Aero Precision M5 upper and lower... .308 receivers

Recommended Posts

RRA pins are longer than DPMS-based and Armalite-based pins, too.

warthog, can you measure your front pivot pin and provide the length?  I can compare that to an RRA pin and see if it's the same.  That way, we'll know.  <thumbsup>

Here is what I got for measurements:

Aero Pins

Takedown      Full length 1.1655; Below the lip down 1.0520

Pivot Pin         Full length 1.7130; Below the lip down 1.5860

DPMS Pins

Takedown      Full length 1.201; Below the lip down 1.082

Pivot Pin         Full length 1.64; Below the lip down 1.510

I purchased both the DPMS and Aero Pins.  I ended up using the DPMS takedown pin and Aero pivot pin.  The Aero takedown pin is to short.  It sits just flush with the receiver.  Don't ask my why they did that.  My opinion is that they should have a note on when you purchase the receiver sets about the different length pivot pin.  It is mentioned under their 308 lower parts kit that the pivot pin would be to long in a DPMS receiver.  They also don't mention on their site that the lower comes with the bolt catch screw.  The Forward assist comes with a screw rather than roll pin too.  Did not mention that on the site when I purchased it.  The only screw not provided was the 4-40 screw for the takedown detent.
