planeflyer21
Waiting on that Bravo Company pencil-barrel upper, which will be mated to the 2VA (Two Vets Arms) limited edition Spartan lower. This will be primarily for the girls to be shooting. They already are opting for a pink/purple mix on plastic. What is a good light handguard? A 4-rail would be fine (a little less pastel color).Still going to need a carbine length buffer tube, with spring, buffer, plus all the guts. What is everyone's recommendation to consider?Jon
edgecrusher
Check out Centurion C4 rails. I have a 12" I got from Rainier, it's super light and is a solid fit. Here is a pic from when I duracoated my mk12 build. These were mock up pics, I haven't chosen a barrel yet for this second upper.
Dusty44
I like the DPMS FF tubes on my rifles (308 & 5.56) because they are smooth. Maybe not the lightest possible, but just aluminum tubes. Close to minimum weight. Also, slotted for air flow cooling and buying the maximum length provides options for grip. planeflyer21
Cool Tom!That MI was one of the ones I was spying at Brownell's. Ultimately the gals will choose.Got a source for pink LP picatinny ladder covers? Or purple...they're arguing over how much of which. One thing they are NOT arguing about is that cute cuddly cop with the pink rifle. <lmao>Jon
98Z5V
Ergo makes the ladder covers:Google-search for the best prices - they're not very "mainstream," so they're not easy to find, unless you go to online sources.

planeflyer21
Yup.I have to sneak new poop in there when Angie's at work. Months later when she says "Is that new?" >:(I just say "What? This old thing?" ???It helps that they all have levers or are black.Jon
Robocop1051
APEX handguards are lightweight and rock solid, although a little pricey. They are also much thinner profile than most. You can get a really good grip on the dang thing.
98Z5V
^^^ What he said. That's the freefloat that was on his .308 carbon-barreled beauty, too. I fondled that once you dropped it off (Rob), and it was in my possession for more than a day... <lmao> Just sayin'... :o
Robocop1051
It is also compatible with Magpul polymer rails. That's what I've been using to keep the weight down. I pulled off the side mount Mod-Pod. I'll install a sling nub tomorrow. I want something "quick detach" instead.
98Z5V
No acceptance of my comment whatsoever that I fondled your rail for over a full day, without your supervision... <lmao> You must be damaged by my comment, in some fashion... <laughs>I ran my hands all OVER that thing, brother... :o ;D <munch>

planeflyer21
Keep 'em coming folks! The BCM upper came today. Only a month+ before the stripped lower gets here!Still need trigger group, grip, mags, mag release, buffer and tube, bolt and carrier group, etc.I'm especially interested to hear what Heather and Jennifer have to say about what they like on AR15s.That BCM is a solid looking assembly! Glad Tom twisted my arm to get it.Jon
Robocop1051
I'm especially interested to hear what Heather and Jennifer have to say about what they like on AR15s.Jen likes the two tone color rifles. She's particularly fond of the FDE and BLK combo. She also is appreciative of camo, but she's critical about paint jobs. Have you seen the Mission First Tactical? They have a new color called "Scortched Dark Earth" that looks pretty creative and promising <dontknow>
98Z5V
That BCM is a solid looking assembly! Glad Tom twisted my arm to get it.bullpoopy - I didn't have to "twist" that hard... <laughs> She also is appreciative of camo, but she's critical about paint jobs. bullpoopy #2 - she didn't mind the "sponge-camo" on the FV-SR so bad. In fact, I think she kinda liked it... <thumbsup> <lmao> <dontknow>
planeflyer21
Nope, pink and purple is what they want. None of that "scorched Robo boxers". <laughs>The girl keeps saying "magneta". Not quite sure what that is, may have to buy a big box of Crayolas to find out.Hey Tom, will a bayonet fit on the upper from Bravo?Jon
