  1. Pictures man! We need pictures!!
  2. Welcome to our den of addicts and enablers. We'll help you feed your expensive new habit. While I hate to see anyone have to sell their guns, at least they were replaced with quality. I like the plan on your new build.
  3. DPMS makes a lightweight contour 16" barrel. I've heard that fluting a finished barrel is a big 'no-no'.
  4. It's already been done for you. The JP LMOS is a lightened BCG. It requires an adjustable gas block because it will cycle too hard. They're great for competition and paper killing. Only one problem... JP won't guarantee 100% reliability on them, so they wont be in any of my rifles.
  5. DPMS SASS barrel also has a special contour. You have to use special SASS gas blocks.
  6. You're kind of on the right track. Most stocks and pistol grips work. Triggers are also pretty universal. The PRS comes in two version 7.62 and 5.56, there's no modification necessary. Hand guards, barrel nuts are rifle specific. Also the bcg is type specific. Barrel devices differ from AR15's to large format AR's and caliber. What exactly are you looking for, maybe we can help???
  7. I'm too lazy to look up the thread. www.wmdguns.com
  8. Welcome to another NorCal guy! I recognize your dilemma. I am in a similar boat. I'd love to put on a NF 2.5-10x, but I see a Leupold 3-9x more likely in my price range.
  9. .338 Fed would be nice if you were planning big game at long range... If not, then stick to the .308. Way too expensive to change ammo for no good reason.
  10. Fulton Armory - stainless 18.5" rifle length barrels
  11. .338 Fed
  12. 98Z5V took the words out of my mouth. Mega for the win! I have to give honorable mention to SI Defense. May not be as "fancy" as the MA10, but still very nice and much lighter. I also really like the AXTS lowers, but they are way too pricey. As for front end barrel devices... Battlecomp BABC
  13. Yes
  14. Battlecomp or PWS are the most common universal front end choices. You really can't go wrong with either.
  15. All that rifle and you still have a mil spec trigger... BAD, Inc has deals on trigger + selector switch combo packages. Just my $0.02.
  16. The mono uppers are good looking but not quite my cup of tea. You might be surprised how much Dave Branson sells the mono uppers for on the Mega group buy. If you compare the cost of a high quality handguard and a upper, they are pretty close. I would stick to using a midweight 16" rifle length barrel, A low profile gas block and then a 12" or 15" VTAC handguard. Great for the range and the hunt.
  17. I recently went to one of those "other" sites looking for a review of a part... After clicking and scrolling through pages of B.S. and nonsense I didn't even care about the info anymore. In all honestly, when it comes to AR's, this is home for me now... I don't have the time, nor the energy, to devote to those "other" sites anymore. The friendships that are made on this page are pretty outstanding too. Edgecrusher flew from MA to AZ to shoot with 98Z5V... How many other forums can say that? I still frequent CalGuns.net from time to time, but just for the auctions. I think all my posts on that website say "I'll take it". 1911forum is still decent place for my other vice. If you think getting an AR is difficult in Cali... Try finding an off-list pistol for a decent price. PS. Still looking for a good price on a Kimber Pro TLE/RL Stainless
  18. Yes... but I hear there are .308 kits available out there too.
  19. I have to say that I have been impressed with Mossberg lately. My favorite bolt rifle is an old beat up Mossberg 308. It's killed just about everything that walks California (and a few other states). I see the purchase of a Mossberg Silver Reserve .410 O/U in my future.. I love quail! My only issue is their new AR-15. That is the ugliest damned grip I have ever seen!
  20. PM Sent Battle Arms Development Ambidextrous Safety Selector Also found here.
  21. Glad you could join us. I'd love to see pic's of the Enfield!
  22. Good to know! This was my first piston conversion. I took on this task without knowing much at all of the piston kits. I had wondered if there would be any wobble in there. Adams Arms actually advises, in the installation instructions, to remove the gas rings. I still have yet to shoot it.
  23. Call Remington! I'm very fond of the R25 barrel myself. I encourage you to at least try.
  24. I've wanted to see this combo for a while. I'll be keeping a close eye on your progress. I encourage the idea. <thumbsup> <thumbsup>
  25. I have an eclipse/BAE RBAV (similar to a CIRAS). Mostly VTAC and Tactical Tailor pouches. The armor gets hot and heavy. (sorry, it's an old pic) I've been knocking around the idea of a TAG vest recently. Either a "phalanx" model or a "gladiator". The phalanx is universal for mag pouches, but i like the gladiator design a bit more (for the AR15).
