  1. I wonder about THAT sometimes too.... :-X I was really hoping to trick the 10/22 out.....for her of course.
  2. I'm kicking myself a little over the hand guard right now. I spent twice as much as I needed to, and for no real benefit. We'll see what I think once it comes in. It doesn't help that I bought the receiver on impulse with no idea on 308 pricing and over paid by probably a good $200...oh well, can't turn back now. Just want to get out and shoot this thing soon. Maybe I won't feel so bad after a few magazines through it ;D Gotta find the right place to get my little BS part to make this thing "CA Legal". Need to figure out what the best magazine lock is. A lot of guys like the bullet button, but I want to know which one gets the highest approval from LE so I don't find myself with a problem should I ever get stopped with it. The thing I fear most is getting in enough trouble that I won't be able to buy any more guns in the future. "CA Legal" is still an iffy term with these guns. Nothing is official and personally I think the bullet button makes a weak case for "fixed magazine", but hey...they're being built and sold all over CA right now so we'll see how this goes.
  3. It came out real nice man....I just hope it get's to draw some blood this fall <munch>
  4. Sounds Like DSG an BD are pretty similar on their member pricing. Stuck with the 16. It's gonna be pretty slick I think. I should have most of the parts next week...might be a few extra days on the UBR as it's being shipped to a good friend and then forwarded to me. Might even have a few days off work next week due to rain, so that'll give me a good chance to play around with the parts. Man I'm getting anxious. Edit to address trigger--- I'm not sure yet. Really considering sending mine off to Bill Springfield, trying it out and if I don't like it...explore the options after that. I'm already a little over 2500 into the gun, and might break the 3k point if I continue down the path I think I'm on (and this is before optics)....so, we'll see when I run out of plastic :D
  5. I bought one for the wife in hopes of tricking it out while I built this 308...so it wouldn't look like I was the only one dumping money on guns. Took her out to shoot....and she likes it just the way it is! :-\ Man there's something wrong with that woman :o ;D
  6. Top link is no bueno.... :-\ <munch>
  7. Stock problem resolved! UBR and Miad Grip on the mailing list :o
  8. Just got confirmation that the first chunk is in the mail. Estimated delivery on the 19th...... :o LPK, Ejection cover/spring/pin,forward assist, buffer spring, buffer, barrel, gas tube/pin....I think that's it in the first box. Also on order are some handguard fixin's and a barrel nut wrench. Not sure how soon it'll be here. <munch> Looks like the stock is on hold (the stock is outta stock)...and the price is worth a wait. Gonna go nuts waiting for the 19th.
  9. Kinda good either way...it'll save your ass on one side, or be like the cherry on top if it goes well. Good luck <munch>
  10. I have a line on the PRS for a little less than BD member price. But I'm going to go with the UBR for a pretty fair price too. If I decide I don't like it on the 308, I'll pull it off and save it for one of the two 5.56 builds that have to happen when this one gets done. (been drooling over .458's lately) Granted, that's if I live through the domestic battle I'm brewing right now. She thought my photography hobby was expensive....ha! I went with a 16" barrel for this build. Not so much to stay light, but to have a little shorter gun to drag around when hunting. I'm almost debating calling back and changing the order to a 18.5", but we'll see how it goes. Maybe I'll just set this one up and sell it if I'm not happy. For the gas block, I would prefer it without the rail. There's not a lot of choices out there from what I've found so I'm pretty sure I know what I'll wind up with. I was looking for something with a little style to it as it will definitely be exposed.
  11. Well, so far I've done some pretty serious damage to the credit card today. My wife's gonna drop when the statement comes :o Picked up all the small parts to finish out the upper/lower. Barrel, gas tube, carbine buffer spring, carbine buffer, hand guard and a barrel nut wrench. Still surfing for a few parts. Gas Block in .936 (recommendations appreciated) Grip Comp/flash hider Stock I think that'll wrap her up. <munch> Just be waitin' on the big brown truck...wearing a path in the floor by the front window.
  12. Sweet...More company from CA! Where about? I'm in San Diego.

    Range Day!

Just wait til I get my gun done and drag it to the range....you're gonna feel like an expert marksman when we compare targets ;D Glad you had a good time. I can't wait to get out and shoot.
  14. Noticed a lot of stuff at SI Defense. Don't know their reputation. http://shop.si-defense.com/default.asp Who has a line on good barrels......that are in stock? I've looked at the Fultons and they are top on the list for consideration. Looking for 16-18,5"...mainly just looking for options. Was strongly considering a JP, but was disappointed with the way they handled my questions. If they don't have time for me, I don't have dollars for them...oh well. What other options are out there?
  15. Anything I drop here is free for you to use with any of your sites Drew. I don't even care for credit...it's overrated. ;)
  16. :o WHHHATT? :o
  17. Thanks for creating the JD section Drew. So, I went to the local gun shop to pick up a couple KD 5.56 lowers and sitting in the display case with them was a matched upper/lower JD .308. Bought on impulse with absolutely no knowledge of the .308 world...couldn't resist. It was just too pretty. So far I have only gathered a few pieces. JD Receiver BCM Gunfighter charging handle with the MOD 4 medium latch DPMS Chrome carrier w/phosphate bolt Getting ready for a whole bunch of online purchases. I'll try to snap photos piece by piece as they come in starting this weekend. Here's a shot or two of it right after it came home.
  18. UBR with entry receiver 1.65lbs UBR stock 1.48lbs PRS with rifle receiver 1.85lbs Weights per Magpul's site. I'm ordering one soon....very soon. Maybe this weekend soon. ;)

MIA on other forums as well...he's been busy (not gun related) unfortunately :-X
  20. I run around a lot of off road racing...both bikes and cars. The one thing we have used the most from our kits over the last several years have been sam splints. They fold up nice and take very little room and they flat out work awesome. Worth a couple extra bucks for any kit...just my $.02
  21. I know there's others out there, and Fulton's is the same...it's a DPMS. The only reason I went JSE was because the pricetag was $250. $289 from Fulton IIRC. I can't do anything with it yet, so I'm probably not in a hurry...I'm just impatient. :o Editing to add....Thanks for the heads up on JP, I'm guessing I'll be in the same boat with giving up, but while I wait on the first one I guess it won't hurt to make a few calls.
  22. Still waiting on JSE to bill me for the BCG I ordered. I checked the status today and it claims to be in progress...that's it. They supposedly had 2 in stock when I ordered, but it's looking like they might have been bluffing. All of this time is making me reconsider the choice on the Chrome DPMS...and possibly spend a little more to go with the JP low mass setup(which is also on back-order). I have an email in to JP and if they say the dates aren't too far off, I'm going to cancel the DPMS. ...but the good news, tax refunds got deposited and I might get to add a little to the "waiting on" list <munch>
  23. Referral from another member. He found it, told me about it...then forced me to register hoping he would land the prize for registering the 100th member, but I signed up too soon and ruined it for him.
  24. I find it interesting that per IRA website it's a 5.5 pound trigger pull, but per Brownells it's 4-4.5
  25. JD Machine Tech -http://www.jdmachinetech.com Supposedly this is the better half of the Kaiser split up. Can't think of the name of the other half...JJ or J something. Will post up if I find it. Each company has a .308 that is identical aside from the logo. It sounded as if the other half has the rights to this design as JD only made 300 and plans to make no more in this style to avoid paying the other half.
