trashman
Anyone have one of these? What size crowfoot wrench does it take? I'm assuming the barrel nut is the same as the ar15 variant just bigger. I can't seem to find this info anywhere Edited May 23, 2015 by trashman

trashman
Yea I seen that wash. And was searching around town for a 1 1/4" crows foot wrench. Then went to order one and seen this from Odin works... Technical Specs Use this crowfoot wrench to torque the barrel nut to 40-50 ft lbs. Not compatible with the ODIN Works 308 KMod Forend barrel nut.
guruofhotrod
I had the same problem and as I posted in my thread on my adventures with my Odin install : I Drew up a special box end crowsfoot wrench in the "Flow Waterjet software" at work and cut one out of some 1/2" 4340 alloy plate: It's 1-3/8" across the flats and I torqued mine to 75 ft/lbs I also wound up making the aluminum adapter to the correct dimension to properly align the rail on my pre 2009 style "DPMS Type High Profile" upper (details in thread) Edited May 23, 2015 by guruofhotrod

washguy
Forget all that fancy crap....I watched the Odin factory gal video...she uses a crescent wrench with no torque wrench....lol :) Wash
trashman
Are you sure it's not one of those fancy torque crescent wrenches that are like a million $$? Plus I'm sure it was just for demonstration. Probably a bad idea to just wing it like that

Probably a bad idea to just wing it like that Truth be told...there's a lot of handguards installed without a torque wrench, and ill bet they are okay....when the threads squeek...thats more than a hundred....so its bout half the grunt to put one on :) Wash

Robocop1051
I rarely ever torque the barrel nut. It's not like they're going to come loose... most of the time there's a gas tube locking it in place.
kenichols29
I installed my Odin works handguard an a torque wrench worked fine.
survivalshop
I haven't used a Torque wrench to tighten a Barrel nut for a very long time , but if you feel the need to use one , that's fine too <thumbsup> .
