  1. Is there any way you could show us a picture of your bolt face? The only thing I can imagine is that something on the bolt face is marring it...
  2. I found this little gem which would make life a lot easier for roll-pin installers... *** PRI updated their page. I fixed your link. -Robocop1051
  3. Let me start with a disclaimer that this is my $.02 and I'll gladly concede it to proven facts: It's just like anything else that can get a cult following on a perceived superiority basis. If you find yourself in a tactical situation where you need to perform back-to-back magdumps to the tune of about 10,000 rounds, there is a possibility that you could suffer a gas tube failure, which would be devastating because then you would have to switch a backup weapon AND possibly utilize aimed fire... ( God forbid ) Thus, a piston system is superior because then your only extravagant requirement would be a good thick set of thermal protection gloves so that you can continue holding your red-hot failproof weapon and maintaining ineffective fire long after inferior weapons have burst into flames. <dontknow> ;D Ok, now it's time to be serious... I personally don't find the need to utilize piston systems because I do not operate my weapons under conditions extreme enough to merit their use, but if having a piston system makes you feel better about your weapon's performance and reliability, more power to ya and I wish you the best of luck! <thumbsup> My personal preference is to place the money it takes to buy a piston kit and put it into the factors that affect accuracy. Having said all that, if I found one at the right price I would gladly own a POF built .308 with the piston system, they have an excellent reputation with the shooting community.
  4. Sometime back I bought a PRS in OD Green for a very good price. My MA-TEN build is primarily black though, and looks absolutely beastly with an OD Green stock. So I went to the hardware store today and bought some flat black Krylon and so far it looks pretty good. Is anyone else doing any custom painting?
  5. Keep being patient. Any online vendor that wants to have a good reputation will try to be as expedient as possible with shipping. In other words, if you're having to wait on something, they may just as well be waiting on the same thing. I'm gonna be patient and expect the end result to be worth it.
  6. I have the exact same combo, it took a little coaxing, but went without too much difficulty. It would be interesting to know if the bushy uses the standard length buffer tube....
  7. I have a 2005 Z71 4x4 Silverado!!! We can mount it in mine!
  8. That's great to know! That little kit is a dandy for do-it-yourselfers.
  9. ... so if it's true that opinions are like buttholes, aren't you basically saying that we are quite some buttholes? <laughs> <dontknow> <thumbsup>
  10. Start by filing a small, slight chamfer onto one end of the roll pin. Start the chamfered end into the gas block and tap it in with a small brass/soft mallet making sure you don't drive it so far that the end of the pin breaks the plane of the gas-tube bore. Turn the gas block so that the side opposite the pin faces towards you and place it in a vice with soft jaws. Visually align the gas tube holes (you will need plenty of light in your work area) and then gently tap the roll pin through. Use a roll punch to center up the roll pin to your satisfaction. Finally, pat yourself on the back for a job well done, and make a post about your project here in the forums. This is the easiest way I've been able to find, I'm looking forward to seeing more creative ways to do it, or tools/devices built to make the task easier.
  11. That's pretty comprehensive! <thumbsup>
  12. I agree, Dave is the man. I've been working lots of overtime lately trying to work up some more funds to give to Dave for purposes of growing my gun collection....
  13. I'll bet his gun-control policy will favor the gun owners more until after his campaign season is over.... but I could be wrong.
  14. You could also talk to Lothar Walther, you might have to wait but they are more than willing to accommodate 1-off custom barrels at an unbeatable price.
  15. I'm also going to cast a shameless vote for the PACT SR Gold trigger. If you add bling, it becomes your thing.... and it's just simply an incredible trigger.

    Just two months

Vacationed in Hocking Hills last week and saw so many deer I was drooling & shaking uncontrollably. I bet it will be an awesome season! Wishing you luck... <thumbsup>
  17. If noone else shows interest in the handguard soon, I might want it.
  18. You offered your help and he didn't accept and got suckered, as a former employer once told me: "An education always comes with a cost." Hope your buddy will consult with you next time.
  19. Well I'm glad you asked for my opinion before it was given, it proves that there's a first time for everything! If you want to accomplish the same thing with much less time & money spent, buy a box of this stuff and shoot a box, breakin finished. Clean your bore and shoot whatever suits your fancy after that. At this point I'm pretty sure barrel break-in is primarily advantageous to barrel makers and ammunition manufacturers.
  20. I used the big-ass dpms wrench (BADW), one end is for the ar15 type, and the other for the sr25 type.
  21. Glad to hear it finally came through for ya, Dave is awesome to deal with. Don't forget to leave him some good feedback in the ''Good Guys"thread...
  22. ... exceptions can be made if they are delivering guns or gun components... ;D <thumbsup> <thumbsup>
  23. I got my PACT SR Gold trigger today... HOLY COW BATMAN!!!!! This thing is AWESOME!!!
  24. It also drastically increases felt recoil.... A cut shell kicks like an angry mule!
