Ma3je87
Hello everyone , im new to building ar10. In the past I have owned 2 6.8 ars. One was a Yankee hill and the other was a Aero Precision. I'm looking to build my 308 similar to my Aero 6.8. i used the following components in my 6.8 : 6061 Billet upper and lower, stainless melonited 1:8 twist barrel, sure fire flash hider, stainless melonited gas tube and gas block, Ti-nitrided mil spec BCG, titanium firing pin, Crane extractor upgrade kit & one piece gas ring on bolt, timney drop in trigger, KNS trigger pin kit, JL Billet fore end(hand guard), magpul grip and butt stock, milspec M4 buffer tube, buffer, and spring. And BCM gun fighter charging handle. my question is can I go the same route with my 308 just changing it for the 308 instead of the 6.8? Any help or suggestions would be great thanks i attched pics of my last Aero 6.8 build

EngrBob
Howdy from the Texas side of the borders. The real difference between your 6.8 build and a .308 build is that the 6.8 uses AR-15 mil spec upper and lower receivers and all the associated lower and upper parts. My 6.8 has essentially a different manufacturer for every part. The large frame .308s are a bit different. Triggers and pins are usually interchangeable with the AR-15, but buffer and spring, lower parts kit should be either AR-10 or DPMS 308 specific. If you are acquiring a 100% lower receiver it is a good idea to use upper and lower from the same manufacturer. Make sure you check to see if the upper is high or low profile before acquiring the handguard. If you use 80% lowers you should be able to machine the lower to match the upper so fitment isn't as much of an issue. If you look around you will see that I am just parroting what is in many of the threads here so just read up before you buy and expect suggestions. Ma3je87
Should I stick with a billet lower and upper or does it matter
