shibiwan Posted March 27, 2014 Report Posted March 27, 2014 Someone offering to trade a P220 for my AR-15 and sent me these pics (attached). There's a shallow milled slot on the slide. Never seen this before and wondering if I'm missing something. I don't think it would affect anything, just wondering if it'll be an OK trade.
98Z5V Posted March 27, 2014 Report Posted March 27, 2014 Some marking has been removed. There's nothing there from the factory, so it would have been something added after purchase by someone, or some department.
shibiwan Posted March 27, 2014 Author Report Posted March 27, 2014 (edited) That was my guess too..... just wanted to see if anyone concurred. Guys on Sigtalk are saying that the old Sigs have the serial number on that spot - looks like the slide may not be original. Edited March 27, 2014 by shibiwan
98Z5V Posted March 27, 2014 Report Posted March 27, 2014 Looks like that's the case, man - old one here in the pic. Most have the serial on the left side, but that must have changed to that at some point.
shibiwan Posted March 27, 2014 Author Report Posted March 27, 2014 (edited) The mystery deepens.... These CPO units are milled from the factory - notice how they are blued? Edited March 27, 2014 by shibiwan
Toolndie7 Posted March 27, 2014 Report Posted March 27, 2014 (edited) this and this may be relavant. Ive read that its a rollmark that would have said "stainless" which has been removed. why I dunno Edited March 27, 2014 by Toolndie7
planeflyer21 Posted March 27, 2014 Report Posted March 27, 2014 Aw who cares?! GET IT!! It's not like you live in a state where rogue federal agencies do lame things to set-up patsies, looking forward to bonfires Waco-style, or anything like that.
shibiwan Posted March 27, 2014 Author Report Posted March 27, 2014 Official word/email from Sig is that the serials were milled off "in the old days" I'm lowballing it - $550? or is that too generous.
greenmist Posted March 27, 2014 Report Posted March 27, 2014 It's just a hair generous, but get at least 2 mags and a case. The internal extractor WGs are going fast. $500 is a decent deal. Ask about spring kits, any RSA additional fun stuff, factory swag...
shibiwan Posted March 27, 2014 Author Report Posted March 27, 2014 He's offering 3 mags... 2 pro-mags (which I assume are jamtacular)
shibiwan Posted March 28, 2014 Author Report Posted March 28, 2014 (edited) Looks like he couldn't handle the truth. He's taking his toys and going home to hopefully unload on someone else that knows less about guns. Edited March 28, 2014 by shibiwan
shibiwan Posted March 30, 2014 Author Report Posted March 30, 2014 Haha... the guy's back trying to counteroffer.... LOL
Robocop1051 Posted March 30, 2014 Report Posted March 30, 2014 Get the freebies thrown in. Sig mags (not promag) are pricey. Holsters and ammo always help too.
shibiwan Posted March 30, 2014 Author Report Posted March 30, 2014 I'm standing firm. :D He's insisting that the thing is worth the value of a regular Sig, not a CPO Sig, because "Sig tech said that it was all correct". <lmao> <laughs>
BigP623 Posted March 31, 2014 Report Posted March 31, 2014 Theres a Facebook group Im part of here in Louisiana called cajun swap shop. Well anyways you should see how people value 5 year old guns that "only have 100 down the pipe". They ask equal or more than new in trade value or slightly below new value cash price its hilarious. And they love to throw in 200 rounds and ask 250 over new price cause it comes with ammo and a case or something. I just laugh and scroll on.

If he doesn't take it, there's no loss. I'm seeing other P220's that are in better shape and without that questionable milling mark go for less these last week. Edited March 31, 2014 by shibiwan

You should browse on backpage.com - there's a ton of crackheads (here in the Phoenix area) asking way too much for their used guns...however there are good deals to be found if you're patient and do your research. A lot of them picked up guns during the mad scare and ended up overpaying, and they can't come to terms with the fact that the same guns they bought 5 years ago aren't worth what they paid for it.
BigP623 Posted April 1, 2014 Report Posted April 1, 2014 I wanted to screen shot it but now I can't find it, there was a lady on there with a dpms 308 with a no name scope and free float barrel with AFG. Thats all it had in upgrades. Lady said it was her soon to be ex husbands and was selling it because all he left her was 100 bucks...anyways enough with the backstory....she wanted 3k. People told her that a fair price would be between 12-1500 and she said no 3k firm because thats what he said it was worth when he bought it. Just shook my head and scrolled on...

She believed him when he said, "THIS IS SIX INCHES!!!," too - didn't she?... <lmao>
shibiwan Posted April 1, 2014 Author Report Posted April 1, 2014 LOL... Whoever the ex is, he's doing it wrong. Isn't it the SOP to report a lower price to the wife?

I think we need to find the link to that ad, and all get in there - with proof - and let her know what it's really worth. Just let her know that her soon-to-be ex was lying to her. Again. <lmao> Edited April 2, 2014 by 98Z5V
