I'm getting it, too. I was riding the motorcycle last week in a t-shirt, but that's not happening now. About a week from now it'll be back up, but's it's only a gradual temp climb to get there. Global Warming, huh? ;D

Well, it's further than I thought jusst for shooting. I did the drive from VA to Maine in August, and it seemed shorter. Might be worth it for a week of shooting, especially with the 600-yard range on Quantico. Looks like 7 hours (about 380 miles) from me to Hartford...
-
Matt, where are you located in NC? Same to you, Drew - I'm in Northern VA, so we're a few hours apart, but not that far, practically speaking. I'm working on more shooting areas here; I'll keep you updated. They're here, I just need to find them. Quantico is looking very promising, once I'm into the Rod & Gun Club there. My free range is only open between 1 Sep and 31 March, but it's very nice for a 100-yd range, and no-kidding completely free, run by the state.

Good luck, man! May you find great parts at cheap prices! :D

Haha! Hell yeah it is! ;D Ended up tackling the Honda Accord, too. 1991, old, but not tired yet. Had to replace both CV axle shafts and the speedo sensor. Just like the work on the Dodge, one side easy, one side a PITA - I had to cut one of the axle nuts off, after a 425ft/lb impact gun wouldn't take it off... >:( Speedo sensor was hard to find, but not too bad to replace.

I've now got most of a gun on the way - building up a 16" midlength gas AR-15 the the Little Woman's birthday next week (cutting it close!). Parts on hand already: Spike's stripped lower from Mega Machine, Magpul MOE grip and trigger guard, 7 x 30-rd windowed PMags. Troy TRX Extreme 13" rail, Surefire M951 weapon light, Knight's vertical pistol grip, and Aimpoint QRP mount. Already shipping, and due to me on the 13th: Aero Precision stripped upper, Magpul MOE stock and complete carbine stock hardware, Magpul front sight, Armalite 16" midlength barrel and midlength gas tube. Just ordered this morning: Timberwolf Tactical SS LPK, crush washer, YHM lo-pro gas block, forward assist assembly, ejection port door assembly, Gunfighter charging handle (large). Haven't received a shipping notice on this stuff yet, but it should ship today hopefully. The planned red dot for it is a Bushnell Trophy, and I couldn't find the right Magpul rear sight online at a decent price - I've got a local guy that I can pick that up from, so I'll get that purchased early next week. Her B-Day is the 17th, so I hope all the stuff gets here in time. It'll suck for me if it doesn't. All the Magpul stuff is Foliage. EDIT - Hmmm... Don't ya know. I wanted the BCM standard midlength barrel, but they sold out of the thing last month. I hit the email notification for stocking on that, and wasn't gonna hold my breath that it would be back in stock in time. I ordered the Armalite barrel yesterday as a suitable replacement, and I get the email from Bravo Company this morning that the barrel is back in stock today... >:(

I know it, man! I talked to him last night about some of the remaining parts - gonna be SWEEEEET!!! ;D
-
Damn, this is gonna be a good looking boomstick, brother. ;D

Yeah, you can order just the bolt carrier if you want to. You don't have to buy it with the bolt. You might have to call Fulton Armory directly and ask them about it, but they'll have it. I didn't see it listed on their parts page specifically, with the exception of the side cocking chrome bolt carrier. http://www.fulton-armory.com/

Welcome aboard, Matt! For teh gas block question/answer: Yes, AR-15 gas block will work (all the same stuff, really), but you just have to get the right sized diameter block to put on your barrel. Depends on what the barrel manufacturer sized the gas hole portion of the barrel at. The common sizes are 0.625", 0.750", and 0.936". Another that comes up once in awhile, but not common is 0.875".

This made me literally laugh out loud...

There was a thread on ARFCOM about this that I ended up in. It kinda turned into a pissing match of sorts. I'll dig up the details of the receiver heights from that and post them up - one dude on there literally knew everthing about it, much to his credit. Numbers, heights, everything. I'll grab the details.

For me, every single time the 4lb hammer comes out - there's some blood. :o Might be "just a pinch" here or there, but swinging that fat thing into another piece of solid metal almost ALWAYS yields a little blood. If "one whack was enough" I'd never have a problem, but it never is, man. Maybe I need a bigger hammer... ;D

I found some pics of the non-digital newer stuff, but not a full spread. More like a few uniform pics. I'll see if I can find them again and post them into here. EDIT - Scored this website in a search. Seems like the term to search on is "C2G": http://www.uniteddynamics.com/camo/c2g/index.html There are more than 15 others on that website, but they're all in the digitized format. I'll keep looking.

'98 Ram rollin' on a set of 35s. Poor thing has 175k miles on it, and the ball joints have never been replaced, well, before now. That always makes it worse. :-[ Victory was mine, though! Don't think I gave myself another hernia, but it sure wasn't fun anyway. The only real joy in this specific task is the use of a 4lb hammer to separate the steering knuckle from the axle housing. ;D Everything else about it just sucks. Fully disassembled, bad ball joints GONE: New ball joints: So, I drive the '91 Honda Accord this morning, and find out that both front halfshafts are bad, after the boy just took it on a trip from VA to Tennessee to Ohio and back. Sweet... I'll be back at it this afternoon :o
-
Haha! Well, one of the things I was doing was fighting 12-year old ball joints on a Dodge truck. That's never fun... :o I'm still here, man. :D

ACU and Marine MARPAT? What colors specifically are you looking for?
-
HAHA! No way, man! ;D I found the main site in a Google search, as DNP (him, mainly) and I were looking into building up some .308s and breaking the "AR-15 norm." As soon as I noticed the forum, I started lurking here, whilst I was frantically ordering parts.
-
Sizes on these bad boys run true? Do they run small, or large, by size? I'm a 10.5 Regular-footed guy, but in some shoes/boots it ends up being 11. I'll grab some of these once I hear back, man. ;D
-
Nope, but I wish I did - I'm stripping it and crimping it individually. Got it ran into the house, into the splitters, and have 3 rooms done. The biggest PITA part of it was getting it into the house and split right. I'm damn glad that part is done. I hope to be finished with the rest of it tomorrow. Hoping big. :-\
-
I'm running cable into another 7 rooms in the house... ::)

That's the one that Magpul sells directly, to go with their PRS. It's the one I've got on my internal wishlist.
-
From stuff like that ^^^ with DPMS, from several different forum accounts of the long waits, that's the reason I went Fulton on the BCG and barrel. They had the sale in Feb, I ordered on a Friday night, and had the stuff on the following Tuesday. All things considered, I'm damn glad I went that route, too. That barrel shoots! ;D
-
Haha! Excellent, man, excellent. ;D PP, that PRS stock is sweet, isn't it? I wanted to put one on my 308 initially, but had a spare A2 around that I vowed to try first. So far, I'm liking the A2, so now I'm undecided about getting one for it. I've wanted a monopod for the 20" with PRS for awhile now, but other "gun priorities" keep getting in the way. Now, it's a complete 16" midlength 5.56 build that I just started. One day, one day...
