Pistol Brace Update, from 7 Jun 21
98Z5V replied to 98Z5V's topic in Firearm Industry News and Gossip
Pistol Brace Shenanigans are coming to a close, legally, one way or another. Here's the latest... -
Got an email from KAK Industries today - they launched their 22 ARC barrel lineup. There are 3 of them, but this is the one that interests me most - the 18" rifle gas barrel... https://kakindustry.com/22-arc-ar15-barrel-18-hbar-fluted-416r-stainless/ Everything about it looks perfect, for what I want in that barrel, and the price is OUTSTANDING! However, sometime in the next 2 weeks, BA will announce their 22 ARC lineup, and I'm sure their 18" SPR barrel will be one of them. I'm hanging on, and will wait for that one, because I have indepth experience on how well the BA SPR barrels perform.

I would find a Justice Brothers distributor near you, and get some Fuel System Cleaner to run through it, first. I've "cleaned carbs" with it before, where the pilot jet was starting to clog up. It works. Probably the only thing wrong with your rig is a clogged jet. Easy to get to, easy to remove, and easy to clean, brother.

I'm gonna get my hands on a Barret MRAD in .338 LM, and it'll be sometime before 2025 starts the new year. So, now you'll have a gun to shoot. How much further does this "sponsorship" that you speak of need to go?...

It won't matter. Not for this. Not anymore. We're WAY past the "Go Big Or Go Home" comments from haters, just from pulling this one off. They can all eat a dick, or they can put up and we'll then shut up. I don't suspect that will happen anytime soon, so this is for them, right here... Next up, is finding longer range, and we're already working in it. With the amount of people that hit 1760 yards at Fall Shoot, we had so do something. 2k was the answer, and that's different, but not unobtainable - we did it on the first try, where we tried it. Something big is coming. Something Looooong. 2.3k, 2.5k, something else is coming. We just need to figure it out down here. I'm down for 2 miles. 3520 yards. Now, there's a gun right from the factory that will do that? I'm in. I already have the distance to set all this up. I think me and @JBMatt are about to get into alot more shiit than we've been into before. https://precisionrifleblog.com/2018/07/05/what-the-pros-use-king-2-miles-edition/ We'll find more out here, but it's something that you guys even haven't done yet, but will - you'll get your shot at 2k yards. We're already looking past that, now. More distance. We'll need more gun. We're pushing the .300 Win Mag about as far as it can go, already, but we'll stretch it a little more. Everything we can within it's limits, and a little beyond. More gun. Need more gun. My Win Mag handload is supersonic to 1825 yards, and 1035fps at 2000 yards. What we shot from Matt's gun was 900fps at 2000 yards. My load will do better, and go further. If I can run my load to 900fps at target, that will be beyond 2500 yards. There's that much of a difference. I need him to stop pussyfooting around with his Win Mag handloads, so we can get some real work done... I already have two hills mapped out, one valley west of us. They are just south of the Dillon Range, but in the same valley. Those two hills are 3500 yards apart. Shoot hill-to-hill, and we'll get some 2-miles out of it, just on target placement. We just need more gun. That physical recon of the 2-mile area was done more than 2 years ago...

Take one for the team...

I'm completely convinced that this is already sewn up, and done. Here's the article, 5 Jan this year, that SOF is looking for a new sniper rifle. Checkat' it: https://www.military.com/daily-news/2024/01/05/us-military-searching-new-long-range-sniper-rifle-bid-keep-edge-over-russia-and-china.html What happens 2 weeks later, right before SHOT Show... Athlon Outdoors sneaks out that Barrett is making a new MRAD. The MRADELR, in .416 Barrett. https://www.athlonoutdoors.com/article/barrett-mradelr/?vgo_ee=dLRSyC3qmFjCAK99wmrsU810JxYzQYPkfxvwWEo%2FVnio623zpkI%3D%3AySom3EdeRRiFREuFQIJm2ghZsEEHXoQ7 There's no solicitation on this contract - it's already done. There might be a trial period, some time for other companies to come up with something - but they're not coming up with something that's gonna beat this. This is clear, once you watch the vids embedded in the article I linked. I'm glad for Barrett, and it's something that needed to be done. That's the only gun that will ever meet that contract, no matterhow it's written, and it's one of the very best cartridges to chamber such a beast in, for what is intended. That's a badass check-mate to military contracting, right there. Develop the gun, shoot the King Of Two Miles for 2 years, with a factory gun, NOT custom - and wait for the requirement that drops from DOD... Check. Mate...

I expected nothing less from you, Doc.

DAMN!!! What a great season!!! When does 3 start...

I've stated that a Barrett MRAD is in my future. I just didn't state which MRAD... The Barrett MRADELR gets announced at SHOT Show on Tuesday. Details here: https://www.athlonoutdoors.com/article/barrett-mradelr/?vgo_ee=dLRSyC3qmFjCAK99wmrsU810JxYzQYPkfxvwWEo%2FVnio623zpkI%3D%3AySom3EdeRRiFREuFQIJm2ghZsEEHXoQ7

Those are both dropping down through the transonic barrier, speed of sound is 1134 fps. They're gonna shake a little when they cross that threshold. The actual speed of sound is a flexible number based on atmospherics, and it can change slightly, but it doesn't change radically. It'll always be near that number somewhere. Try to find out what distance they are at when they are 1134 fps - that'll give you an idea of how much of a fight it's gonna be to hit 2k. Matt's 220 ELD-Xs were flying 900 fps at 2k. Hit okay on Saturday, came in sideways on Sunday.

I should've known it was a trap...

Bunch of companies making risers again, brother. All I did was search on "scope mount 2.26" height" and all this came up. https://duckduckgo.com/?q=scope+mount+2.26"+height&t=newext&atb=v377-1&ia=web

Sneaky Bastard!

I love me some Jason Everman. Just like I love me some Pat Tillman. There's just something about someone that could be SO famous, and just gives it all up to serve this country. Jason Everman was a guitarist in Nirvana and Soundgarden. Then, he decided he was gonna be a 2d RGR Bn crusher and then a Special Forces member. Fuckin' BADASS. Guitarist Jason... SF Jason...

Backpack Size Starlink Mini Coming This Year, Says Elon Musk
98Z5V replied to Turd Furgeson's topic in Outdoor Activities
THAT is a badass piece of technology! ***coming from a guy that was running backpack SATCOM since 1995, militarily...*** For civilian use, this really is revolutionary. I'm not kidding. -
You have 48 hours, Mike... I'll wait...
-
Why the fuk are we gonna do that?!!? I can't believe you don't have it already, and are reviewing it. I'm invoking The Rule on this one. Done. Let us know how it shoots, brother. You walked yourself right into this one, head-on. I'll post it again, just so everyone knows about it, recently... Here is THE RULE: "If you post, inquiring about a product, be it new or old, and no one responds with a review within 48 hours, you are hereby required to buy said product, and review that product, so that this rule doesn't apply to the next person with the same inquiry. "The Rule" shall not apply to the announcement of new or upcoming products, unless there is some context inquiring as to who will be the first to assume ownership of said product. At that point "The Rule" will once again apply to the poster, who will be obligated to be the first in the stated question. While this shouldn't need to be stated, pictures are required, or that s*** didn't happen." That's a hard and steadfast legality here on the board - but it gets interpreted and applied at will. But, it is The Rule.

I can unfuk that black slide on there, and FDE it for ya. I'm just sayin'...

It's got a big grip and great palmswell on it - which would be necessary for the paws that you have...

That's why we REALLY need to put the pressure on him. Hard. He already fucked up with his .300 Win Mag, and was the only one that shot that day that didn't hit 2k. He obviously needs more hardware to do this... There's a Barrett MRAD in .338 LM on my horizon. This is getting serious now...
-
This is funny, because Matt and I know where there is a fully built .375 CheyTac with glass, 70 MOA built into the base, and 100 rounds of ammo... Right now... ...just sitting in Gun Pusher John's gunsafe at home...
-
I remember telling you about the 225 ELD-Ms when I started this .300 Win Mag journey. I remember it specifically. You went with the 220 ELD-Xs, and said that the jump in BC to the 225s wouldn't matter that much. The difference between the two is 'UGE (Donald Trump term). You remember that conversation, right? Asking for a friend...

I'm sticking to my story as 100% accurate, and then some... I really liked your writeup, by far. Your ability to be Loquacious is amazing, and I commend you for that skill, brother. When I give a class on something, always militarily, I find out in the class AAR's that I'm more like Clint Smith, and that might not go well with all audiences. For the record, I want to hire you to be my Official Translator, in order to offend less people in the long run, in larger audiences... For real here... What you said was on point. I could never EVER imagined getting two new Long Distance people, Karen and Jen, on target at 2,000 yards, with the very few trigger-pulls that they did it in. Never would have imagined it possible. Ever. But, they did it. That comes from the gun, mainly, because it seriously needs to be set up to do that, the ammo, another mainly, because we saw some factory ammo that couldn't connect (Gun Pusher John's 200gr match ammo), and it comes from the background of what we've already shown those two. Jen has been shooting the Accurized AR Match for a couple years, and been shooting with us in the desert for more years than that. She's eager to learn, and soaks it up like a sponge. Karen, on the other hand, hasn't been shooting rifle that long, and she's The Shocker in this one. She picks up shiit SO FAST it's not even funny. She watches, listens, applies, and executes... what you state. And she crushes it. Due, directly to that. She takes instruction well, applies it, and performs it. When it doesn't work exactly as planned, she asks what happened, and she receives the critique professionally, makes changes, re-applies, and smashes it after that. She's a different animal, brother. She's a fuckin' Sniper-In-Training, right there. So, on that note, I want you to stop giving her guidance. If you continue to give her guidance, training, and help - she's gonna SMOKE BOTH OUR ASSES in just a few matches from now... I'm just sayin'...
