Microgunner Posted December 15, 2013 Report Posted December 15, 2013 A Winchester mod 61 mfg in 1955. Minty it says. see it here. I'm a sucker for the rimfires.
planeflyer21 Posted December 15, 2013 Report Posted December 15, 2013 That looks to be in very good condition bro!
imschur Posted December 16, 2013 Report Posted December 16, 2013 Sweet, a friend of mine found one of those (I think) in PA a few months back. Good luck MG
planeflyer21 Posted December 16, 2013 Report Posted December 16, 2013 The pump-action rimfire market is woefully lacking in new rifles. Only Henry @ around $400-500 and Remington at $500-600 for domestically produced rifles…and neither of those is on par with this Winchester. I found a used Remmy 572 a few years back, perfect condition, with one of those crappy 4x fixed scopes from the '70s on it, for $250. They wouldn't take the scope off and give me a lower price. :loser: Bought it anyway. Scope was so crappy the girl even threw it out, as it was subpar to even her NcStar. When I saw the $549 on new, lower quality 572s, I felt good about the deal. I hope you get this brother Micro!
Microgunner Posted December 16, 2013 Author Report Posted December 16, 2013 I've been outbid. It's exceeded my max of $1000.
planeflyer21 Posted December 16, 2013 Report Posted December 16, 2013 Tell you what…look in other areas of the auctions. People mislable their guns, put them in the wrong catagory (pump rifle in the shotgun catagory for example). I found a Marlin 39M (well used) for $300 under the wrong catagory and listed as something else. Seach for "Winchester 22", then go through each catagory…semi-auto rifle, pistol, revolver, etc., whatever comes up.
Microgunner Posted December 19, 2013 Author Report Posted December 19, 2013 Holy crap! The bidding's up to $1625 on this rifle. I was worried about paying $1000 for it.
planeflyer21 Posted December 20, 2013 Report Posted December 20, 2013 Holy crap! The bidding's up to $1625 on this rifle. I was worried about paying $1000 for it. Nostalgia is expensive bro!
texas30cal Posted December 20, 2013 Report Posted December 20, 2013 I have a Winchester mod. 62A, its a pump with the exposed hammer, that I absolutely love, it is my favorite rimfire rifle by far although its not that clean, my dad still has a mod. 62 and 2 mod 1890's, I have been trying to get a 1890 out of his hands for years but no luck, the last time he said hell no I told him that's fine just keep it I will get all of them some day!
Microgunner Posted December 20, 2013 Author Report Posted December 20, 2013 The 1890 is 22 short only?
texas30cal Posted December 20, 2013 Report Posted December 20, 2013 I think some are but not all, its the gallery model that is 22 short only I think, they bring the BIG money.
Tripledeuce Posted December 20, 2013 Report Posted December 20, 2013 I'm not sure of the numbers, but a great many 1890's were produced in LR and long. Handled quite a number, when I had my retail shop in the 70's. Respectfully Terry
Tripledeuce Posted December 20, 2013 Report Posted December 20, 2013 Just saw a mint 62A at the local gun store!!! Cal 22MAG!!!!! Sold for $2,000 with only 10 minutes on the shelf! Respectfully Terry
texas30cal Posted December 21, 2013 Report Posted December 21, 2013 Had no idea they were produced in 22mag.
planeflyer21 Posted December 21, 2013 Report Posted December 21, 2013 Sweet, Terry! We'll expect a range report and pics! Of the rifle, not one of those pencil-stabbed targets.
Microgunner Posted December 21, 2013 Author Report Posted December 21, 2013 Bidding on this mod 62 now.
Tripledeuce Posted December 22, 2013 Report Posted December 22, 2013 the bad news is I can't give you pics, I wasn't the one that bought it! I'll be paying off this heart valve for a LOOOOOOONG time. Terry
Microgunner Posted December 22, 2013 Author Report Posted December 22, 2013 I won the mod 62. Now the painful part, paying for it.
planeflyer21 Posted December 22, 2013 Report Posted December 22, 2013 Cool! That really isn't that bad a price, as the Rossi 62s are going for half that. Congrats!
Microgunner Posted December 22, 2013 Author Report Posted December 22, 2013 Thank you, This is a gift for my brother. It was between a vintage Winchester pump 22 and a lightweight AR. He opted for the 22.
