  1. I don't know if lockdown has drastically reduced my patience or what, but I'm definitely feeling a bit crankier as of late.
  2. I for one am amazed at how little time it took for the pendulum to swing from the need for JP's boutique race gear to Bear Creek's Dollar General lifetime guarantee....
  3. It has no price, but the cost may be high...
  4. Speaking of which, I happen to now have a Mid-length handguard from Centurion that doesn't have a cut-out. It's going to need a new home soon....
  5. Why would he? After all, somebody else on the internet probably has contradicted you....
  6. That's an excellent guess my brother.... It's a small-minded redneck that only lets one plan bounce around in the ol' brain pan at any given time....
  7. Glad it helped...
  8. Centurion C4 Mid-length Rail @98Z5V it's happening brother!
  9. Thanks for stopping by, best of luck to you.
  10. Because sometimes they don't, and when they don't we take note of it from the folks who experienced it. You can find contradicting information anywhere and everywhere else, and maybe even here as well. Nobody wants to beat you over the head with information, if you aren't inclined to take advice in good faith, do what you want to do and share it so someone who will rely on others' experience learns from it.
  11. Just to straighten out the record, let me clarify: I've never had any issues with any of JP's equipment, everything I have owned of their products was exceptional. If I have a bias with regards to the JP brand, it's in their favor. Also understand I'm not trying to knock the reliability of ANY of their products, certainly not the LMOS or the SCS systems. What I am attempting to do is help you get a 100% effective platform built based on your intended purpose, based on my own experience. Buy what you want, and try what you want, and by all means share the results with us whatever they may be. We're just trying to make recommendations that are consistent with what you'd like to achieve, on the basis of our collective experiences. Buy the JP stuff and share what you learned from it.
  12. JP LMOS - yeah, probably not a good idea for a system that's primarily geared towards accuracy. Race gun? Sure. JP SCS - more of the same. Just because you can, doesn't mean you should. I learned this the hard way on the Enidine Hydraulic Buffer system pursuing similar goals. Long story short, lighter recoil components don't equal a calmer recoil impulse. If anything, they simply accelerate, decelerate, and stop all the more violently. That's probably not a problem unless you understand the usefulness of being able to spot your own impact. Simply put, the standard recoil system will give you both a more tame recoil impulse sequence, and overall reliability with varying ammunition.
  13. Assumptions aren't worth much, as opposed to the many years of first-hand experience you'll encounter here. There are a lot of products that have been proven and disproven amongst this forum's membership, and there's much to be gained from their lost time and money on products that were/are overstated in their effectiveness. Please don't take that the wrong way, I mean no offense or hostility. Just understand that we've seen a great many folks learn the hard way that theory and practicality are frequently worlds apart.
  14. Welcome from NC.
  15. Don't sweat it, you've done your research and that's more than most.
  16. You know he did...
  17. I get it brother, you stated the devil's advocate bit and all, I know you weren't trying to justify their misbehaviour. I'm just pointing out that if preventing panic buying/hoarding/etc is your actual goal, there's ways to do that without altering the price of the product. It's still available to anyone who needs it at the same price, but in a limited amount.
  18. Limit purchases to no more than X amount per person until the crisis is over.
  19. Those hard drives could use a bit of defragmenting it appears..... Anybody got a good disk recovery program?
  20. That's a great looking build! Post up some targets for cryin' out loud!
  21. I'm perfectly OK with what he thinks, and OK with him being wrong too, but anyone stumbling across this thread while trying to get their build working should understand the fallacies.
  22. Not what I said or implied, but a strawman is nothing new to me. The kind where most of the operation of the rifle becomes quite smooth by feel. That's not always the same number of rounds, it depends on the individual rifle. Like an engine for instance? Or maybe machine tools are a better example? That's not my logic at all, and I'll offer you $1000 cash to show me where I've ever said such. No. It would make sense that unlubricated metal-to-metal contact between metals of varying materials, strength, hardness, and surface finish would only be an invitation to the overall deterioration and inefficiency of contact surfaces, or galling. Lubrication serves to minimize the number of inefficient contact surfaces until interference surfaces wear into a state of even lubrication and surface contact. No. See above. That's terrific. It's also a sample size of one that's specific to your experience, so making generalizations about the platform in general on that basis seems ill-advised.
  23. Was the weapon you were carrying in the military a variant of the large AR platform, or the small AR platform? If you're basing your logic off the small AR platform, the large AR isn't the same animal. It's been well born out for most of the life of this forum that heavy lubrication is a key to getting this platform to run well initially. After the rifle has been broken in and the moving parts play more nicely, it's not quite as critical, but it's still important.
