I'd wreck that. No doubt, wouldn't think twice. I'd make me a Hero in a few seconds on that little fucker, right there. Like looking at a hot hairdresser... You quickly decide... "That's worth the risk..."

Nobody is immune, brother. It's happened before. And Newb's have stepped up in the past. I'm just sayin'... What better way to break one of them in, right? Research... I think the only time a Newb was backed up was on the 6 ARC stuff, when @DayWalker opened his mouth. I felt bad, and had already been looking at one hard, just DAYS after it was introduced - so I stepped in and saved his ass from the fire on that one. Mine shoots - I STILL don't think his is built yet...

Damn good loookin' gun, man - well done.

How much of a gap between upper and lower is TOO much?

How much of a gap between upper and lower is TOO much?

Nah, man - this is the thread. Just post the whole build here, the thread is already running. Here's my opinion on the upper and lower fitment, and "slop" in the receiver fitment... Lot's of people freak out about this, but hear me out... It doesn't matter. The only way it's gonna affect accuracy, is if the upper is actually flopping back and forth, left and right, in the lower. Once you slam a magazine in there, and rounds are pushing up on the bottom of that bolt carrier - even "sloppy receiver fitment" doesn't move. It can't. But it drives people crazy, thinking that they're losing accuracy, from those "sloppy fitment" receivers. It's rubbish. The accuracy of your gun is the barrel quality, the fitment of the barrel to the upper, the fact that the BCG headspaces, and it locks up tight (and isn't falling all over the place inside the upper receiver - hotdog down the hallway-thing)... and the ammo that you're shooting. That's it for upper parts, for accuracy. The only part in the lower that can affect accuracy is the trigger. Example - you WILL get better accuracy, in the exact same gun, with a Geissele Hi-Speed National Match trigger, than you will with some gritty, run of the mill mass produced mil-spec trigger with an 8lb pull weight. That's a given. It doesn't matter if the receiver fitment sucks, and you can wiggle it at home, in the living room, without a loaded mag locked in place. That doesn't matter. The upper parts, and their fitment matter, and that good trigger hitting that firing pin in the upper (in the BCG) matters. If you have to change receivers because the accuracy sucks, and those receivers had a little play in them - unloaded - then you've reached a great point in life. You have outshot your equipment, and need to upgrade your equipment in order to shoot better. In reality, no matter what you build, that doesn't happen often. With receiver play being the issue - I've never seen anyone improve their shooting, with measurable results, by changing everything over to "tighter receivers..." My $0.02... -
I don't recall anyone here reviewing one. This might end up being The Rule...

What do you have on order or in the mail? Part 2

That's a damn great Grendel powder, right there, brother. It's been working for my Grendel loads, and it's all I've tried so far in 6 ARC. I'm taking the CCI 41 primers out of my ARC loads, and just using the CCI 400s. Those things are moving pretty damn fast, and moving to the 400s will slow them down a little. Which is what they need. Sounds crazy, I know, but they don't need to be hauling the amount of ass that they are right now. That Grendel, though - ain't changing that load ONE BIT!... -
OD is the same on all of them. I have a pile of the VG6 stuff - it just works. Every single 2-port Gamma that I have has a CAGE on it. Some are 5.56 Gammas (for the 5.8x24 threading). The CAGE fits every brake that they make.

That's what those Banshees are - hate to say it ( @Robocop1051 will disown me...)... CMMG nailed that shiit on that Banshee line. They really did. If I had to channel myself through Rob, I'd say it's the only thing they've ever done right. And they crushed it.
-
That the Banshee line? Those things do run - they got that right.

There wasn't a right time to be over there. The whole thing just sucked... -
Toss the VG6 CAGE Device on that brake. It really, really does work.
-
Your LEO service us greatly appreciated. Thank you for that. Too many shiitheads these days have NO respect for authority, law, and everything else. Parents need to fuk kids up when they misbehave, but it just doesn't happen anymore. THAT is the first step, and it's ignored in today's touchy-feely-happy-world.

What I learned as a noob about building a "Frankenstein" LR-308
98Z5V replied to Homebuilt's topic in Building a .308AR
You'll need a 7.000" internal depth carbine receiver extension to run a 2.500" buffer in a .308AR platform (not counting RRA). Again, there is no 7.250" internal depth carbine receiver extension - if you have one, it's out of spec, and it'll tear up the ears on your lower receiver, when the BCG smashes into it, because it's too long, internally... -
AP knocked that pattern out of the park. This is gonna be a nice looking gun when you get done.
-
True, there. Mine is a Bushnell, and has 3 different settings. Brush (ignores close stuff), target (pinpoint accuracy), and terrain (whatever is sees out there at max distance). I'm glad it has that, because I use all 3 regularly.
-
Welcome aboard, man - we need more LEOs here, always. The ones we have are busy as fuk trying to keep us in line...

My main cat is a small Bengal cat = hates dogs = ate 2 Boston Terriers, and lost a toe fighting the Black Lab that followed. Didn't slow him down, and he routinely beat the piss out of the ex-wife's 2 dogs (Terrier mix and Australian Shep), and he further attacked a dog that just walked up to the front door. I'm fucked, and own a cat that's Dog-Psycho. He ain't big, he ain't small - just furious, about dogs. IF I EVER... put somthing up on a computer screen that was "dog-anything" - I'm buying a new computer. He hates dogs THAT much... He'd EAT the fucking thing. No doubts. Ask @MikedaddyH about trying to sneak his little dog into the house last year... TactiCat put their asses BACK OUTTA the house...
-
Fuk that - you crushed it!
-
^^^ THAT is the fucking TRUTH!
-
I can't do this. I can't afford the computer monitors. TactiCat is a SAVAGE. If there was a Dog video, he'd fucking MAUL my whole computer setup. The two Blackass Tiger Cats are WORSE. Twin-Fucking-Nightmares. No way, can I do this... I'm just sayin'... I'm out.

OP, read this. This is a decade of experimentation that came to writing this, in the first place. That goes back to 2010 - before shiit got crazy with the Large Frame ARs. The craziness that developed, about the 2010 timeframe, is why this board was even developed in the first place - too much bad information out there, and nothing making any sense. This is a decade of research, and gun builds, to both prove points, and prove other points WRONG... It stands on it's own, and can't be refuted. In my own life, and own world, I'm still waiting for someone to counter this information, and prove any of it wrong. It's been a long process, and no takers on that. -
Rehab is only there in the first place... Because of quitters... I'm just sayin',,,
-
Eh, whatever. We could have solved the issue, with a little information. Instead of providing information, the OP's decision was "I'll just be all butthurt instead." Then he states that he quit. That's alright, though - because nobody like a quitter. Good riddance.
