Matt.Cross
Well, now that I have some pictures of Goldilocks, it's time to write this thread documenting the build. In February this build began when Dave Branson started the Mega Arms group buy. I signed up for a matched monolithic receiver. While I was waiting for my receiver to arrive, I began scouting out parts to complete my build. I ordered a custom barrel and matched bolt from Lothar Walther, and bought a SI Defense Fail Zero bolt carrier at the same time. The bolt carrier was still in development at that time, and though they're now completed, SI is still waiting for their bolts to ship back so they can begin shipping to customers. SI also sold me a MIAD grip, which will ship with my bolt. Brownells was the go-to source for the smaller components to complete the lower assembly. A DPMS lower parts kit supplied the mag release, trigger pins, and buffer stop. A Tubb flat wire spring drives the Enidine hydraulic cyclic reducer. All this is topped off with a PACT SR Gold trigger, the finest I have ever encountered in the AR world. Fulton Armory came through with an affordable, low-profile clamp-on gas block for the .936" barrel I'd ordered. I decided that the Bennie Cooley tactical muzzle brake was a good choice for muzzle rise and recoil reduction, and ordered one promptly. A forum member here offered up an OD Green Magpul PRS in the AR-10 style. Even though I wanted a black one, it was a price I couldn't refuse, so I bought it anyways and Krylon came through with the flat black I'd wanted. After getting tired of waiting for SI Defense and Lothar Walther to come through, I ordered a Douglas barrel from Fulton Armory with a matched bolt, and had Young Manufacturing ship me one of their excellent chromed bolts to complete the build. I also opted for a CAA UPG 16 grip to complete the build. The result is as you see it in the picture. When I got my rifle built, I had Mr. Dave Tooley time my muzzle brake onto the barrel for me, and I'm very satisfied that the rifle is a top-quality build. I can't wait to get some range results to share with you guys.Build specs from stem to stern:Magpul PRS - OD Green but Kryloned flat black, has picatinny monopodTubbs Flat Wound buffer springEnidine Hydraulic recoil bufferMega Arms Monolithic .308 matched receiverDPMS Lower Parts KitPACT SR Gold AR fire control groupYoung Manufacturing Chromed bolt carrierFulton Armory Bolt matched to an 18.5" Douglas barrel, .308, 1:10 twist, .936GBMagpul Rail CoversHarris Bipod on Larue QD bipod mountFulton Armory low profile gas block & rifle length gas tube, .936 gas blockBennie Cooley tactical compensator, turned to .930 and timed by Dave CooleySWFA AR 30mm optics mountNon-disclosure agreement optics 10-40x50, Red/Green lit Mil-Dot reticle[img width=810 height=607]http://i214.photobucket.com/albums/cc158/jm_cross/DSC00009.jpg[img width=810 height=607]http://i214.photobucket.com/albums/cc158/jm_cross/DSC00006.jpg[img width=810 height=607]http://i214.photobucket.com/albums/cc158/jm_cross/DSC00008.jpg[img width=810 height=607]http://i214.photobucket.com/albums/cc158/jm_cross/DSC00007.jpg[img width=810 height=607]http://i214.photobucket.com/albums/cc158/jm_cross/DSC00010.jpg[img width=810 height=607]http://i214.photobucket.com/albums/cc158/jm_cross/DSC00011.jpg[img width=810 height=607]http://i214.photobucket.com/albums/cc158/jm_cross/DSC00012.jpg[img width=810 height=607]http://i214.photobucket.com/albums/cc158/jm_cross/DSC00013.jpg[img width=810 height=607]http://i214.photobucket.com/albums/cc158/jm_cross/DSC00014.jpg[img width=810 height=607]http://i214.photobucket.com/albums/cc158/jm_cross/DSC00020.jpg[img width=810 height=607]http://i214.photobucket.com/albums/cc158/jm_cross/DSC00019.jpg[img width=810 height=607]http://i214.photobucket.com/albums/cc158/jm_cross/DSC00018.jpg[img width=810 height=607]http://i214.photobucket.com/albums/cc158/jm_cross/DSC00016.jpg[img width=810 height=607]http://i214.photobucket.com/albums/cc158/jm_cross/DSC00015.jpg[img width=810 height=607]http://i214.photobucket.com/albums/cc158/jm_cross/DSC00021.jpg[img width=810 height=607]http://i214.photobucket.com/albums/cc158/jm_cross/DSC00022.jpgHope you enjoyed it, happy shooting! Matt.Cross
Build #2 on the Mega Mono receiver set has begun. This one will stay as is, and the next will be built as this one was intended to be. <dontknow>What can I say, I'm hooked on this receiver set. Matt.Cross
Beautiful rifle Matt, good luck with it. You got a weight on that, as pictured?I don't at the moment, my old 24" DPMS came right in at 14.5, this one seems a hair lighter. I'm guessing 12-13, but take that with a grain of salt. Matt.Cross
What grip is that I like it a lot, I am rocking a stock LR308 grip :)That is a CAA UPG16, it has different backstraps and foregrips you can interchange. It's very nice, I couldn't like it better.

Matt.Cross
I like it looks good.A Douglas barrel matched to the BCG?Did you send your barrel to Fulton or did you send your bolt to Douglas?ALHere's the break down, Fulton Armory now sells Krieger Barrels for their M1 and M14 competition and peerless grades, and the AR barrels in 6.5 Creedmoor are Kreiger. However, if you buy their Titan 308 barrels or anything below the competition and peerless grades, you are getting a Douglas barrel. You can follow this link to see what I'm talking about:http://www.fulton-armory.com/%5Cfaqs%5CAR-FAQs%5CBarrels2.htmThen go to the Titan section and you should see that the 6.5 Creedmoor is the only AR barrel in that section that isn't labeled as a FA (Fulton Armory) barrel. <thumbsup> <thumbsup>
98Z5V
Funny - I had an off-line conversation with Matt about this, starting last night... ;DIn the past, all Fulton barrels were Douglas barrels. I ASS-umed that when Fulton started offering the Krieger Criterion barrels, that they had severed from Douglas - Alas! I was wrong! Again! <lmao> I guess they're still offering the Douglas barrels, just not as openly as they had in the past (or they're advertising the hell out of the Krieger barrels more...). <thumbsup> <laughs>That's some cool news, none the less. I've always loved Fulton barrels, but now I need to go shopping for a Fulton-Douglas. :o ;D

I think the most likely one is that they had a contract with Douglas and once they've depleted their stock, the Kreiger barrel will become their "house brand" barrel blank for everything. I would think right now if you buy a Titan barrel that's not the Creedmoor, you're getting the Douglas, unless they've sold all their old stock.Plenty of good options too, 18.5", 20" and 22" barrels. As stated, I got the 18.5 just to try out a shorter, lighter barrel and it shoots unbelievably well.
