Well I used to use the mil spec grease on the threads , the dark stuff that you used to get in the little containers in a cleaning kit for M1 rifles & I know it works because I pulled the Barrel from my Pre-ban Olympic Arms build recently , that I assembled in the late seventies & the nut came right off . I was changing to a Flat top Receiver , for a scope. I have been using Red & Tacky synthetic grease for the last ten years or so & the Nuts, also have no problem coming off. I think its better to have something , than nothing at all . What ever works for you .

Measure the height from the flat deck of the lower to the top of the Bolt Catch , with it raised all the way . The Bolt Catch not going high enough to catch the Bolt properly can be a couple of things that have little to do with brand of 308AR Bolt Catch . Should catch the Bolt , like this .

My 16" , rifle gas Criterion , works & mine is a HB contour configuration . I'm waiting for a 18.5 ,Med. contour , rifle gas , since I already have the 16" & a 20" HB by Criterion . That's a good price , as long as the Barrel lives up to expectations . We are talking about a .308 ? -
Slamfire in my DPMS
survivalshop replied to sandog's topic in DPMS LR-308 General, Technical Discussion
The Safety on most rifles , including the AR family , hold only the Trigger from moving , so as to keep its Sear engagement with the Hammer Sear ( the only thing keeping the Hammer from falling onto the Firing Pin ), but if the Sear engagement is weak or compromised in some way , the Hammer will follow the BCG into breach locking & if there is enough momentum , it could slam fire . Its why its recommended not to single load a round in the Chamber & drop the BCG from its Catch onto the live round thats in the Chamber . In my post # 2 about my 870 incident , the Safety was engaged , it didn't help . Its always a mystery when you don't find any concrete evidence of an issue , you just have to follow safe loading & re-loading practices & always keep the Muzzle in a safe direction <dontknow> -
So, I was walking through the mall and saw that there was a "Muslim Book Store." I was wondering what exactly was in a Muslim bookstore so I went in. As I was wandering around taking a look, the clerk stopped me and asked if he could help me. I imagine I didn't look like his normal clientele, so I asked, “Do you have a copy of the U.S. Immigration Policy Book regarding Muslims?” The clerk said, "fuk off, get out and stay out!" I said, "Yes, that's the one. Do you have it in paperback?”

Happy B day . Good luck .

Its the Ejector that will add its spring pressure to possibly give a false reading . You can take both out if you want , use a slight tap with a cleaning rod that is made of a soft material ( aluminum or Brass ) , if the HS sticks in the Chamber Adding thick oil can also give false readings , it takes up space also & the thicker the lubricant is the more space it will take up . Its all going to be a tight fit when in a new unbroken action .
-
I check HS with the Bolt & Barrel Extension dry or at least wiped dry . Most HS gages you can keep the Extractor in, but the removal of the Ejector is mandatory to test with light finger pressure , they have a grove for the Extractor & it helps in removing the HS gage from the chamber , still others are made to accommodate those components & they will need no removal . What HS gage did you use , " NO GO " , " GO " , "Field " ? Are you sure the HS gage is good & proper Gage, we have seen bad gages here before . Believe it or not , it doesn't take much to damage a HS Gage . Another thing I have seen is , some NIB coated Bolts are real tight & require break in to test correctly .

Its all in the numbers or letters , just shows how much the imbeciles making our laws , know about the subject or any subject , for that matter . <dontknow>

Thanks , but its not always like that , I sometimes have ten things going on on that bench at the same time & it gets cluttered real fast . <thumbsup>

I've always thought that , still wonder what their intended use for it was . I plan on putting my Video Camera on it to video shooting this rifle .
