unforgiven
This weekend I had the chance to do what I don't do often enough, and no it's not drink to excess. It's shooting from the standing position and it showed how weak I was in this area. Here is a vid that touches on the facet :https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=909ZzJYRFJ8 My range time will incorporate this type of shooting. As we have seen and read here many are worried about a "SHTF or Battle rifle" but if you can't hold it up and or move and shoot, you'r better offf with a 10-22 that can be held and shot.Just my 2 mags, nice to be home.BTW brother Greg impressed the $hit out of me by the way he ran that 3G trigger.Almost sounded FA.I have to add that ALL the guys in the group were/are accurate shooter's in the standing position. The down side to the SBR's as if thier was any is for a lefty they turned my pertty face into a shell deflector. That is all. planeflyer21
Good video bro! I'd add that for those of us with twisted and siezed body parts, don't focus on exact position so much as what position works for YOU.
blue109
just set up the sling on my dissy for standing shots. not very comfy for carrying, but locks the rifle into position surprisingly well. definitely something I need more practice with though. I doubt many "necessity shots" will be made from a bench if it ever comes to that.

Offhand shooting is an important SHTF skill, too.
98Z5V
Shooting from a standing position = you better have a sling, sling, sling... And know how to use it, know how to use it, know how to use it. Period. Basic Appleseed Shoot stuff right there, fellas. Get your asses to an Appleseed Shoot. Pronto.
survivalshop
When hunting , I use any kind of rest I can find , even if I have to move to get to one , especially with my handguns. Some times you don't have time to sling up or grab a rest , but if hunting , you should do every thing you can to get a good clean shot . Now a target match , like Three gun type , this may be the way to go. The Shooting stance , well ,if you use any of the older full auto 308's ( FN's , M 14"s , HK's ) that stance is mandatory for controllability & yes , you can control them with experience , contrary to some published data. Good video.

Thats great, may I make a suggestion to you from an old fart that's been around awhile, learn and practice to shoot in many different positions and using left and right handed shooting you will thank me for the suggestion when your eyes get old and the stitmatizm acts ups on you!
