DON'T LOOK AT ME!!! That's BEAUTIFUL, Doc!!! I didn't know anyone got my smartass comment on video, so I wasn't gonna say anything. NOW, however... I'm saying it... I rocked the secret-surprise from @sketch - his .50 that I was sworn not to tell anyone about. I hit that mile in the 2nd shot with it. As it turns out, I hit that mile with my Win Mag on the 2nd shot, as well. I think I shot two guns this weekend, at the mile, and nailed that little fukker on the 2nd shot... I'm just sayin'... @JBMatt... That's the next best thing to a cold-bore...

Smartass... It never misses a tick... just runs.

Pilots amaze me. That was one cool writeup of what he went through - thanks, brother for finding that one.
-
^^^ YES! SUCCESS! It was so badass watching him turn a lump - into a weapon.

I guess they're actually spelled "Spiedies" - just looked them up! https://foodandmeal.com/sandwichs/how-to-cook-spiedies

Speedies! Those things ROCK, with the marinated chicken. I fire up the grill everytime, and she gets after it and cooks up a batch. Ditto - he's an incredible person, and he'll be out there for every single shoot from now on, if his schedule permits. We already worked that out. He'll have at least one meal per trip, maybe more. Details on that will follow.

Herters is the weakest .223 Rem ammo I've ever tried in my life. It sucked so bad that I gave the remaining boxes away. I just needed it for 55gr range ammo, and it wouldn't do that.

I'm glad that this trip worked, and the timing couldn't have been better. You had multiple trips inside a big one - well done, Rene.

Since you helped me with my .308 I don't trust any barrels!

You know it! That 16" with a 13.25" gas tube is identical dwell time to an 18" barrel with a 15.25" gas tube - that's an 18" with rifle gas. Works great on the Mk 12 rifles, with a 0.095" gas port and 0.750" journal. It'll work great with that 0.092" port on yours. Start with a buffer weight that's H2, and it'll be real nice. Try the H3 buffer if you want - I'll bet it cycles fine, and it would be one soft shooter... -

Sounds good to me. Run it and see what happens - I bet you don't have to change anything with that config. -
You have to stay to the end, next time, brother. After we packed out on Sunday, we hit Casa De Pain, unloaded everything, cleaned ourselves up, and went out to a place called Raceway. We came back to the house, and it kept going. At some point, it was too much for Eric, and he had to lay down - on the floor, with his head on the rung of a bar chair. I have no idea in the world how this was remotely comfortable, but it worked for him. Roman couldn't help it, and just HAD to fuq with him...

Yep, that thing is a goner. NASTY!

So, Rex had a tripod for glass. Or camera, or binos, or whatever Rex needed. Sometime in the dark, Rex's bipod was stepped on, and a leg was broken. This is Rex's tripod now: So, the un-named person that stepped on Rex's tripod, in the dark, comes up to Rex and explains it to him... "I was walking back there, in the dark, and I didn't see your tripod, and I accidentally stepped on it. I'm going to buy you a new one, I just need to know where you got it..." Rex says no - no problem. Don't worry, I was getting a new one anyway... Un-named person says, "Nope, I'm getting you a new one. It was my fault. I was in the drunk..."

Exactly! When I met Larry, I looked up at him - WAY up - and said, "You're alot smaller than I heard..." I broke free, and hauled azz!!!

I will tell you this for a fact - you CAN 100% run all Armalite AR-10 guts inside DPMS-based receivers. I have a 13.5" Armalite competition barrel, gas tube, the AR-10 BCG, AR-10 Carbine recoil system, running inside Aero M5 receivers. That thing runs like a Swiss watch.
-
18" midlength gas and a 0.750" journal needs 0.085" for a gas port. 12" or 12.5" carbine gas and a 0.750" journal needs 0.070" for a gas port. Two (2) criteria there on those numbers: 1) we're talking about something chambered for .308 Winchester. 2) we're talking about a proper recoil system, with a buffer weight of 5.4oz (or very close), matched to the appropriate recoil spring. If it meets that criteria, the numbers I gave you for port diameters will work like a champ. You stated the caliber and recoil systems, so that's not so much directed at you - that's for some dumbass in the future that's running a .243 or 7mm-08, quotes those numbers, then says his shiit doesn't work right, and we're wrong... Welcome aboard!

Do you have different settings on the adj gas block for steel, then brass? Or leave the gas block the same?
-
Welcome! Fun weekend, and thanks for making it out there, especially on such short notice. Stick around, contribute if you want, join in when you can. I'll call the next time we get out there locally, hopefully you can make it.

Admission to make... I'll be honest, I've talked to Rene on the phone for years now. Many. He's posted a couple pics of himself, only once in awhile, during the house remodel and all. Well, in my feeble mind, seeing a full pic of him - I imagined him as something like 5'8" or 5'9"... This fukkin dude is HUGE!!! I don't know what kinda 6-footer he is, but he's 6-something, and it's not the lower end, barely 6. That was the funniest part of the weekend for me, right there. He's damn near Larry-sized... @392heminut

YOU ASSWHOLE!!!

This is KIM, Magwa... You are amazing.. Great chats, and laughs. I can't wait to learn some of your trades.. You are more than welcome to come share some fire water with Tom and I anytime.. Im looking forward to some sweat Teepee. Peace pipe to you brother!!

^^^ Greatly acknowledged, and great appreciated, my friend. Anytime you feel like getting away - just somewhere, anywhere... This Casa down here is always open to you, for any amount of time you want, whenever you want. Duration unlimited. You are welcome here anytime. If it's not during a shoot - we'll invent a shoot just for your visit. We've pulled that off before. And, another quote from you, one that will live with me daily, as I deal with shiitheads as a routine part of life... "Sometimes you just gotta CUT A MOTHERFUCKER..."

As stated earlier, all of the Knights Armament Company (KAC) is 100% Armalite AR-10A patterned- means it takes P-Mags. It makes sense, because Eugene Stoner was brought on at KAC to design everything for them. So, that's the whole SR-25 line, and the M-110 rifles.
-
In the beginning of Live Free Armory, they made straight Armalite pattern uppers and lowers, including the thread pitch for the barrel nut. At some point, the Armalite design stayed, but the thread pitch went to DPMS pattern. Eventually, everything went DPMS pattern, including the shape of the lowers/uppers. I have one of the sets that have the Armalite cuts on the receivers, with DPMS barrel nut pitch. Top quality, all the way.
