  1. I think this thread has been well served and I'm going to close it, as it's relevance is expiring. If anyone wants to reopen this thread at any time, please feel free to mention it to myself or another Admin/Moderator.
  2. That's a cool trick Robo, who knew you were the MacGuyver of the CHP? <laughs>
  3. Welcome to the forums! You'll enjoy that Mk12 brother, got one myself sometime back and I've thoroughly enjoyed it.
  4. I won't pretend that I don't have high expectations for that kind of money spent myself, but at the same time I just can't see what's being lost here unless the rifle was bought just for the sake of being pretty. Yes, a ding fresh from the factory isn't sunshine and rainbows, but in the total scale of things it's not really this big of a deal either. This is all compounded by the fact that Armalite hasn't had a chance to respond yet.
  5. Don't get me wrong, I love a flawless gun just as much as the next guy, but these rifles aren't really meant to be artwork, they're meant to serve as an implement of lethal force. It isn't going to be any less functional for a slight ding on the ejection port cover. I think your perspective of Armalite will improve with every squeeze of the trigger, but you gotta get beyond the cosmetics to get there.
  6. Thanks to all our American veterans, past and present. God bless you and your families one and all.
  7. ROFLMAO Maybe they don't understand anything but doggie style... <laughs> <lmao> Sorry, I couldn't resist. :cookoo: <munch>
  8. Troy and Magpul are both good recommendations, both have a good reputation. Oh, and welcome to the forums by the way. <thumbsup>
  9. Welcome to the forums! Sorry to hear that you weren't pleased with the state of your rifle when it arrived. Is this something you've discussed with Armalite? Being that they are a primary supporter of our forums here, I'm sure they would appreciate a chance to make amends if this isn't something you've already discussed with them.
  10. You won't have to have a new carrier. The carrier you have will work because the forward assist will catch the rear shoulder on the carrier and push it into battery.
  11. I know right off the bat that they're going for about $125 @ brownells, I don't remember what I gave for mine, but I'm not going to be using it and if you want it, you're welcome to it.
  12. I have a brand spanking new A3 upper receiver that I'm not going to be using if you're interested. It's the new height, and easy to find matching FFHGs.
  13. Let it out brother, it makes my day to hear someone talk sense, especially in the current political climate.
  14. I purchased it late in February, my check cashed in March, approval went through on April 5th, and I got my tax stamp November 8th. A little beyond 8 months total.
  15. If enough interest doesn't get shown here, PM me the cost of a one-off, but I'm sure there's plenty here in the community that could make good use of one.
  16. You got that right, I'm already dreaming about working up a subsonic load that will still cycle the rifle. I'm about to go full-blown ape feces insane giddy little girl scout high order madness over this crap!
  17. It is my understanding that the hammer spring on the .308 model is stronger, and the hammer is slightly wider from what I'm told. I can't verify that, but take it for what it's worth. Myself, I'd prefer the 308 specific model even if I didn't know any different.
  18. Well, since I know Tom will try to sell you the Gieselle, I'm going to try to preempt him and sell you the ATC/PACT SR Gold. I'm pretty sure Tom does have both though, so you could ask him how they compare.
  19. The first 3 of 5 digits are 562--, which is to say that my receiver is fairly well into the older style. My bolt carriers are: DPMS Standard Young Mfg. SS chromed SI Defense NiB coated 416 SS
  20. UPDATE!!! I got a call from my NFA dealer today, letting me know that my Tax Stamp arrived yesterday. My suppressor is now OFFICIALLY mine, and I can't wait to get that sucker mounted up and putting rounds downrange. I'm so excited I can't stand it. I've spent the whole day giggling maniacally... <laughs> I have determined that there will not only be pics, but video posted when I get this baby put on. Keep your eyes peeled! ;D
  21. That is an awesome little tool, it's so simple it's brilliant! I want one myself!
  22. I simply called Troy and gave them the information that DPMS had given me based on my serial number. I gave them the description that DPMS had given me, and they sent me the correct rail height in exchange for the one I'd bought. Did I mention that I didn't have a receipt for my FFHG, and it was FDE instead of black? Not only did they exchange my item for the one of the right height, but they gave it to me in my preferred color as well. That is unbeatable service, and is why I will buy from Troy every chance I get.
  23. Troy has FFHGsr for both heights, DPMS fed you a line of BS. As long as you know which one you have, Troy will send you the correct one.
  24. I feel like I've most of the people on this forum for a lifetime. Definitely many like-minded people in this forum, I'll be around till' they drag me out kicking & screaming and trying to bribe my way back in. <thumbsup>
  25. If you're speaking figuratively about our country, I agree. As individuals capable of seeing through the smoke & mirrors, I think we are definitely NOT screwed. There is quite a difficult road ahead of us, no question about that, but the time has come when the weak will fall prey to fate, and the strong will be all the stronger for it.
