DIY Annealer

Just finished assembling my Annealer. It beats paying for a manufactured one. I'm going to touch up a few things and paint it and I'm sure it will look tons better but the important thing is that it functions.

Yeah, you gotta fix the video....  just looks like something that could do evil things to you.  If it has any buttons that say "automatic", stay the hell away from them.....  I'm just sayin'...

If you guys want to make one there is a big long thread over on a very common ar forum (not sure if I'm allowed to post the link). Just search DIY Annealer and it should come up. It's like 18 pages long and it tells you guys exactly how to make it.

That is one Rube Goldberg looking contraption but I like it! It definitely gets the job done.

 That is pretty cool , but how do they know what temperature the brass case is ? Under heating , it would not of done anything & over heating will make the brass brittle & useless . I see they have controls for what looks like speed , so they may have a timed temp. control . 

  I use a temperature marker so I can see when it changes color at the proper temperature range . I have found that all brass is not created equal , but maybe I'm just anal about it .

in the original instructions they show using a paint on temp indicator liquid  to use on an old cartridge case to set the speed of the main motor to get the correct annealing temp.

Correct. You put 750 degree tempalaq (it's a paste that melts at a certain degree) on a few cases inside the neck and when it melts you know it's at that temp. You just figure around how many seconds it takes and then set the drum to the correct speed so it holds the case that long before dropping it.

 Thats what I use for my Annealing , to show temp, but I paint it at the shoulder & use 650 degree Tempalaq . I do like that automated set up .
