To build or not to build. That is the question.

As I stated in an earlier post, my brother bought an Armalite from CDDN for just under $1,000. I was going to build one for much less just to show him up. After researching, I don't believe I can build a quality 308 platform rifle for much under, if any, than what he paid for his. I am a novice on the 308 platform, but was a Gunners Mate during the "police action" of Viet Nam, Republic of. I spent some time in the armory but most of my time was in the field, using the weapons.

So, what is, in your best scientific and unabashed opinion, the best 308 platform? I am older and wiser now than I used to be. I used to give a poop, but I take a pill for that now.

LaRue Tactical makes (arguably) the best "out of the box" rifle available. That being said, there are several other contenders available as well. LWRCi and Colt both make a very formidable opponent.

 I  agree with all ,the all seeing Robocop has said. <thumbsup> But they won't be any where near the $ 1000.00 price .  You can't beat that price of the AR 10.

Not possible.  Not for what Armalite is literally giving away, for just under $1k.  You can't build anything for that price that will show up his rifle.

Wet    screw the price....build one using a MegaMa10 billet matched upper/lower...a good barrel and a sweet trigger

you will have pride in you rifle ..it could end up weighing less too, and you will shoot better...and you are taking chill pills to smooth out your build...so go for it  :) Wash

I was a sniper and he was in the National Guard. He said they only fired 10 rounds, probably just to see how many might be shell shocked from the noise! LOL

So, I guess I will save my nickels and dimes. Maybe pick up some more cans along the road. I built my M1a and it is a under 1/2" shooter at 100 yards. He thinks his AR-10 will be better.

Wet   your'e on the right track....build it and it will have the drool factor along with sub moa.....after he sees your build and the way it will shoot...he will kick dirt on his sluggo.... :) Wash
