I was kind of counting on that, you know a dude that runs a Tactical .22 site knows some stuff about where to get them for the best prices.

Done! If anybody else sees something in the meantime, give me a shout.

Measure the ID of the barrel nut and have your barrel turned down to an easy slip fit by a qualified gunsmith.

I'm looking to find a GSG 1911-22, they're currently being imported by ATI. If you see a good deal on one, please let me know. I'd prefer to have any of the models that come pre-threaded for suppressors or muzzle attachments, because I will ultimately want it to host a suppressor. Thanks guys!

There are 4 branches to the BATFE brother, better get you some tannerite and take care of that 4th branch! <thumbsup>

I digress to your point, but in the same sentence Mr. LaPierre pointed out the boatloads of money that we're pouring into other countries instead of taking care of our own. It's not that we can't afford to do it, what we can't afford is to keep spending money in the places we're spending it.

I can't help but wonder, can that issue still be opened? Without the assistance of paint thinner, I mean. <laughs>

Anyone have expeience with a Sig 239 9mm? (For wife)
Matt.Cross replied to SPBCTS's topic in Handguns
Funny how some of those petite types just love the 1911. My wife certainly does, 5' 7" and maybe 140lbs soaking wet. What can I say, she can dang near outshoot me with my own pistol. -
You landed right in the middle of the best expertise on this platform you could possibly find on the web! Welcome to the forums! Your rifle is in fact a .308 rifle. It is chambered with 7.62x51 reamer, which means that the chamber is designed for NATO spec 7.62x51 ammunition. The technical explanation being quite lengthy, your short answer is that the .308 Winchester and 7.62x51, are externally the exact same round. Internally, the difference is in the case thickness and SAAMI specs, the primary difference being that the NATO round has a thicker case. They are interchangeable. Your answer will depend on your primary use for this weapon, if you need the most you can get accuracy wise, .308 Winchester match ammo will probably give you the best results. If you want to shoot as affordably as possible, 7.62 military surplus or equivalent will probably be your go to option. We're proud to have Armalite as a forum sponsor, you can simply contact them through their website, they should be able to tell you exactly what you have based on a description and serial number. I'm sure they'd be able to answer all your questions with a simple phone call. In the collective experience here, these larger frame ARs like to be run quite well oiled for their first couple hundred rounds or so. Sometimes it's necessary, sometimes it isn't but you have nothing to lose by being prepared to oil it up if you experience any problems within your first few rounds. Enjoy your new rifle, and again, welcome to the forums!

Another problem - Many hunters are against "Assault Weapons"
Matt.Cross replied to imschur's topic in General Discussion
The point made about veterans was a very good one, I never stopped to think about what memories and thoughts are attached to an M16-style rifle for a veteran. Makes it a little easier to understand their sentiment. -
That's pretty sweet, I got a little RC heli for Christmas a couple years ago. I fire it up every once in a while and chase the kids through the house with it. They giggle uncontrollably and shriek and run, I laugh until it hurts just watching the fun.

Times are changing, and people don't like change. I think the very fact that you've seen camo ARs hitting the shelves in Sporting Goods stores for the last 5 years lends itself to the suggestion that minds are changing about this amongst the recreational shooting community. However, a big ship turns slow, and the majority of the hunting population is probably above the median of about 40 years of age. -
Oh I'll mourn with action for sure, bring that overweight butt within swinging distance of my boot, and I'll show you action. >:(

And Cheaper Than Dirt Too
Matt.Cross replied to planeflyer21's topic in Firearm Industry News and Gossip
They aren't even cheaper than their competitors, much less cheaper than dirt. -
I signed. Thanks for posting it.

Mass school bombing in 1927 puts Sandy Hook in context

They can't allow anything to eclipse the tragedy that's currently serving them so well... Unfortunately, that doesn't surprise me at all. Yeah, it pisses me off too. -
Good advice, if you'll PM me your info, I'll get a cost of shipping though I'll send you one you can test out for yourself. I ran into reliability problems with mine, but this is a chance to test one for the cost of shipping without being obliged to buy. This offer stands for anyone who wants to test a rifle-length hydraulic AR10 buffer.

That in itself is quite the undertaking brother. The preppers/skeptics/conspiracy folks are all standing on firm 'I told you so' ground right now while the rest of us look a little sheepish. I'm hitting up the local gunshow circuit, this time I won't be there to relax and enjoy myself.

The massacre of small children tends to trump things like that, as it should. What noone wants to talk about, is the way this tragedy is being leveraged shamelessly for the anti gun agenda. No doubt about it, the perpetrator of this crime is a lowlife beyond description, but lower still are the scumbags in Washington who are going to use the emotional momentum of this tragedy to move their legislation forward.

I hate to say it gentlemen, but a situation that's been purely hypothetical for decades has overnight become a reality. It's going to be ugly.
-
I agree with you 100%, but you and I aren't politicians, we're realists. You can bet your last dollar that a politician is never going to tell an entitled minority that they're about to have to grow some callouses on that hand getting the handout.

Mental health has it's place in the trial of a person accused of wrong doing. I'm sorry, but I really do not give a rat's ass what their major malfunction is when they are putting bullets in an innocent child. Such a person needs to be incapacitated immediately with extreme prejudice, regardless. I'm with you on this one Jon, an ounce of prevention is worth more than all the legislation they can come up with.

I don't necessarily disagree with police in our schools, but otherwise I echo your sentiments 100%. Having a LEO presence in schools where the majority of adults wouldn't adopt personal firearm use, or are unable to be physically proficient with a weapon, could be the answer to a potential problem. Again, I agree with the rest of your post. The entitlement mentality has been encouraged too long, it's high time people learned to be a self-sufficient society again.
