I did the NM A2 carry handle rear sight from RRA, 1/4 x 1/4 MOA with 0.040 aperature, and not the 1/2 x 1/2 MOA version. Finally found the thread on that build.

Anything from Young Manufacturing is quality. They do great parts.

I have 2 of them, man. Both are great, and love them. One is a YHM 20" 1:7 heavy cromo barrel, 5.56 NATO chamber, scoped, and that things shoot the lights out, at distance. The other is The Woody... Built this gun as a National Match iron sight rifle... RRA 20" 1:8 heavy stainless barrel, .223 Wylde chamber, National Match iron sights, and it shoots the lights out, too - for iron sights. Taken it out to 450 without issue. Need to stretch it out more, but just haven't done it. That will be coming this fall, though...

Mine is probably that heavy- or more - with the 18" barrel. Haven't weighed it yet. Lemme get to that. Answer = 8.68 pounds unloaded, 9.50 pounds with a loaded 20-round Gen 2 PMag.

They are not educated, and I bet they get parts returns, or complaints. You know, when parts don't fit. Or work right. You're whole argument SS, well, it IS the argument. Look again at what you've typed above... Just very recently, we had the whole diagnosis process of a guy with a rifle that's not performing. It's pretty obvious to us that the wrong gas tube had been used. We directly tell him - I directly told him - that he needs the real, genuine Armalite AR-10 gas tube. THE Armalite AR-10 gas tube. Guy goes to his "gunsmith" and says he needs an Armalite AR-10 gas tube. Comes back, and tells us it's the exact same length as his other one. NOT. Wrong one. WE give dimensions for said gastube. He looks it up, orders it, and it fixes the issue. He returns to his "gunsmith" and informs him of the differences, and the "gunsmith" says, "I had no idea they were different..." Bingo. Sold. That's the difference. Throw that Ford 5.0 waterpump on your SBC. It should fit, with sealant.

Some of those prices are pretty decent. Scope mounts and barrels, in particular.

To get into that discussion, you'd need to understand the M-16/M4 TDP. There is no TDP on the large-frame ARs. If anything was ever close to it, it would've been the KAC SR-25 and variants.

Colt hasn't raised as much hell about the "AR-15" term use in the weapon system's designation. If they'd try it now, they'd have a very hard time going after every manufacturer, based on a term that's become common-use (that they allowed to become a common-use term). Shiit, they don't even hold the M-16 base contract with the military anymore... So, to answer your original question - yes, it's totally ok to call any piece of crap rifle you build in 5.56/.223 an AR-15.

That combo makes 800 yards pretty easy, honestly. I've been stuck with the Hornady 75gr BTHP projectiles for several years now. Very, very slight accuracy edge with those, over the Sierra 77gr BTHP Matchkings. Seriously. Cram 24.0gr of RL-15 under a Hornady 75gr in Lake City brass, and you're cooking 2750 fps. You can go higher on the powder charge, but you better test them yourself, incrementally, in very small increments, too. If your brass and chamber live through it, you can pull 2850fps with that combination of components. 2750fps is a great speed for those bullets. EDIT - ^^^ In that info above, I am NOT talking about the Hornady 75gr AMAX projectile. I' talking about the 75gr BTHP, Hornady item # 2279... You can't load that AMAX to mag length... Don't blow your shiit up...

Seems expensive for a single-rifle case, even though it has outside storage. I'd spend the money on a VooDoo Tactical padded double case for that much money. More options, more storage, great bag.

The diff between 1 and 2 was a material change. Once the bodies were made with a different material, they had a "Revision M" injected into the mold. Rev M mags are Gen 2 mags. If they are the older style, and don't have Rev M in them, they are first generation mags. They changed mags didn't really get the name "Gen 2" until they were offered cheaper, without the dust cover, and were marketed as "Gen 2 MOE" mags, to follow the lower pricing of the rest of the MOE line... So, old style with no Rev M = Gen 1. old style with Rev M = Gen 2. Gen 2 on the left, with the M - compared to Gen 3 on the right:

Nope, no issues with 5.56 at all - just because the mag was designed for 5.56. That little nub sticking out is there for the neck diameter of 5.56, and to make sure the round stays perfectly aligned when it's the top round in the mag. With metal mags, you won't have an issue that I can think of. I'll check some old Colt 20 rounders and see. That's only an issue on Gen 2 PMags (and first release PMags). That same side nub is there on the Gen 3 PMags, but that center divider is lower in the mag body, so the two aren't fighting each other with these larger diameter rounds.

Okay, so when you're searching out stuff, looking for parts, etc., and you read reviews... How often does it bother you that you're reading something from a complete idiot?... It bugs me greatly. I hate to read a seemingly well written review, only to find someone fuk it up at the last minute, and show that they have no idea what they're talking about. My big thing recently is "reticule" when talking about scopes. Literally, a "reticule" is a woman's handbag. Yes, a woman's handbag... Check it, you'll see what I'm talking about... If you're gonna talk about a product, and put so much time into your review, to make me think you really believe in, or hate, this product - then fucking get smart about the terminology involved here. Don't start telling me about how clear the glass is, how it got fuzzy at max magnification, because you never use max magnification for what you do, and how the mil-dots don't help you because you always hunt with a laser range finder - you bought the wrong scope, asshead, and your review is worthless. But, for fuk's sake, don't lecture others on the "reticule" not being what you expected when you received it - you fucking ordered it, knowing what it was. You didn't order a woman's handbag, you dumbass... What bothers you guys?... Terminology-wise, so we kinda stick to the subject here...
