  1. A while back I did some caliber consolidation, sold weapons and ammo of the lesser-needed varieties and kept mostly only what I consider to be in my primary weapons systems. I eliminated .40 S&W (ammo and four pistols), 7.62x39 (ammo and one rifle), 4.6x30 (ammo and one rifle), others that I can't even remember. But back to the original question, if the world went to smoldering shit and I would be doing one-day scouting trips, I would probably bring 5.7x28mm along - I'd have my PS90, Five-seveN, and shorty AR, and a bunch of rounds. But if I were busting out with a doubt as to whether I'd ever make it back to home, it would be my standards of 22lr, 9mm, 45ACP and 5.56.
  2. Being a raging 1911 fan, I'm jealous as F about that. :)
  3. Nice work Albroswift. I've got that same pistol, and it has considerable holster wear, yours looks way better. .
  4. Had to run through this once at our last house. Got home and the garage door was open, entry door unlocked. Told my wife to have her phone ready, grabbed my truck gun and cleared the house. Turns out I guess I must have just forgotten to close the garage door when we left.
  5. Welcome aboard! Spend some time reading posts, you're going to find a wealth of information here.
  6. I bought two kits, told my father-in-law we can build them together next trip up and he can keep his. Just need a couple of uppers now.
  7. Nice, thanks man. That's a good read.
  8. lol, never heard that one before
  9. I ended up getting this one, we'll see how it goes https://www.righttobear.com/TS-Lower-Build-Kit-Mission-First-Stock-p/ts-lbk-bmsmil.htm
  10. Thx edge and Rob. I haven't found just the right one yet. Luth-AR is out of stock
  11. Welcome! WTF is the mitten state?
  12. Lol. So I think I'll go milspec on one and do a nice accurate build on the other. I'll post with progress.
  13. Thoughts on CMMG parts? They also offer others. I'm leaning towards this shop since they're veteran owned.
  14. I'm kind of digging this kit, and the upper is already complete. Mostly mil-spec stuff, but it's easy, and I don't need these damnable AR's to distract me from my 1911's anyway. https://www.righttobear.com/Ghost-16-inch-5-56-Rifle-Build-Kit-Burnt-Bronze-p/gf16e14gfr556bb-kit.htm
  15. Nice, thanks Tom. Time to go shopping.
  16. I was doing some inventory and found a couple of stripped lowers in one of the safes, so I guess I'll do a couple of builds. Anyone have an all-in-one lower build kit they've used recently. It's been a minute since I've shopped for any AR parts at all.
  17. +1 -- when I was doing caliber consolidation I sold my XD-40, then re-bought the platform in the XD-9 and XDM-45 Never been a glock fan.
  18. Congratulations sir, nice long run. Tomorrow makes 24 for the wife and I.
  19. I moved it down to Club House
  20. I use one, but not that brand. Thanks for the heads up though. Did you mean to drop this in Bar & Grill?
  21. Basically it says any suppressor made in Texas using strictly materials sourced in Texas is not subject to the NFA limitations/registration. It has to be stamped "Made in Texas". Edit: After re-reading the text, it looks like all this does is allow state agencies to not have to enforce the federal laws. It seems it would still be in violation of federal law if you didn't register one. Hmm......
  22. House Bill 957 by Representative Tom Oliverson has been sent to the Governor for his signature. Sec. 2.052. NOT SUBJECT TO FEDERAL REGULATION. (a) A firearm suppressor that is manufactured in this state and remains in this state is not subject to federal law or federal regulation, including registration, under the authority of the United States Congress to regulate interstate commerce.
  23. Originally the County, 10 miles off the Canadian border. Lived 5 years in Old Town, then moved to Tejas. I'll be in Oxford/Poland in a couple of weeks for my niece's wedding. We also have a place on Schoodic Lake.
  24. Brian, from a fellow Maine-iac, welcome to the forum.
