Anyone with a 3d printer and a computer can download the CAD and make one. I saw one made out of a polymer cutting board. It didn't last long, but it works for a little while.

I just saw a guy had made a 10/22 receiver out of ABS.  He hasn't shot it yet but it's pretty cool.

Back in the day when you made a firearm it was called a zip gun,and it would kill you sure as poop,or blow up which ever came first.

I have a polymer lower by PCM on one of my 6.8s. It has 6-700 6.8 rounds on it and 3-400 5.56 with no signs of wear or failure. I'm thouroughly impressed by it. I wouldn't discount plastic guns too much!

I've got 3 Plum Crazy's in use ; ar15 pistol , 6.8 & 223 ar15 rifles all with over 500 rounds on them.
