We'd have to compare, side by side, the .308 Win case, the 6.5 Creed case, and this 8.6 BLK case. If we run .308 Win brass for this, we'll be pushing the shoulder back a bit, and expanding at the same time. 6.5 C has a good bit of case taper to it, over a straight-cased (almost) .260 or .308.

Okay, here's 8.6 BLK compared to .308 Win.

Here's .308 Win compared to 6.5 Creed - 6.5C on the left, .308 on the right:

So, on this 8.6 BLK, they kicked that Creed neck WAY back to make this round. Can we run a .308 Win case through an 8.6 BLK sizer die, shorten the case, and give the .308 Win case that same taper as a 6.5C?... :popcorn: I dunno.

I think we need to look at whether we can make 6.5C brass out of .308 Win cases. If we can - then we can make 8.6 BLK from .308 Win cases.

We?? Who is this We fella? If this is a team effort, if you supply the rifle, I'll supply the 308 brass to experiment with. If the experiment goes bust you still have a dandy rifle and I'll still have brass. Sounds good to me! :thumbup: :hornet:

Where did you find that 8.6 BLK is spawned from a 6.5 Creedmoor?

For the sake of enquiring minds want to know, I'll pull out a once fired and FL resized case of each one and measure them up. Stay tuned for details.

My new 16 incher got here Friday, but I'ma gonna let it sit here on the bench for awhile. Got most of the goodies already, but still hafta make up my mind on a coupla things yet, mostly the RE, spring, and buffer. Leaning toward the Armalite kit. Got a HeavyBuffers kit for the 20 incher with a 6.5oz buffer and matching spring. Still cogitating on it, though. We shall see. :popcorn:

In the meantime, I'll work on getting back to the range for some more break in on the 20 incher - got 80 through it now.

So...., just ordered another XH buffer/spring combo from Heavy Buffers. Not ordering anything else until next week. Still gotta get a set of Magpul Pro sights, RE tube, a couple accessories, and machine the lower. Gonna use the orig BCG. Gonna be fun for the break in!!😁 Then comes the assembly itself!🤪
