Inherited a DPMS lower. Help with gen and compatibility.

Hello all, 

I inherited a DPMS lower and was thinking of building it as a sort of memorial to the owner who passed on. 
 

That said I’m a bit overwhelmed by the various types. And and apparently DPMS had different gens for what I’m seeing. 
 

That said, can you guys help me identify this lower and point me in a good direction for complete uppers, basic LPKs, buffers, etc?

Welcome to the forum.  Christmas is  sometimes hard to get quick replies from the people who know.  It appears to be a standard DPMS 308AR lower.

Your best bet for compatibility would be to use a DPMS upper.  Sadly, that ship may have sailed when they went bankrupt and were sold in pieces.  They are not impossible to find, just not available everywhere anymore.  You can inquire about this one if it will fit your needs.  I believe it to be made under the same corporate group as DPMS prior to bankruptcy.

Welcome from Iowa! As said above the true DPMS branded uppers may be hard to find now. I don't know why an Aero upper wouldn't fit for you, won't blend seamlessly to the lower but should function fine.

It is.  Regular old DPMS LR-308 lower receiver.   I'll find a regular LR-308 flat top upper somewhere tonight and link it in here.

Thanks! I was reading some other sites saying aero precision works on gen1 Dpms lowers but wasn’t sure if that’s what I have here.

Thank you. I have never built a complete upper before, maybe this will be the rifle I do it on. But was thinking of finding a nice complete upper
