Cali_Ed Posted March 8, 2014 Report Posted March 8, 2014 What the title says brother orderd my upper now need to know where to go for the proper combo. Fulton? Rainer?
Robocop1051 Posted March 8, 2014 Report Posted March 8, 2014 Fulton? Rainer? Both those are great choices.
Cali_Ed Posted March 8, 2014 Author Report Posted March 8, 2014 Would you say id hav to call or just order of ther website?
survivalshop Posted March 8, 2014 Report Posted March 8, 2014 I would call them . I emailed them months ago with a question & have not heard back yet . Maybe it was in my spam folder & I routinely delete it , maybe they didn't like my question or didn't want to answer it . It was about there barrel gas port size .
Cali_Ed Posted March 8, 2014 Author Report Posted March 8, 2014 I've emailed fulton twice now with no response, why have an email there if they arnt going to respond
mineralman55 Posted March 8, 2014 Report Posted March 8, 2014 Most places that will sell you a .308AR barrel will be happy to headspace it for you if you send them your bolt. Bison Armory and Rainier both told me to send in the bolt. Call them and ask the particulars.
Cali_Ed Posted March 8, 2014 Author Report Posted March 8, 2014 I sent Rainer a message they said they would free of charge
98Z5V Posted March 11, 2014 Report Posted March 11, 2014 Fulton automatically does that for you, if you buy the barrel and the bolt at the same time (or the barrel and a whole BCG). They don't even ask if you want it done - they do it to make sure it leaves, and will function like it should. That might be why they didn't respond to you - it's something that they already do for customers, and I think it's posted on their website.
NTXshooter Posted March 25, 2014 Report Posted March 25, 2014 I don't know how they compare cost wise but JP Enterprises is an option.
Cali_Ed Posted March 27, 2014 Author Report Posted March 27, 2014 (edited) What would be the diffeence between the Rainer "ultra match" and fultons? And how do i go about picking the twist rate Edited March 27, 2014 by Cali_Ed
98Z5V Posted March 28, 2014 Report Posted March 28, 2014 And how do i go about picking the twist rate What projectile weight do you plan on shooting the most? That will determine twist rate.
Cali_Ed Posted March 28, 2014 Author Report Posted March 28, 2014 Not sure yet, is there a twist rate that is kinda in the middle that can shoot heavier or a bit lighter loads. An inbetween rate for instance .For starters im going to be shooting of the shelf.
survivalshop Posted March 28, 2014 Report Posted March 28, 2014 1-10 twist rate is the most common with .30 cal. & can shoot the widest range of bullet weights effectively , but there are others for more specific purposes .
Cali_Ed Posted April 3, 2014 Author Report Posted April 3, 2014 Would the Rainer ultra match be better then the FA? I'm getting ready to pull the trigger on a barrel jut waiting or a holiday haha
survivalshop Posted April 3, 2014 Report Posted April 3, 2014 Would the Rainer ultra match be better then the FA? I'm getting ready to pull the trigger on a barrel jut waiting or a holiday haha Thats a tough call . I can only speak for the FA Barrels, but many say the Rainer Ultra match shoot well also .
98Z5V Posted April 4, 2014 Report Posted April 4, 2014 I have one Rainier UltraMatch barrel, but that's Dawn Marie's 300BLK barrel - can't really compare that to the 308 Win stuff for the big ARs, but that bastard shoots the lights out! Now, My 308 AR is a Fulton 18.5" stainless match barrel - that THAT thing shoots the lights out! OP, you can't go wrong with either one. That's the long moral of my story. Get the one that's in stock when you want to order. <thumbsup>
Ben Diss Posted April 5, 2014 Report Posted April 5, 2014 I've got a Rainier UM 20" barrel on my 308AR. Shoots sub-MOA. Great fit and finish. It's killed a bunch of hogs.
