This legislation would allow for the lawful possession and transfer of historically significant armaments and protect veterans from potential criminal liability for purely technical violations of the law that do not endanger public safety. Members of the U.S. Armed Forces serving overseas in combat zones have over the years brought home a variety of mementos from their deployments. In some cases, these have included captured firearms of the type that require registration and the payment of a special tax under the NFA. Such legal technicalities, however, were presumably not foremost on the minds of the brave young service persons who had survived the ordeal of war and simply wanted to resume their normal lives in America. Over the years these firearms have sat harmlessly idle in untold numbers of attics, basements, and barns. For the veterans who owned them and their families, however, these relics represent potent reminders of freedom’s heavy cost. The NFA normally requires firearms to be registered at their time of their manufacture or transfer. Private possession of unregistered firearms is illegal. Congress passed legislation in 1968 that granted a brief, limited amnesty period to register war trophies, but with the primitive means of communication available at the time, most veterans were unaware of that opportunity or learned too late to take advantage of it. This left very few options for lawful preservation of the affected firearms. Even relatives or heirs who discover these firearms and wish to dispossess themselves of them could face criminal prosecution for their possession. These bills would allow veterans or their family members to come into full compliance with the law and ensure that these valuable and historically significant items were not lost to future generations. The bills also provide for various means of publicizing the amnesty period, including via the Internet. If the present owner of the firearm proved ineligible to possess it, the bills allow for its transfer to a qualifying museum during the five-year period after it is forfeited to the government. NRA fully supports S. 1435 and H.R. 3054, and appreciates Sen. Cotton's and Rep. Roe’s leadership in this important effort.

First, it's a curved back on it, so it's NOT an Armalite pattern at all. DPMS uses a formed extrusion for their LR308 upper, then machines that. You can see it from the curves and lines in the upper, if you know what you're looking for/at. They also piggyback the forward assist right into the shell deflector. Take a look at that second pic shepp posted - that's your upper receiver. The pic I posted below is from the link of me asking "if this was what you purchased... "

That's a DPMS-brand upper receiver, right there, made from an extrusion. I'm not sure how DPMS uppers fit on PSA lowers. Not sure if they fit great, or don't fit at all.

That depends - measure the thickness of the tang on the upper, above the charging handle. Some of these were made in true Armalite pattern (barrel nut threading and upper height). Some of these were made in the DPMS pattern (barrel nut and upper height). Quickest way to find out here - what SWS rail did you put on it - what was that SWS rail made for? If you get into measurements, here's where you do it - this is strictly a DPMS-based thing. Armalite never did this shiit... just one height for them...

"We do not want to dilute trust because trust is the most important thing in policing," said Chief Beck. Beck and De Leon were joined by former U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder. They oppose two bills passed Thursday by the House. One measure – named Kate's law after a young woman who was killed by an illegal immigrant who had been deported five times – stiffens punishment for people who re-enter the US illegally. The other strips some federal dollars from "sanctuary" cities that refuse to cooperate with ICE. In the eyes of Levi Bolton, executive director to the Arizona Police Association, that would be a mistake. In May 2008, Phoenix reversed itself, becoming a non-sanctuary state. Under the policy, police had full discretion to ask suspects about their immigration status and had the freedom to call ICE. "We saw a decrease in crime," said Bolton. "It had a deterrent effect on folks because the risk of discovery went up exponentially when we actually enforced the law." Bolton served with Mark Spencer, who spent 25 years patrolling in Phoenix. "When we eliminated our sanctuary policy back in 2008, we saw crime, violent and stolen vehicles fall by 25 percent," he recalled. "We saw a 20-year low crime rate. When we were allowed and had the discretion to contact our federal immigration partners, crime fell drastically." According to City-Data.com, which collects data from various government agencies, from 2008 to 2009 Phoenix's murder rate fell 27 percent, robberies by 23 percent, assault by 13 percent, burglaries by 14 percent and theft by 19 percent. The numbers for each category fell the following year as well – albeit by smaller margins. The bills in Congress still face stiff opposition in the senate, where Sanctuary supporters claim the "reckless" Trump Administration led to a decrease in sexual assault and domestic violence because those who may report such crimes fear deportation. Under his statewide sanctuary bill, "local police officers will maintain the trust of immigrant communities that has been carefully nurtured,” he claimed, “the trust that is so important to our safety."
