Just heard about this a little earlier today...

I'll try to track down the video, but I found a good possible motive for this.  Not an explanation, because there is no explanation - but a motive.

I'll try to load it into this post.

This isn't the direct one I was hunting for, so I'll keep looking.  However, goof info here.

Great talk-through of the most likely motivation by IRS.

But, that agency broke the law, by seizing those 4473's - it's not their jurisdiction, no matter how you slice that pie...

They're going on a snipe hunt. Casting a wide net. Since the store was already under investigation, it was the best opportunity they had to test the theory and see if they could track down all those 'felons'.
