  1. Hmmm, now that makes me think... What "special requests" do I put in my next order?
  2. I have the Battlecomp v1.5 (on a 14.5 middy) and the BABC (on a 17" .308).
  3. BAD, Inc. never ceases to amaze me... So impressive!
  4. I'd worry that your receiver top rail wouldn't match up to your handguard top rail... If you were so inclined to use one.
  5. As is required by man-law C:-)
  6. Cynikal, I have the same handguard (love it). Since I too did the "from the ground up" build, I just ordered the standard DPMS barrel nut directly from www.DPMSinc.com. It was only $19.95 (+s&h).
  7. I'm very upset with how nice this turned out... My wallet is aching. I'm thinking an 18" (or a 16" dissy?) may be in order in the near future. I want to see a stainless brake on the end! And it's time to upgrade that front sight post.
  8. There is also a "pistol" length for barrels under 10". Carbine is good for 10"-16" Mid is good for 14.5"-18" Rifle is good for 18"+ (.308 can use a 16" barrel w/ rifle length gas) There is also a barrel out there called a "Dissipator". I think Bushmaster originally made it. It has a carbine gasblock hole, as well as a rifle length faux-gasblock location. This is to have a low profile carbine gas system under the handguard. Then put an A2 front sight block at the rifle length position, so you can have your sights near the end of a 16" barrel. These barrels are rare, and usually handmade. I know someone here recently made one... Maybe he will step up and show off. I think BCM is playing with a lot of different length combo's (with a similar concept in mind) for various SBR's.
  9. Three .308 builds at the same time!?!?! :o You are going to fit in just fine here. <lmao> Welcome
  10. TM also sells finished lowers... They might have gone that route. Even so, I encourage everyone to build their own uppers. The satisfaction is paramount and in the end you will have EXACTLY what you want. Welcome to your new addiction.
  11. Come to think of it. I would probably not free float a 14.5" LW middy. I think an A2 fsb with a Magpul MOE would be just fine for me. Very light and efficient. Free floating is for getting that extra bit of accuracy out of your barrel. If I'm going with a 14.5" pencil barrel, I've obviously thrown out the idea of sub MOA. A mid length MOE handguard is light and can handle all the rails/accessories I could ever ask for. The FSB can be upgraded with KNS or Trijicon sights. A rear BUIS or even a fixed Troy/DD would suffice for irons. Slap on an EOTech and I'm done. <thumbsup>
  12. Sounds like you made up your mind. It's a fair deal and I think you'll be satisfied. Cut the 20" to a 16" and rock and roll. Lots of places do the work. I think a cut + rethreading is about $100-$175... Or see about trading someone?? Whatever you decide, just make sure you take pictures!
  13. RainierArms.com has a lightweight (.625) Daniel Defense (CHF) 14.5" mid length barrel for about $300. Not a bad deal for a good quality barrel.
  14. After assembling mine, I would probably go another route if I had it to do over again... looking back I would have liked to have gone with a 14.5" mid-length pencil barrel w/ .625 low profile gas block. I do fancy the Daniel Defense lightweight rails, but an Superior Weapons System rail would look nice too. I am also proud of my Apex CNC "Gator Grip" handguard... FF handguards are always a hard point for me to make a decision.
  15. I used to be a big fan of those CF handguards... Then one day I wasn't... After seeing blue109's rifle, I may be a fan again. You have Tacti-sexy written all over that rifle! Nice job. What gas system is under there? RRA Trigger?
  16. The age old dilemma of trading a sports car for a luxury vehicle. Trying to compare features is near impossible. I agree with others when they ask, "is a POF what you really want?" If so, I think your trade is fair. The ACR is nice, and the POF is considered one of the top. Make sure that POF has all the options you're looking for, or that those options will be available to you in the future.
  17. I'm with unforgiven, I use Norton as well. I used to use a program called NOD32, and it worked great. They got a little pricey though. There used to be a yearly event held by the security companies, where they competed against each other to show dominance in their field. When I used NOD32, they were that years winner. I have since become very lackadaisical in keeping up with that technology.
  18. I keep coming back to this. The work was really done well. It assume you sprayed the parts separately, and then reassembled them when they were dry? Can I ask how long it took? Forgive my ignorance, but what did you coat it with?
  19. That is the same thing Jense Precision told me when I ordered mine. I can't wait!
  20. I just dropped $200+ again, so hopefully she leaves you something under your pillow. I always make sure to link through 308ar.com before I buy.
  21. So, so, so many goodies... The Brownells fairy is coming!!!
  22. I would think a longer case could give more reloading options?? The second reason is more than enough in my book <thumbsup>
  23. Why not the .260 Rem? The stats are nearly the same... And the .260 seems a lot cheaper and easier to get... I understand the reason of choosing over the .308 Win, but what does the 6.5 Creedmoor offer over the .260 Remington? I'm truly asking for my own knowledge. I have ZERO experience with the 6.5, but I owned a Rem 700 in the .260 and I loved it.
  24. That looks phenominal!!! A few parts look shinier than others, but I assume that's the camera. Way to go on a job well done <thumbsup>
  25. They're called "SPORKS". When I first moved out on my own I used to stock up on them at whichever fastfood dive I passed on my way home from work. That there is the fine silverware of every new bachelor. I also found that if I ordered an XL pizza, I could finagle about a dozen paper plates. Throw in a Costco package of plastic 'red cups' and I'm set for good. Dishes were done every night. No messy kitchen.
