With the ammo shortage going on ATK ( aka Lake City) looking to cut work force

They say its because of modernization but I don't see why they couldn't keep the older equipment running to help ease the shortage thats going on. Who would like to have that bin of rifle rounds :wub:

They'll sell the old equipment and some enterprising entrepreneur will step in and make ammo.

 

They may say "modernization" but I'm thinking it is probably more "Obamacare".

Cutting the workforce to 49 employees to save being taxed and fined. Much cheaper to make payroll too.

I have it on good authority that a large retailer will only be keeping a handful of full-time employees, in order to avoid paying bennies for hundreds and hundreds of people.

 

Look at all the doctors that are retiring just to avoid the new hoops to jump through.

Successful businesses do not remain successful unless they minimize the effects of whatever regulations they are forced to adhere to.  Unfortunately, people get laid off, work fewer hours, and or get less benefits.  Obamacare is the latest regulation that businesses are having to deal with.

The number one priority of a business of any size is to make money for the owners and/or shareholders.  That is all.  Anything else is secondary.  There is no right for employees to have a job at a business.  The job belongs to the owner/company and it is theirs to do what they wish with it, including eliminate it if it costs more money than it produces.

Yup.

 

I determined long before Obamacare that I would never hire anyone under my banner.  If the workload gets to be too much assistants can fill out 1099s as independent contractors.
