Yet Another Build Thread - My First Large Frame AR
98Z5V replied to supertux1's topic in Member Builds
You certainly didn't piss around with the trigger, stock or the charging handle - excellent parts. Have you set the trigger up yet? -
His laugh scares me a little... He reminds me of the German slingshot guy, that was doing all the crazy slingshot shiit...

THAT SUCKS!!! I cannot stand thieves. -
^^^ That's a great find! Accurate, too, mostly!!!

Nope. Doesn't exist, as far as I know. There are alot of companies that just "finished" raw uppers and lowers for other companies - they were the machinists, literally "making" the parts, with other companies names and rollmarks added to them, for those companies... Eventually, some of those "machining companies" started branding their own hardware, and selling it. Aero Precision started out this way. In the early days, they made lowers for Spike's Tactical and SAA - and still do for SAA. Stubborn Mule Outdoor Supply - this is top-tier hardware, right here. They started by manufacturing uppers and lower for two VERY high quality companies, before they started making their own stuff. I'm still pissed at myself for NOT getting one of their lowers (made for another company), before they stopped making/selling it. I missed out... CMT - makes ALOT of the parts for ALOT of OEM companies. The names continue - there are alot of companies out there that have their own lower, but they don't make it themselves. Someone else makes it for them. Very few companies make their own parts. In the old days, one of the only companies that absolutely made every single one of their own parts was Olympic Arms. I kid you not. Hellaciously accurate barrels, too.

So, I got two pairs of these boots based on "military mentality." You have even-day boots and odd-day boots, and you rotate out daily. Boots last WAY longer like that. As soon as I tried them on, they were comfortable as any boot I've ever worn, so, just buy 2 right away. Done deal. So, I had the first pair on my feet Wednesday. Second pair Thursday. Well, on Wednesday, I see this 20-year old kid at the shop looking at my feet - he didn't say anything... Thursday at lunch we all gathered in a conference room, had pizza and wings for another guy's last day there - going away lunch, kinda. This 20-year old kid is looking at my feet again... I knew he was gonna say something, and I was ready for him. He says, "Dang Tom, what's up with the boots?..." My reply was instant. "They're extremely lightweight, it's like having running shoes on your feet, but with ankle support and a full 8" upper. They're light in construction, and don't make my feet hot, and my feet don't sweat hardly at all, but I still have a "boot" on. Plus, they give me great traction when I'm with your Mom..." Silence... jaws dropped... for a second. The laughter after that initial "what did he say?" was out of control... The guy was was the focus of the going away lunch said that I made his day with that one, and he'd never forget his last day there...

...that were both ROCKING the shotguns and rippin' targets UP!!!

I didn't think about the 5.56 part of that - makes perfect sense. Matrix "got known, publicly" with their own 308 receivers, because they made the 308s for Ruger. Perfect sense that they made ALL the stuff for Ruger ARs, large and small. Excellent point, brother...

I've got a complete (modern) PSA PA-10 Carbine recoil System on it's way to me. I will spec that thing out to death, and report all the differences in it, along with all the AR-10 Carbine stuff I keep recommending. I just received a new AR-10 Carbine system in the mail yesterday, to replace the one I'd sent off at the beginning of the week, to fix one of these rifles. I will give you guys the details on the differences. There are a few. I can fix your .308 Carbine Recoil System, and make you a functional rifle. That's beyond a doubt, if you trust what I'm saying... There's no reason you should have to modify the parts that were sent to you, though, unless it's something very, very minor. Replace 2 out of 3, or even 3 out of 3 parts in the system? Hell no, it shouldn't be that way. I'm always down with minor modifications, but I'm not down with a complete replacement of the recoil system of your rifle, just to get it functional. I will never pull punches when telling any of you that, either.

I'm in, man - I'll try them. The only thing I've loaded for 300BLK has been Hornady 150 FMJBTs. Midrange weight, midrange velocity, HELLACIOUS punch. I'll try these Sierra 125s out, and load some up.

It's solid. Their SR-762 lower needs a couple weird parts.

What do you have on order or in the mail? Part 2

They are. I have a few of them, and they work, well. -
Link, dude, link. You talking 5.56, .308, what here...
-
They always seem like that. Those are the excuses that they just rotate through, in order, to explain their junk. And it's junk. You have some of it in your hands, now. Here's the deal, man. You're already talking about reselling things. Yeah, how much you gonna make? Gonna recover your costs? No. Just eat it, and pick up an AP M5 upper receiver, and throw that Davidson upper in the trash. You'll be far better off, have less headaches, sleep better at night, all your missing hair will grown back, you'll lose 20lbs, and appear more attractive to the opposite sex. Write them the bad review on the out-of-spec part that they sold you - because YOU deserve to, and YOU are a first-hand person of their junk, that can warn the next guy... Don't even fuk around with that company anymore - the history is there, and I gave it to you. Read all those BBB Reviews. That's the BBB, man! Search online for all the OTHER shiit reviews on this place. It's your money, so do what you want, but think about this - why are you here? You had a problem with your rifle, and you had to find a solution, and you found THIS place. We do this all the time, with less-than-quality parts. Imagine the frustration from this side of the fence for a minute... You have any idea how tiring this is, dragging information out of someone, just in order to find out the REAL problem? It'll fucking wear you OUT. Now, recommendations aren't made lightly here. We don't mess around, and we tell you what is gonna FIX your rifle. You can either take that advice, or not. Now, you're talking about giving them "another chance..." Do it, go ahead. When you get that upper in, don't post a thread here about the newest thing that's a problem with it. Don't. We don't need to hear it, we don't wanna drag the information out, we don't wanna help - with junk parts. Sucks to hear, I know - I just wish you were on the other side of it - and you WILL be, once you're a gunsmith, running a shop, and dealing with these shiit-parts. You can get a free education right now, and learn - or you can learn the hard way. You decide.

NICE! Get 'em, Chris Rock! http://www.foxnews.com/entertainment/2018/06/07/chris-rock-tells-obamas-to-make-your-money-but-not-on-netflix.html

Might be worth taking it - it'll be an AP upper, probably a blem. AP only sells cosmetic blems, and their functional blems go in the trash, so it'll work. It won't be an AP barrel, or any other AP parts, though - just generic stuff. And... will you receive it?... The big question is, will they be prompt about it?...
-
Oooooooh, NOW you did it!!!
-
They buy alot of "blems" from other companies, and put stuff together by incorporating those parts. Along with (stated by others) alot of cheap chinese parts. So, the question really is: are those blems "cosmetic" or were they functional blems?... Looks like that upper was a functional blem... No big deal, and easy to fix. Might not be cheap to fix, but it's not hard to do. Hopefully, others see this, down the road, and they consider their parts source. "Buy once, cry once" can be a direct insult, when someone is telling you to buy a $4,500 rifle - that's BS. However, parts should always be sourced from reputable manufacturers and reputable vendors. "The cheapest" out there is usually that way for a reason. I'm just sayin'... Warning to others...

About twice a year, I feel the need to post a Public Service Announcement... First, research the company address, then input that address into your search engine, and check out all the matches. One of those matches will lead you to this: https://www.bbb.org/utah/business-reviews/gun-dealers/delta-team-tactical-in-orem-ut-22290621/reviews-and-complaints?section=reviews&reviewtype=negative

The mismatch in companies isn't causing it - an upper that didn't have the area for the mag insertion machined deep enough - that's the problem. The upper isn't machined correctly...

^^^ DAMN@! That thing is well built!
