Remote Switch Mounting

Can anyone make suggestions about techniques for mounting a remote switch and hiding/managing the wire.  I purchased a Magpul Mlok switch cover to use.  I'd like to avoid any common mistakes like melted wires.

In the past ive used sections of bike inner tube around the rail.

LaRue makes some wire management clips for rails.

I've got a Viridian light/laser that I run on my Daniels MK18.I just kept it simple and used small black cable ties to secure it to the rail. You can see in the pic, all I did was tuck the cable into the notch of the rail, zip tied it and then put the rail covers back on. I like simple, and it worked fairly well.
