In watching the video the targets looked like the little Iranian boats that have been harassing US ships.  Lasers don't leave any evidence, do they?

Actually those are the standard floating targets the US Navy uses. Both the towed one and the boat/drone. The munitions were a nice added touch. How about frying the electronics of Sukhoi SU-24's when they do a flyby? Which they are doing a lot of lately.

Directed energy weapons will fry those out.

IMO Trump should lay down the law and, the next time it happens that a SU-24 buzzes a U.S. Navy vessel, CIWS it into oblivion.
