New Tennessee Arms/Aero Build

It's been a while since I did a new build. Thought I'd share this one with you.

Lower:

  1. Tennessee Arms black polymer lower
  2. Stoner customizable 308AR lower parts kit
  3. DPMS ambidextrious safety
  4. Magpul MOE grip
  5. Rough Justice trigger
  6. CMC anti-walk pins
  7. DPMS mil-spec carbine extension
  8. DPMS 308AR carbine buffer
  9. DPMS 308AR carbine buffer spring
  10. Magpul adjustable MOE SL carbine stock

Upper:

  1. Aeroprecision USA M5E1 upper
  2. Aeroprecision USA charging handle
  3. Faxon 18 inch heavy fluted barrel
  4. Superlative Arms adjustable clamp-on gas block 0.75"
  5. Toolcraft nitrided BCG
  6. Magpul Pro BUIS with the new narrow front sight post

The lower went together without too much trouble. Tennessee Arms has done some evolutionary improvements to their polymer lower. This one fit the Aero upper like a glove. The one I did two years ago I had to sand a little bit of polymer off the upper deck to make it fit. First time I didn't lose any springs during assembly either! The finished lower weighs 2lb 2.4oz. Not bad. I like the MOE grip. It's a hard plastic hand grip with stippling- very comfortable and very grippy. I've found the Rough Justice triggers to be very sensitive but excellent. The FCG pins tend to walk on these RJ triggers, so I just installed an anti-walk pin set to begin.
The upper was a bit problematic. The barrel nut broke a tooth while tightening and loosening it three times. Doesn't seem to be of any moment (yet). I installed the SA gas block, bottomed the screw, 4 1/2 turns out, then two turns in for starters. Will adjust at the range. I just put a generic bird cage on the muzzle. I've never shot a 308AR without a compensater so this will be interesting. I'm really happy with the way this one went together, although someone needs to make a slightly longer mag release catch for these beasts.
I won't be able to get to the range for a bit. I'm looking forward to this new one (to replace the weapons that fell into the lake during the boating accident.)

Thanks for the thread @mineralman55, very cool rifle.  I am considering using a TN Arms lower/Aero Precision upper for my first build.  How has the TN Arms composite lower performed?  Also, what handguard did you use for this build?

The TN Arms lowers seem to be very durable. No problems experienced yet, although the first one is somewhere in Lake Ponchartrain. The upper is the enhanced Aeroprecision. It only takes the Aeroprecision handguard that it designed to fit it like a glove. Very tite.

Thanks for the reply, I'm going to go with a TN Arms lower.
