I want the rail on the hand guard to equal in the rail on the upper of my gun. I snapped in a regular hand guard from a .223 on my gun and it fit the same. Robocop1051 Posted October 30, 2012 Report Posted October 30, 2012 Won't work. Many rail systems require the replacement of the barrel nut. Since the 308AR uses a larger nut, the handguards are not cross compatible. Look for .308 specific parts. A word of warning:99.999% of the time, you get what you pay for.
shawn9106 Posted October 30, 2012 Author Report Posted October 30, 2012 Well i took the regular handguard off of my brother Windham .223 and it fit perfect on my .308. what would be the difference if im just sliding the rings that holds it into place on it ?
MikedaddyH Posted October 30, 2012 Report Posted October 30, 2012 AR-308 Delta Kit @ Brownells. This will make it fit over the barrel. But there is no guarantee the rail will be in the right location with the gas block, spacing may be off !
shawn9106 Posted October 30, 2012 Author Report Posted October 30, 2012 I wouldnt mind spacing at the gas block. Im new to the AR. I want a quad rail to look like the one in the picture.But i cant find anything for 308 like that under 200 bucks. Or anything that just snaps in

MikedaddyH Posted October 30, 2012 Report Posted October 30, 2012 Maybe you could use the Magpul upper and add on a couple of rails. If there is a fitment issue the plastic is much easier to work with.

Midwest Industries have the drop in hand guards but the rail on it in the pictures is the same height as the rail on the gas block and not the top rail on the gun. On the oracle version it is same height as the rail on the gun. Why is that ?

You will regret it. Quality parts are not cheap, but there are quality parts out there that vary in price range. Don't f u c k yourself on some cheap poop.If this hurt your feelings, then think about it. Really think about it. Grow thick armor, man. If you see me being "harsh" about something, it's for a reason, and the reason isn't "he's a dick!" Do it right the first time - and there are varying levels of "doing it right," in reference to cost. That thing you posting isn't worth one squirt of piss on a burning man. edgecrusher Posted November 1, 2012 Report Posted November 1, 2012 I tend to agree with 98, that thing plastic? no way it can be any good for that much… it'll catch fire or won't fit… something isn't right there. you don't have to spend 500 bucks, but look around and go with a reputable name at least.

Im trying to pay my grandparents credit card of with my job at belk and it looks like it wont be getting any lower either ;). Ill probably fork 160 bucks and buy the high free floating rail on dpms for my gun. I just dont know how to put it on haha
