I don't see what industry standards have to do with PSA finding out of spec parts acceptable. Two quarters thick is a big margin of error. Mine required three quarters, so I ordered a replacement from a company that keeps parts in spec. If PSA cared to do the job right we wouldn't see so many complaints on this forum about the same parts. Granted the rifle is sold at a good price, and granted the repair price was low enough that the price is still acceptable. But let's remember the standard quote about failing the same way many times while proceeding in the same way = insanity. A reasonable person would think PSA would start a quality control program. A reasonable person would think they would have a better means to address problems than depending on comments in a public forum being resolved by an employee that is probably working out of the goodness of his heart. Such a reasonable person might also think that a single point of contact within the company such as the poor person in "customer service" department answering the phone would have access to the information they needed to resolve problems. In my rather limited experience with them you would be wrong. End rant. If someone can point me to a flaw in my logic or provide facts I don't have on this subject, please do. I don't think Josiah is the problem, and I am sure he is doing the best he can to help us out. Maybe his employer will step up.

When will they fix the many out of spec buffer tubes?
-
Magwa, you are absolutely right, personal responsibility, that is what we learned at home, in school, and at play. We certainly don't see many of todays teachers or parents setting good examples or leading from the front.

Good plan sketch. Does anyone have any additional thoughts?

Buffers, receiver extensions, stocks, and springs
Hotwrench replied to Spart's topic in .308AR Parts
O.K. anyone that wants to and knows can answer this for me. I just ordered a D.P.M.S.rifle buffer because the Armalite was out of stock at DSG for 30 days. I ordered the Armalite rifle receiver extension and spring from them. Will this combination work on my PA10 GII. After reading this post I still don't know but it looks like there might be a length problem. The PA10 came with an out of spec carbine set up. Did the original post ever get updated, I can't tell? -
My fur missile is scared of guns and gun sounds. Every time we shoot at the range (country backyard range) he hides and trembles. Anyone have any thoughts on helping him understand that he can eat any threats I shoot and in the meantime I am practising. I am going out in a minute to shoot over the chrono and my wife is going to take him for a ride, not good since she wants to shoot too.

I plan to follow his suggestions, we should start a new religion based on his .300 Blk loading instructions. The way things are going we may need it.

300 AAC Blackout Operations, Maintenance and Troubleshooting Manual
Hotwrench replied to 98Z5V's topic in 300 AAC Blackout
Thanks but you were right, very limited information but I got that fucker on my hard drive so I can get whatever is there. -
Checked it, downloaded it, printed it for future reference. This forum is like a f@3%ing onion, layers and layers. I don't think I had a clue how much was here. Still don't, still exploring. I see that you haven't answered my question yet, must be true, people in hot climates move slow.

300 AAC Blackout Operations, Maintenance and Troubleshooting Manual
Hotwrench replied to 98Z5V's topic in 300 AAC Blackout
98, you know how they say "no good deed goes unpunished", well here is your punishment, do you still have a copy of this? Perhaps on a D.O.S. machine or a stone tablet? The link is dead after only 7 years, who would have thunk? -
Thanks. I have a Faxon gunner on a 20inch AR that works well so that is what I will look at for the blk.
-
Would you have any thoughts that would make a build better? I would like to know about any mistakes so I don't have to make them, again.
-
If I give my wife a pink gun she promises to use it on me.
-
98, do you have any experience with the .300BLK in an AR pistoI? have been thinking that would make a good truck gun. It should have better range than a pistol if the need arose to stand off from a threat and be short enough to put out of sight until needed. I would think 1-200 yards would be possible with reasonable accuracy. If you had to leave your truck in a breakdown situation carrying it in a back pack would be better than toting a rifle and calling unnecessary attention to yourself . Anyone have thoughts on this?

My fur missile is a rescue as well, so far we aren't sure who rescued who. He lives to play. No matter how hard or far I throw a tennis ball he can generally chase it down before it quits moving, grab it, bring it back and ready for another.
-
Thanks, I have heard about this, even know how to check with a paperclip, but never saw one. It will make I.D. a lot easier.

No, shooter is an idiot! And most are also cowards.

I not only learn about .308AR's and reloading here, I learn about human nature, good and bad. Your comments make the saying, "the more people I meet the better I like my dog" a lot less true. So thanks for advocating education and communication, the two most important tools we have.

It is a good thing you never get too old to learn, cause I just learned something. I thought the M118 LR/SR only held 5 more rounds. Will it fit a PA10, Magpul's site didn't show it specifically? How can I PM some of yall, I am tired of showing my ignorance to the whole net?

Mounted a Dillon swager on a new steel plate. Drilled and tapped 1/4-20 machine screws to hold it steady and still be able to swap it with a brass trimmer. Like everyone says, "you can never have enough bench". I thought I had enough but I got fooled. I have the presses mounted with drilled and tapped bolts on 1/2 inch steel plates so I can move them around as needed and they are solid mounted, no movement.

I am all ears, what do you look for on the case in addition to obvious primer problems? I like 98Z5Z's thoughts on this load. Why beat up to gun and gunner? I am sure my round won't exceed 2.80 and fit into a Magpul Magazine and function every time. If it doesn't go "BANG" every time it needs fixing or replacing, a.s.a.p. What magazine do you use that has more clearance? PA10, 1:10 twist
-
Thanks, it looks like I am there and still have room to adjust o.a.l. a bit and find out what my rifle likes, as long as its shorter since I am at the magazine length at least for sure function in Magpuls.

Please give your opinion of what f.p.s.would be ideal for a 20 inch barrel, 150gr FMJBT measured at 10 feet from the muzzle. Or asked another way when reloading for a particular rifle what speed are you trying for with a 150gr FMJBT at 10 feet from the muzzle. I am aware that you are also judging by the accuracy on target I am just trying to set my parameters. While we are at it what s.d., e.s., and do you believe is possible for this round in the real world? So far I have a average max of 2560 f.p.s., s.d. of 19.97 and an e.s. 68 f.p.s. and decent accuracy with a 10 round sample using P.P.U. projectiles. See attached excel file and comment on the construction of the spreadsheet, it is my first attempt and some of you have been doing this far longer and more successfully than I have. I am using the 4320 because I bought a big jug at 70% off when a LGS quit selling reloading components. Reloading work up PA10.xlsx

Survivalshop, tell us about the cordless drill set up. The hose clamp/speed control looks like a particularly good idea.

Welcome Josiah. I hope you can straighten out the PA10 recoil system and then in your spare time have a positive impact on your fellow c.s.a.`s. May I suggest a large bat, that might be just enough impact.
