  1. Let me grab my calipers real quick and I'll get right back to you....
  2. Well, the GSG plan has been officially derailed until my tax returns come in... Poor thing got shot out of the saddle by a Para Ordinance GI LTC that I just couldn't pass up. Looks just like this one, only with black rubber Hogue grips: I blame it on Greg for buying those fancy Christmas presents for his wife.
  3. He ain't kidding, I found this out the hard way. Lucky for me, Dave Tooley is a wizard with a lathe, and he turned my Bennie Cooley comp down to where my .936 gas block slipped right over it. Worked like a charm, all the way up until the Bennie Cooley gave up it's spot for the Ops Inc brake.
  4. There's a guy who sells the adapters for them, has a video on youtube. It works like a charm too. Probably the least expensive way to have a suppressed weapon out there. You'd be hard pressed to find a total suppressor purchase for $275 anywhere else.
  5. The false suppressor is threaded on, and as far as I know, doesn't attenuate any sound.
  6. Brother I got a couple laying around you're welcome to, you wouldn't have to pay anything but shipping costs. Let me know if it comes down to that, I have no need for them.
  7. This guy puts it as clearly and concisely as you could wish for... I'll be sharing this link with anyone who asks that ridiculous question from now on.
  8. I was kind of counting on that, you know a dude that runs a Tactical .22 site knows some stuff about where to get them for the best prices.
  9. Done! If anybody else sees something in the meantime, give me a shout.
  10. Measure the ID of the barrel nut and have your barrel turned down to an easy slip fit by a qualified gunsmith.
  11. I'm looking to find a GSG 1911-22, they're currently being imported by ATI. If you see a good deal on one, please let me know. I'd prefer to have any of the models that come pre-threaded for suppressors or muzzle attachments, because I will ultimately want it to host a suppressor. Thanks guys!
  12. There are 4 branches to the BATFE brother, better get you some tannerite and take care of that 4th branch! <thumbsup>
  13. I digress to your point, but in the same sentence Mr. LaPierre pointed out the boatloads of money that we're pouring into other countries instead of taking care of our own. It's not that we can't afford to do it, what we can't afford is to keep spending money in the places we're spending it.
  14. I can't help but wonder, can that issue still be opened? Without the assistance of paint thinner, I mean. <laughs>
  15. Funny how some of those petite types just love the 1911. My wife certainly does, 5' 7" and maybe 140lbs soaking wet. What can I say, she can dang near outshoot me with my own pistol.
  16. You landed right in the middle of the best expertise on this platform you could possibly find on the web! Welcome to the forums! Your rifle is in fact a .308 rifle. It is chambered with 7.62x51 reamer, which means that the chamber is designed for NATO spec 7.62x51 ammunition. The technical explanation being quite lengthy, your short answer is that the .308 Winchester and 7.62x51, are externally the exact same round. Internally, the difference is in the case thickness and SAAMI specs, the primary difference being that the NATO round has a thicker case. They are interchangeable. Your answer will depend on your primary use for this weapon, if you need the most you can get accuracy wise, .308 Winchester match ammo will probably give you the best results. If you want to shoot as affordably as possible, 7.62 military surplus or equivalent will probably be your go to option. We're proud to have Armalite as a forum sponsor, you can simply contact them through their website, they should be able to tell you exactly what you have based on a description and serial number. I'm sure they'd be able to answer all your questions with a simple phone call. In the collective experience here, these larger frame ARs like to be run quite well oiled for their first couple hundred rounds or so. Sometimes it's necessary, sometimes it isn't but you have nothing to lose by being prepared to oil it up if you experience any problems within your first few rounds. Enjoy your new rifle, and again, welcome to the forums!
  17. The point made about veterans was a very good one, I never stopped to think about what memories and thoughts are attached to an M16-style rifle for a veteran. Makes it a little easier to understand their sentiment.
  18. That's pretty sweet, I got a little RC heli for Christmas a couple years ago. I fire it up every once in a while and chase the kids through the house with it. They giggle uncontrollably and shriek and run, I laugh until it hurts just watching the fun.
  19. Times are changing, and people don't like change. I think the very fact that you've seen camo ARs hitting the shelves in Sporting Goods stores for the last 5 years lends itself to the suggestion that minds are changing about this amongst the recreational shooting community. However, a big ship turns slow, and the majority of the hunting population is probably above the median of about 40 years of age.
  20. Oh I'll mourn with action for sure, bring that overweight butt within swinging distance of my boot, and I'll show you action. >:(
  21. They aren't even cheaper than their competitors, much less cheaper than dirt.
  22. I signed. Thanks for posting it.
  23. Yes sir, my sentiments exactly. Outstanding.
  24. They can't allow anything to eclipse the tragedy that's currently serving them so well... Unfortunately, that doesn't surprise me at all. Yeah, it pisses me off too.
  25. Good advice, if you'll PM me your info, I'll get a cost of shipping though I'll send you one you can test out for yourself. I ran into reliability problems with mine, but this is a chance to test one for the cost of shipping without being obliged to buy. This offer stands for anyone who wants to test a rifle-length hydraulic AR10 buffer.
