  1. ^^^ That's the way to do it.
  2. Anyone under 21 buying a long gun is automatically delayed 10 days. Anyone under 21 already can't buy a handgun, but that long gun change is a big one. CCW information now goes in beside Driver's License Info (shiit for dealers to do, not you the buyer). Lots more questions that would out you as a straw buyer (or a way to entrap you if you are a straw buyer). Fukkers shouldn't be straw-buying anyway...
  3. You'd be looking for something lie this, probably. It's from a custom bolt-action gun builder. I don't know of anything like this available for a gas gun. I shot one of these last October, and it is impressive. Home-fabrication is gonna be key, for something on a gas gun. Rip up that Intro Section. I'm super curious about that Doctor and Medical Scientist part.
  4. Get more into the Doctor, Medical Scientist, Former Marine Infantry Officer in an Intro Post, and tell us about some shared info about yourself a little bit. Share some history, for some shared thoughts and info. Here's the Intro Section: https://forum.308ar.com/forum/22-introductions/
  5. This clown in this vid is only there to try to showcase his shooting skills. Nothing more. He doesn't know the difference between "overgassed" or "under-recoiled" and that was his opening statement in his vid. No clue. Don't take .308AR-building advice from this kid, none of it. No comprehension on why the recoil system and the gas system need to be balanced, to properly RUN the gun. AR15s are cookie-cutters... Slap together just about anything you want, and it'll probably work - unless you drastically fuk something up in the build. He can SHOOT a gun, but doesn't know what it takes to make a gun RUN forever... Thus endeth my sermon...
  6. I don't think Aero is watching us. It would benefit them, in the long run. This guys vid is only gonna hurt Aero.
  7. He had malfunctions with the gun. He went through a pretty exhaustive test with the gun, for round count. Only. Round count only. He never once listed any specs for the gun - as far as functionality goes. No barrel length, no gas system length, no gas block journal size, no gas port size. That covers the gas system info that's necessary. No internal depth on the carbine extension, no buffer length, no buffer weight, no recoil spring relaxed length, wire diameter, or coil count. That covers the recoil system. None of those details, at all. Just shot it for 5k rounds, had malfunctions. Didn't try to determine the reason for those malfunctions. Aero tried to fire back and be polite - this guy must be YouTube-Important, for that to happen. They fire back and stick their foot straight in their mouth literally TELLING people to install the A5 recoil system - that WILL NOT WORK on a .308AR. I don't even know what to think right now, other than Aero needs help. They need to fix - FIX - their carbine recoil system, for good, forever, and be done with the bullshiit.
  8. Okay, Aero needs to get with it. They have the pinned comment right under this video, on YouTube. They offer reasons for this and that, but one comment stands out FIRST, as a GLARING PROBLEM... "2. If you are shooting an AR10/M5 rifle suppressed, we highly recommend taking that type of use into account when building and selecting components. There are a couple different components that can and do help lower carrier velocity in the case of suppressed use. What this exact formula is will vary depending on use-case, but generally a rifle or A5 buffer system can greatly help on these large frame rifles. Adjustable gas blocks are another great solution if your use-case permits." You CANNOT RUN the VLTOR A5 Buffer System on a .308AR. YOU CANNOT. That A5 buffer is 4.000" long. You will short-stroke your gun every single round, because the carrier needs to travel another 3/4" just to function properly... Wow... Aero needs work on their carbine recoil system, and their understanding on how important the recoil system is in the function of the rifle...
  9. Carbine recoil system. If it's a full-on Aero gun, that means the receiver extension that shipped with it is 7.100" internal depth (too deep), the buffer is 2.500" long and weighs 3.8oz, and the spring is unknown. In the opening, he stated "it's still WAY overgassed..."... No, it's not overgassed at all - it's under-recoiled. Change the recoil system to something that's really made (and appropriate) for a .308AR, and then shoot that damn thing 5,000 rounds...
  10. I love seeing this. Proves that Aero M5 receivers pin to DPMS LR-308 receivers. I've stated that for years here, because I have both, and know they pin together and work together, but people have called that into question in the past. Now, like then, I just tell them to suck it... Great pic, man.
  11. That's a DPMS LR-308 upper receiver - just the receiver. 100% positive on that. It's extruded and machined, and there isn't any other one like it, with those lines. The rest of the parts - no way to tell on the barrel, unless you can find marks/stamps in it, same with the rail. You can measure the tang on the back of it and easily determine if it's high profile or low profile.
  12. Jim, there's no defined standard for the amount of clearance between BCG and lower. That looks good, though. Keep in mind, under recoil, the bumper on the end of that buffer will compress... Looks like you have enough clearance to not worry about it. The math on 2 Quarters is correct, as well as the internal depth that you gave us.
  13. Nice!
  14. I have two of these, and they're pretty damn nice. I'll buy more, over time, and still like them - and not look at SureFires and Streamlights again. OLights like these blow those two companies away. You won't regret it, and if you think it sucks - I'll buy it off you for what you had to spend on it, plus shipping.
  15. Looks like you quotes someone, but you didn't say anything. If you're highlighting the original post (looks like it) - then my original answer still stands ADCO Firearms can shorten the barrel, and increase the gas port diameter, for it to function with a shorter barrel. RRA barrel extensions are different. DPMS-basr LR-308 barrel extensions aren't identical to Armalite AR-10 barrels extensions, either, but those two are closer than the differences in the LAR-8 extension. Only option is to get the barrel cut down. I don't know ANY aftermarket barrel makers that are tailored to the RRA profile. Doesn't mean they don't exist - I've just never seen them in all these years.
  16. It didn't do any good the first time, 1994 until it sunsetted on '04. FBI reports on gun crimes proved, through the years, that it had zero impact on gun crimes, gun murders, gun convictions during crimes, etc. The info is out there.
  17. There should never be an advertised extension for .308ARs at 8.000". That's not even a right number. If it's 2A, and that's what they're making, and advertising, then they need to find a new vendor, and new supplier for that part. If they're making it themselves, they need to re-look their numbers, because they are OFF. Don't give aftermarket parts vendors a break, if their parts are wrong. Call them out, hope they see it, and fix it. I'll call themon it every single time. Send the right parts, that work, or stop sending your parts out, and we have to come up with a remedy in the future - here. Which we do often. Very often. 2A - if your dimensions are screwed - and fix them, if you're making them. If you're subletting them - fix your sublet vendor. 2A has been very reputable, but if they keep up extensions like this, they're gonna fall into the "shiit-vendor" parts category. Feel free to PM me here, 2A. I'll respond, and give accurate information to you on how to make this part correctly. There is no excuse.
  18. 7 3/4" is too much, and the max you can run is 7 5/8" internal depth, without problems. So, you have a 7 3/4" extension. Stay with me here. 7 3/4" = 7.750". 7 5/8" = 7.625". That means your extension is not correct, but milled another 0.125" too deep. A quarter is 0.069" thick. You need to drop TWO (2) quarters down your extension, THEN put your spring in there and buffer. That's the best solution for your receiver extension, instead of buying one that's machined correctly. What brand of receiver extension is this, or where did you get it? Everyone needs to know to stay away, so it's pertinent details here.
  19. 3" then. poop. .17HMR is the ticket, then.
  20. OTIS BONE tool cleans the inside of the carrier very well - no better than that CAT tool. The CAT too just does more. If you just want to clean the inside of the carrier, both work well. Cleaning the inside of the carrier really, honestly, isn't that important, for the function of the gun, over any kind of cyclic term, though. It's a "cleaning last resort" to do, as a last-ditch effort, if your gun is fucking up, and you have no idea why. So, since everything is fukked, the gun doesn't work, and I can't think of anything else to do - let's clean the inside of the carrier and see if THAT works... That's how important it is. When was the last time you removed the cylinder heads off your car engine, and cleaned the valve seats, valve faces, and combustion chambers? Got all the carbon deposits out of there? Or worried about the carbon buildup on the tops of your pistons? (You know, when you had those heads off, anyway, to clean them...) Yeah, never. I can co into my thoughts on this in depth, but I'm just sayin' now - it's not that important for the cycle of the gun.
  21. Anyone in LE knows the gloves. I hope they were wearing "protective gloves" when they took that fucker down. "Protective gloves" protect your hands, when you're in a serious situation. I hope that all those LEOs were smart, wore their appropriate gloves, and didn't suffer permanent hand injuries over this POS. Longterm health really matters. Hands matter, with the shiitbags that have to be encountered. This might seem like a joking post, but I'm being serious. I hope all the LEOs are good, and I hope they put the knuckles to this fucker. I know Rob has about 17 sets of these fuckers here...
  22. This POS threw a molotov cocktail at police. It didn't work out in his favor. This is what I'd expect some POS to look like, after such an action. I hope he's looking ALL FUKKED UP because they beat the piss out of him... Here's the story... https://www.foxnews.com/us/california-man-accused-throwing-molotov-cocktail-police?dicbo=v2-ca5921b4f7f8e088a0674c78b2a5b792
  23. The first tool I found for M4s - all AR15 variants - that was badass was the CAT M4 Tool. After that, I picked up the OTIS BONE tool for a 5.56, then the one for the .308s. It's a great tool, and works superbly. However, the CAT m4 tool kicks WAY MORE ASS on the small-frame guns, than that OTIS does. Neither are bad - but it's the level of work that you want to put in. The CAT just does more than the OTIS BONE does. Well, CAT makes a 762 tool... https://catoutdoors.com/product/cat-762-tool/
  24. I've been after you AL, about your profession, and what you claim, before, right here in the COVID thread. All "the journals" and their "studies." You posted alot, early on. Many of the things you posted early on have now been debunked, as pure bullshiit. You clung to those "studies" and "journals" though, back then. Don't hang yourself from this branch, right now. It's not worth it.
