I finally got my Flash hider removed.  Turns out it is left hand threads?  The muzzle brake, I purchased is Right hand!  Guess its gonna be a coffee table topic.  Is there a way to tell what brand of upper is on my ar?  It was built by someone, sometime back.  Then I bought it.  Any suggestions on where to get a left handed muzzle brake?  I want to make sure I get the right one this time.  Any advice would be appreciated....

Give Huber Concepts a call 920-921-9641 or check them out at huberconcepts.com  if you call them you most likely get John on the phone, great man to deal with and the owner. also check out his web site and see some of his video's.

Left hand threads on the barrels muzzle , that's a new one on me . Why ?     Sure makes it proprietary !  That sight shows a 14mm x 1mm LH , strange thread pitch .

Check AK suppliers like KVAR and AK-47 dot com.  I bet they have left-hand threaded brakes/accessories.

Thats a standard AK barrel thread I believe. Maybe go shopping for an AK style brake?

jinx!

why would someone put an ak barrel on a AR?

if its a 7.62x39 AR, then it makes total sense

I don't believe they used an AK barrel, rather I believe they threaded the AR barrel on the muzzle with left-hand threads in order to use an AK brake.

Which are very plentiful.

And work.

If it's 14x1mm LH then it's standard AK threads, but make sure that's what it actually is.  I believe the MSAR STG uses 13x1mm LH threads, and I've seen 13.5 and 14.5 LH pitch on a couple others.

Measure twice, cry once, right?

.....or designed it for suppressor use since it's "easier" to put on a suppressor on a LH threaded barrel when you're holding the firearm on your right hand and use the left hand to thread it on. That's why a lot of handguns have LH threaded barrels.

Kinda weird to see it on an AR platform.
