I fully back you on the .30-06, it's a fantastic round and a very respectable distance cartridge as well. Wouldn't hesitate to field an '06 for distance for even a second.

You're absolutely right about this brother, you need new glass. Always a good investment. Tom has some great Nikon offerings that he needs to liquidate in order to upgrade. I recommended he literally liquidate them, but he wasn't on board with that. This is the perfect fix.

Bring those poor kids out to the Fall Shoot, we'll get them squared away on the long distance shooting. Then they can be overwatch for the wire while you engage anything that made it to the living room.

Oh this is some rich propaganda right here... I finally find a 1000 yard shooting venue roughly an hours travel from my house, and it suddenly becomes an attempt to get a leg up on my brethren. You're beginning to remind me of someone..... I won't say who, but I think you know. I shot a PRS match today just in case anyone missed Tom's billboards. Had a great time and likely will do it again. I cold-bored a groundhog silhouette at 808 yards with my MA-TEN and the Spotter/RO dang near crapped a brick. Granted, the remainder of the day sucked, but there were some good hits amongst all the suck.

Oh for cryin' out loud.... We need to renew your security clearance, you're leaking secrets....

No problem. Oh, and break it in literally dripping wet with lube in the internals. Large ARs have loads more surface contact area, and generally don't run when dry. Less lube will be needed as it wears in.

Test it first. If it doesn't do what it should, you know what immediate steps to take.
