I need some advice on choosing a sling, I have a lwrc repr with the 20" heavy barrel,Prs stock,harris bipod,weaver tactical scope,it's 14 to 15lbs :o keep in mind it also has a large side charging knob. Soon I will be involved in some tactical training and I will be needing to carry it mostly in wooded terrain, for hours! What type of sling,brand,attachment method would you recommend and what carry position would be best?

You have a couple things going on here...  hence, different recommendations.  IMHO, you need TWO slings.

Those are two different things, completely.  Now, don't think I'm crazy, here - for the carrying in wooded terrain, for hours, you need an old-school 3-point sling, and I'd only recommend the one from Tactical Tailor - it's wide, and the width disperses the load.  3-ppoint for walking long hours, especially with a pig like a .308 AR.

On the shooting course stuff, I'd probably do with a 2-point, with some quick detach capability.  Pick something wider than 1" webbing, but the 1" webbing might be alright, too - depends on the course and conditions.  If you went with something like the BDS Tactical dual sling (I have a couple of those), then it's 1 1/4" webbing, and can convert from 2-point to single point (attaching to itself) in a matter of a second or two.  Figure out your rear attachment point, and run a MagPul RSA on the front of the gun.  That would do it.

They make it padded, or unpadded (mine are unpadded).

...is there a way to put some type of quick detach on the prs?

Comes with two sling loops on it.  One vertical at the back, and one horizontal, towards the front.  Wouldn't be hard to fashion a QD release with a piece of webbing, locking bar, and a fastex buckle.  <thumbsup>

I like this LaRue sling but in the description it says the pre attached swivels will attach to any 1.25" QD socket, is there a difference in 1" & 1.25 sockets? <dontknow>

{The quick-adjustable design allows you to carry the weapon at the ready, with the muzzle pointed downward. Because this sling holds the rifle close to the torso, fast transitions between rifle and pistol are possible simply by swinging the rifle to the small of the back or along the side. 1.25 Inch Quick Detach (QD) Swivels at each end, attach to all LaRue handguards and any stock with a 1.25" QD socket.}

Will the LaRue padded sling connect to this Gear Sector socket? http://www.gearsector.com/view/product/189/

The sizes (1" and 1.25") refer to the loops, and the size of the sling webbing material that they're made for - the sockets and what they plug into are supposed to be universal.
