it's all just kinda silly because I know the PMAGs work great. But that doesn't give me that warm fuzzy feeling of having a bunch of spare metal magazines.

I have Gen3 LR/SR PMAGs and I just received my first Lancer L7AWM to try out. I have zero experience with metal mags. Which metal mags are your go to? My rifle is a DIY AERO M5E1 and this is the build thread I'm looking for some steel or aluminum mags to have on hand for the future. These would mainly be to have and store, after checking function of course.

So it may look a little funny. 2A Armament X4 Titanium Brake comes with new in package muzzle device alignment set $110 shipped The X4 Titanium brake is a lightweight muzzle device for large bore applications. The X4 was developed with a large initial chamber that provides a reactive surface for gasses to mitigate recoil. The secondary chamber provides some compensating effect. The X4 was tuned to provide a softer felt impulse over traditional brakes. The X4 Titanium is a welcome addition to any large bore rifle where weight is a concern. Lower 48 or shipping cost may need to bump up a hair. Used this on one outing. I now have a QD suppressor mount brake. This 2A X4 is a sweet piece but I just so happened to turn right back around and buy a suppressor so I no longer have any need for it.

They should have stripped and then blue'd the handguard maybe.
